When I first started talking about women’s rights, the condemnation from many in Ireland’s entertainment industry was swift. The lack of intellectual rigour or basic empathy around the subject came as a huge surprise, with most either joining in the abuse aimed at me (hi Rubberbandits!), or remaining conspicuously silent in the face of it (hi, Dara O’Briain!). I tell ya, it’s a sobering thing to see how many people will happily join a mob or, while it’s doing its thing, whistle and look the other way.
Indeed, Clare Graham, who has a Disorder of Sex, is a woman. All people who have a Disorder of Sex (or are sometimes referred to as intersex) are always either male or female. There is no third sex, it doesn't exist, and nobody has ever had two functioning sets of sexual organs, male and female, has never happened.
I think of all the ugly things transologists do, dehumanising persons with Disorders of Sex (or intersex persons if you prefer) is one of the most disgusting. They really, really, don't want to be used for transologist purposes. They are all either male or female, with a disorder of sex. There's no leg spectrum, there's no sex spectrum, it's time this bloody nonsense was stamped out.
It's really hard to have hope when men are raping women in women's prisons, boys are demanding and receiving access to girl's change rooms, schools are teaching children transology instead of biology, men are stealing women's sporting trophies and political appointments, companies are going along with the deeply misogynistic slurs cis, menstruators, cervix havers, families in Australia are being instructed that they will have their children removed from them if they refuse to cut their breasts off and give them sterilising hormones, women are being threatened with rape and death publicly and regularly for saying "biology is real", and so much more. It's a horror show of gynophobia out there.
But this did give me a tiny little feeling of hope. "And so I received my first apology from someone with something to lose. The person in question even took out a paid subscription to the site."
I am so frightened for today's young women. I hope with all my heart this won't be the last mea culpa.
