You might perhaps emphasise that this Mridul is a MAN and a LIAR (on at least his application to secure his ultimate job as the CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis. Although presumably the committee knew he was a man before they promoted him. Which shows how much empathy *they* have with victims of rape).

He's seriously mentally unwell and/or deluded as well if he thinks he's a woman.

And his comments also illustrate his complete lack of empathy and utter unsuitability for the role he lied his way into getting.

I am sure as, you imply, that he is indeed deluded. But we may not be in such a bad state at the moment if others refused to pander to the whims of these egotistical, grasping narcissists and tried to apply some critical thinking skills to the situation and focus on cold, hard reality and not the fluffy, gossamer-like, transparent fantasy world that these people inhabit.

And instead of fawning over these people and just 'being nice', they refused to validate, or confirm their demands as to their 'new identities'.

That said, I realise that this is impossible for many people. And we are all worse for that - especially women.

Shameful really. We are regressing into a darker, more primitive, pre-Enlightenment world of timorous puritanism.

He is certainly deluded. I don't care if he has a mental health illness or not. It demeans those who do have mental health illnesses and are seeking help for this and avoiding their condition adversely affecting others (which in majority of cases doesn't adversely affect others).

His behaviour, his comments, his actions all point to a man who know full well what he is doing and its adverse impact on Women particularly those who are vulnerable.

He does is deliberately and knowingly.

So let us ensure its called out for what it is. He is a toxic narcissistic male, who lied to get into a position where he could sneer are traumatised women.

He isn't mentally ill - he is a sociopath. As are all who do what he does. Any women or man who supports him is also toxic.

I just hope I never need women's services in Scotland as there are none now I would trust. I work for another charity who signposts vulnerable people to support services and I have a real problem with that wondering what we are sending them into. It's like women will have to meet in secret to help each other in future. Who would have thought this could happen in this day and age in a formerly civilised country.

I just wrote to support@rapecrisisscotland.org.uk to voice my anger and ask them to consider why a man in a dress should choose to work with vulnerable women. I had to do that to stop seething.

Fit to be tied 😠 That penis-person transvestite is not just condoning the rape of women who know that he's a bloke, a fake and a misogynist, he's effectively advocating for it. I'd also like to know who all these crossdressers who need rape crisis services are? Most of them have their 🍆and nobody would touch them with a bargepole!

I like that term "Penis-person Transvesite" PPT....alternative name in place of "transwoman" which is offensive.

That's what they are! Any other terminology and the great unterf'd-up think the poor dears have had their cock & balls cut off. It's a creepy, pervy sexual fetish and the unpeaked public need to know 💪

I have never felt so ashamed of my country as I do now , thanks to this completely screwed up ideology ,whose proponents continue to wage an ever increasingly toxic war on women !! The hatred and contempt they have for us is way beyond anything we could ever have imagined .Hard to believe we have female politicians in every political party ,and ,unbelievably , a FEMALE First Minister who classes herself as a FEMINIST !! What kind of mentality do people have to have ,in order to convince themselves that (a) a trans identifying male is a woman and( b) that such a person will be able to understand and empathise with women who have been raped !! Rape ,after all is every WOMAN'S worst nightmare !!. No MAN will ever completely understand that !!' More likely that CEO will " get off " on women's suffering !! Wish more decent men ( like Graham ) would stand up against this

I can't help but wonder how The Guilty Feminist has come to have made it from those first so powerful episodes to this point. I first discovered it four years or so ago and listened through the archive from the beginning. The topics covered at the start (taking up space, apologising, feeling comfortable in your own skin, our relationship with food, whether or not to have children and why that shouldn't define you) were so powerful and opened my eyes to so many things. DFW is an intelligent and articulate woman who seemed to start off with such fantastic ideas for helping women to stop feeling so guilty all the time for always feeling like we've failed in some way. Sadly, as the podcast became more and more woke I stopped listening as I began to feel like I was failing again. So many new hidden standards and trip wires - there was no way I could ever be good enough.

I no longer listened but it was still downloaded on to my phone, week after week. I finally deleted it shortly after JKR started getting all the abuse for her apparent transphobia (nonsense as we know). I had read her tweets and couldn't understand how any woman or feminist could see them as transphobic. She was merely standing up for her fellow women. When I saw DFW tweet that to make up for the harm JKR was causing she would send money to any transwomen of colour to atone for this harm I was dumbfounded. Did she do the same when Weinstein went to court and offer money to women who'd been sexually assaulted by men with power over them? No. Did she offer to hand money to women subject to VAWG when JKR described the abuse she had experienced? No. I felt so betrayed by a woman I had so looked up to.

I feel I will have to listen to this episode to hear for myself what was said but it pains me to do it.

I strongly agree. I even went to see her several years ago- really sad that something that was really great at the start and which had such a lot of potential has ended up here. The podcast did take a turn though and I had also stopped listening long before now.

I'm glad it's not just me. I was excited to meet her at a signing for the book when it was launched. It astounds me that she can't see why many women have a problem with all of this

A thought occurs to me. I wonder how many people now subscribe to The Guilty Feminist as compared to those who actively still listen. I have many podcasts that download constantly but I haven't listened to in months

Ah yes, "educate yourself".

Well, I did. That's why I'm utterly repulsed by Trans Rights Activism.

Is this Driscoll chap the 'comedian'?

If so, he popped onto my timeline last week and commented under one of my Tiny Owen images, and said. 'You should try doing some funny Photoshop. Like mine.'

That went well for him.

