I feel so pleased that Macmillan changed people to women. It’s a small step but it’s still a step. If we join forces we should be able to achieve great things. Outside Twitter world I think you’ll find there’s more of us than there are of them

I was asked to complete a, Covid recovery questionnaire for people with disabilities. The same... What gender do you identify with? What is your sexuality? LGBTQIH+.

I refuse to answer such questions so couldn't take past. On contacting the researcher, I was told that "you old people need to get with the programme or get out". Not an answer that should come out of a researcher's mouth... I am not old for a start. I am a fellow researcher who now has an issue with how this research is being carried out, how much the company were given by the government for the contract, and how accurately the data/report will be with this attitude prevailing.

We need to challenge at every opportunity. But we also have to inform those who are paying for such research to take place that the starting point is biased.

Wow. Sounds like their head is well and truly up their own arse. Reminds me of a twitter reply I saw posted from the Green Party. Someone tweeted that they couldn't vote for a party that couldn't define the word woman or protect their rights, and the reply from a political representative was that they didn't want bigots voting for them anyway. Yes, very diplomatic.

So many of them spend so much time in their own echo chambers that they have no concept of what's happening in the real world beyond their screens. The capture they've achieved has given them the false impression that the majority of sane people agree with it.

if they have no words to define woman, then its no wonder they use the term bigot to mean its opposite. but word -trickery can only take them so far, because if they cant shape meaningful sentences, how can they form arguments with which to win political elections?

please talk to other statisticians / data analysts/researchers about your concerns - because the stats/research industry will suffer when such data is compromised. obviously questionnaire designers should be statisticians- (and should understand the 'assumptions' that have been made). yet it is very odd that the proposed 2021 census changes (from sex category to gender category) got so far without adequate internal opposition?

I AM old and I probably would have told the "researcher" to go fuck himself. The arrogance and consequent idiocy of some young people is beyond belief, but there are also plenty of arrogant and idiotic old people. I do the same thing with the gender crap. It's helpful if it's a paper questionnaire because then you can just cross gender out, otherwise I try to complain somewhere.

👏👏😆 Their ageism, misogyny & general idiocy is palpable. Thanks for rebelling. I, too, cross out words on paper forms. If it’s in an email or some other form & I cannot get around it, I either refuse to complete or pick the most obviously insane word. In U.S. I’ve been able to select “Rev.” more easily than “Ms.” or “female” or whatever. Which is not entirely factually incorrect. I *am* ordained in the Church of FSM… https://www.spaghettimonster.org/. ✌️

The researcher was a woman! She really didn't get what I had an issue with. Most times I go back to the company but this, time, I didn't have the time to complain. Will the next time!

Yes, there's the "You're a grotesque bigot" response, then there's the "Huh?" response. I had company on Sunday and I began to realize they had no idea what I was talking about when I was talking about anything!

Fantastic post! I have been wondering how to push back with this for quite some time. It infuriated me during the Census and you can bet I gave them paragraphs of push back. It's so incredibly wrong how this indoctrination is forced upon everyone in forms everywhere when it's a LIE!

I demanded a paper form and then wrote a mini essay wherever it was trying to get me to talk of "gender". My DH allowed me to do the same for his part on the census.

I was on a delayed train last week and I applied for a refund online from London Northwestern Railway. When filling out my details, I saw ‘Mx’ as an option in the long list of titles, which I’d never seen before. Tbh I don’t see why a rail company needs to know whether I’m a Miss or Mrs, but I don’t think Mx adds anything.

I was in a U.S. health clinic in 2013 & they ritualistically brought me over to a counter & presented me with a blank pronoun sticker to fill out. I was shocked/hesitant, as I truly did not understand why health care providers were being so intrusive about my knowledge of the English language (really, I was this naive). I stood there for some time holding the pen, obviously confused, when a ‘butch’ female employee started telling me how their clients’ FEELINGS mattered (It felt like mine did not matter, mind you) and something about affirmation because suicide. HUGE RED FLAG for me, as I was there to speak to a therapist about my newly TIM brother’s bizarre manipulative, casual threats of suicide if he didn’t get his way (i.e., “If you don’t give me money I might as well kill myself”, “If I hadn’t gotten hormones, I would’ve probably killed myself”, etc., etc.) - which he seemed to have learned SOMEWHERE and sounded totally rehearsed (but still scary). I quickly wrote “woman” on my sticker. A male employee took my “woman” sticker from me, crumpled it up & threw it in the trash, explaining “No hon, this is for PRONOUNS, you know, like He/Her/Him/Zee/Their…” He provided me a list of words that were mostly NOT pronouns nor actual words to choose from. I wrote “she/her” on a sticker, showed it to him & he smirked as if he had predicted it. I then crumpled it up & threw it in the trash in front of him. I then wrote “cuz It” on another pronoun sticker, slapped it on my chest & went in to see the therapist. (“Cousin Itt” was a hairy character on an old American tv show, the Addams Family. TBH, I was having a bad hair day). The therapist thought it was hilarious. She ended up telling me my brother was being outright manipulative and to always call the police each time my bro uttered threats of self harm, no matter how casually. She also told me I did not need therapy and ended our session after 5 minutes. I could not return to thank her, as she had quit that facility (👏👏👏) to work elsewhere. I do remember when “Ms.” was a bold new term. It’s purpose, I believe, was to allow women to not be forced into revealing their marital status. (After all, “Mr.” is used for both single and married men.) Meanwhile, “Mx” sounds like an erasure of “Ms.” p.s. Sorry so wordy 😜

Thanks for the words!! Therapist sounds great!! Yes, the introduction of Mx could be a way to slowly erase Ms.

2013!?!?!?! Wow, you must have been in a wokery! I adore Cousin It and all the other Addamses. My sister and I used to comb our very long hair over our faces and put on our glasses and crack ourselves up. And I'm so glad you saw a good therapist -- there aren't many -- who seemed to be in contact with reality.

Ok, so I just filled out the form sent by The British Library to me today to see how I liked their 'Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women's Rights' exhibition I went to see last week.

By golly did they get FEED BACK. Oh yes.

I have photos from the exhibition too... that would make your skin crawl.

They had a section on 'BIOLOGY' where they ask on a huge intro panel of white text on a red background: 'What is a woman?' then follow it up with: all women 'spend years reflecting on their **gender identity**' NO SHIT.

Then it finished with this: 'But ideas about gender, sex and fertility are less fixed than they might first appear. They are shaped by the scientific and *cultural beliefs* and *technologies* of the time.'?!?!

and don't even start me on the fact that the had Shon Faye's Gender Recognition Certificate in there!!!!! RARRRR!

So yeah, I filled that damn survey form out and hauled their arses over the coals. I have kept all my replies recorded with the questions in a text file too just incase they're needed... grrr!

Expand full comment

These were my main replies when asked what were my least fave parts of the exhibit:

How dare the opening panel of white text on a red background ask 'What is a woman?'

Let alone then follow it up with the hideous INCORRECT assumption that all women 'spend years reflecting on their **gender identity**' Excuse me? You are a prestigious famous LIBRARY. How dare you exhibit such dangerous and leading rubbish? Surely you have dictionaries yes? Then go and look up what a woman is. Women are ADULT HUMAN FEMALES! Women are not a socially constructed 'gender identity'! Women are not men and men cannot be women.

I am utterly disgusted that the British Library has allowed itself to be captured by transgender ideology and have changed the very WORDS and MEANINGS the ENGLISH language use and then displayed them all over an exhibition that has been seen by thousands of people young and old. Without those words being legally changed or supported by ALL women!

The British Library has shoved the very meaning of what is is to be a woman ASIDE for the feelings of who? and how many in this world? A very small manipulative no where near as vulnerable as women, minority. It's an absolute disgrace.

Then after that horrific intro paragraph on the Biology panel, how the hell could the British Library write this: 'But ideas about gender, sex and fertility are less fixed than they might first appear. They are shaped by the scientific and *cultural beliefs* and *technologies* of the time.'?!?!