Deborah Francis White also issued a statement saying:

“I don’t want trans people to feel unsafe in The Guilty Feminist space so I’ve ask the lovely people who run my accounts to block & mute anything hurtful &/or written in bad faith. To anyone who has questions that are in good faith and are seeking to understand more, then email” etc etc and goes on to give contact details.

1. Hurtful or written in good faith? Sounds like ANY dissenting voices were seen to be in bad faith and conveniently blocked.

2. If you’re blocked how were you meant to see this statement?! Literally what is the point.

3. Genuinely sad to see that asking questions is considered so bad faith from a supposedly feminist website. How has it come to this?!

Me, either, Sianrose, though they would class me as one of them. I wish I had Moley's skills on the computer, I have a great photo of me in T-shirt (sleeves rolled up, where I would have kept my Pall Malls if I smoked), jeans, work boots, pointing a rifle at the camera (don't worry to those scared of guns, the magazine was removed), and I'm sure I looked very cis and heteronormative that day.

The dissemination of Critical Race Theory - which states ALL white people are innately racist - is to blame for this horrific school of thought.

It's already infected university campuses in America and we all know what the US does today, the UK does tomorrow.

Incidentally a BAME Tory education minister attempted to outlaw its teachings and - surprise surprise - she was met with howls of derision from Keir Starmer's Labour Party.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, in my experience most white people are racist, but then implicit bias tests show that most black people favor white people. Take a test sometime -- it's fun and can be surprising (I am strongly prejudiced in favor of black people and I thought I was being totally neutral). The problem that I have heard of CRT is that it ignores class -- how convenient -- and acts as though racism was a driving force even pre-capitalism.

Expand full comment

Nah, won't be taking that test 👍

'Implicit bias' is a myth aimed at giving credence to CRT.

Expand full comment

That implicit bias test is almost certainly fake science. Jesse Singal is persona non grata here b/c of his comments to Graham but putting that aside for a moment he wrote a great article on why they're bogus, well worth having a look at it. https://www.thecut.com/2017/01/psychologys-racism-measuring-tool-isnt-up-to-the-job.html

Expand full comment

Well, the implicit bias test was correct in my case, I am strongly biased in favor of black people. I think we can see how implicit bias works in this trans debacle -- remember all those men who thought they were so supportive of women? The women who thought they were supportive of women? A man in a bad wig and a dress comes along and those unbiased men and women drool all over him.

Reframe my trauma??

Anything else you'd like Mridul? A cup of tea? Shall I get you your slippers? Your smoking jacket? This was triggering in a way that surprised me. This person is showing they are incapable of holding the position they have lied to obtain, and cannot be a spokesperson advocating for the rights and safety of women. I think a man in that role would be castigated and sacked for similar, yet this transwoman can somehow use their male and supposedly female privilege to escape censure.

My heart breaks at how far we are sinking silently back and losing the rights my forebears fought for.

Expand full comment

It triggered me too. Just outrageously offensive.

I have tried not to think on this too much. It is distressing.

The more I consider it, the more disturbed I am that vulnerable women and girls may be encouraged to believe that their provision of support in this manner is the only way they can access the support they need. I think it unlikely that when moving through the fallout from rape or sexual assault, with the shockwaves that abuse ripples through your life, that this is an additional burden women should face. That is the wrong time to expect someone to speak up and say, by the way, I would like my support provided by a woman please. This is coercive. This must not even be a consideration, or expectation that you must accept a man or transperson, or need to think about that then request it. Knowing that a woman might then be embroiled in a justification that she is not a bigot is more than chilling. Pull even more bravery from somewhere to face that backlash. Who is she to determine which woman is the perfect enough type of victim to comply with her rules of intersectional gender ideology?

I am very angry that Mridul is using race and ethnic background to distract from women. I am not distracted Mridul. It is your inability to be honest and transparent I have an issue with. And the utter lack of self-awareness that is frequently a feature of how many men circulate through their and our lives - they don't need to know as it's not their experience, or that of their grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, cousins, colleagues and friends. I am heartsick of trying to calmly explain how shattering violence against women and girls is. How accepted, how invisible, how disputed somehow all at once. Being shattered and still carrying on.

Where are places of protection and sanctuary now? There are very specific rules of the sea that every sailor abides by - you save someone who is in distress, no debate, no parsing, no delay. Perhaps we need some for landlubber women and girls.

To centre men in everything particularly anything that is women’s. Oppression, domination punching down and effectively theft. The system is built on erasing women and using our reproductive and unpaid labour. We must be shut up and put men’s wants first. So bleedin’ obvious. The only people who don’t understand male privilege and their ability to dominate and control women are people who’ve never met any men. Women are treated as slaves routinely and have little or few rights still despite “laws” they’re also conditioned to think this is the way it should be. Such non sense. Love love your work!

Enough to make you sick. I have never voted SNP ,LibDem or Greens in my life ( I'm 74 and have ALWAYS voted Labour ) . I have never failed to vote ,either in General Elections ,Local Elections or Referenda and now I find myself almost politically homeless. I know what you mean about feeling almost politically homeless Susan. I’ve voted Labour or Green all my life. Watching Graham’s videos has opened my eyes to the fact that there are people who have dedicated their lives to fighting big corporations such as McDonald’s or helping vulnerable refugees, and are now being castigated for being bigots for voicing concerns about this issue. I can’t bring myself to vote Tory yet as the level of corruption and cronyism is staggering. I just wish more moderate centrist or left wing voices would speak up about this. The issue of women’s safety shouldn’t be a left/white or black/white issue. It should concern all.