WHAT?! What TikTok, Reddit thread, tumblr page have your writers been reading to regurgitate such absolute garbage?

Since when has Science made an official statement to the world that there is more than two sexes?! That sex can be changed by cultural beliefs?! DEPLORABLE.

Next: Shon Faye's gender recognition act certificate. GIVE WOMEN A BREAK.

What the actual does this have to do with WOMEN?

Shon Faye has a PENIS.

END OF.

I signed the petition to stop the government allowing the GRA to go ahead because if suddenly men who *feel* like women can just magically change their IDs... well you will get what is already happening in PRISONS and SPAs all over the world. Rapists and perverts traumatising women and girls for all eternity. WAKE UP!!

Well done !! I agree with every word you said. Hope more and more women ( and men also ) get angry about this "ideology " and start fighting against it. Apathy will be our worst enemy and will lead to our downfall . Stay strong

55000 pregnant people have been vaccinated successfully according to the Scottish government. The Daily Mail reported a backlash against the language used instead of the term women on Twitter. What I’d love to know is how many of the 55000 pregnant women were either trans men or non binary that they get to skew the language used for the cohort of pregnant people who let’s face it are female as that is biological reality. Where is the data? We need to start challenging - how many people are we catering for with this women excluding tosh?

Why the H**L has EVERYTHING in life now got to be about " trans " people !! It's as if NO-ONE ELSE exists !! Makes me sick. Won't be buying a coffee from them again !!

Expand full comment

The thing is, if you had a colleague who was trans and they had changed their name, of course you're going to use their new name, that's just a very common courtesy. Only a dickhead would use their old name if they worked with them in a close setting. I don't understand the pronoun bit because pronouns tend to be used in someone's absence, so it's a non-issue. If I'm talking to YOU, then YOU is s the obvious pronoun, no? I would refuse to get involved if a customer correctly sexed them. Sorry but it's how survival instincts work.

Speaking of "misgendering", have any of you seen the article about the Olympic they/them skateboarder? Apparently the commentators aren't being very woke. 😁 Can't wait for Laurel Hubbard to grace their screens.

Daily Mail readers aren’t having any of it 😂 the comments are hilarious. Dozens of complaints - wow. What an intolerant bunch. Why are THEY competing in a women’s section if they don’t identify as a woman. They is not for singular use. They are a rubbish skateboarder so who cares what their pronouns are. Keep peaking the general public TRA complainers! Doing our job for us 👏

I'm waiting for the nonbinary, or is that nonbrainery, to use the royal WE.

To be fair, how many of your colleagues have actually changed their (first) names? So…the pronoun and the changing-names things are all about forced speech & SO MANY use the name-change as a legal tool to hide their criminal histories (unfortunately, it IS effective). I believe the changing of the last name thing is all about joining a cult and severing ties with one’s family of origin.

i'm not sure how many people know this - but leslie feinberg uses zir/hir type 'pronouns' in their book 'transgender warriors' (a history of individuals who cross dressed - before the 'surgeries' and also 20th century individuals) which was out in the 90's. feinberg had such a terrible time as butch lesbian (assaults etc) it's hardly surprising that she no longer wanted to be a woman - (see biography 'stone butch blues').

The pronouns themselves are not the issue - it’s the arrogant insistence that people must use pronouns or be accused of bigotry. I have people call me Melanie/Mel - I’m easy going - but how they refer to me when I’m not there is none of my business.

Expand full comment

yes you are right- the demands to use language a certain way is one way they take control and dominate the 'conversation.' it also a distraction from the thinness of the gender ideological argument. and their no debate strategy.

i mentioned the history of different 'pronouns' because if we know the history behind the 'gender ideology' statements, and particularly how 'feminist' ideas/methods are used against women in anti-feminist attacks, then it is easier to 'fightback' verbally. for knowledge is still power. and when it comes to 'intellectually' taking on the academics, the gender critical crew are going to need more than common sense.

You need to be relentless, recognize when someone is just repeating outworn tropes, and when to cut off "conversations" that are not genuine interactions.
