I see Tezzy is spiralling.

Expand full comment

Trouble is that exact spiral - that losing grip on reality and losing control is what terrifies me. It's indicative of so much male violence it's too familiar for me to be relaxed about. It's seems an inbuilt feature of so much online discourse.

The rhetorical flourishes he attempts and his attempts to gain the upper hand over random posters on one substack shown some perseveration. He just cannot ever be wrong. And it's likely that only other men can stop him. It's VAWG in a nutshell. It needs men in uniforms and wigs to stop the naughty boy. Push push push until someone can stop him.

Some good news to share (UK): I got a reply from my MP after I forwarded her the Times article by Jo Bartosch (about Stonewall's access to Boris Johnson/ influence).

She stated that she 'shares the views' of Miriam Cates, Liz Truss and Kemi Badenoch, has spoken up about this subject in the past, and will pass on my views on the conversion therapy ban to the Government.

Hopefully she will vote against!

Good news. I get replies from my female MP which are written as if I've said the opposite of what I've actually said. In other words, I think her assistants are doing the work for her.

"Panti Bliss"? How could we have predicted this is a TRA?

It's either that or an overly enthusiastically named sanitary product, to be fair.

Graham, please remove Tez, he's had enough fun now? He's derailing every thread. And although it's a very clear example of the type of abuse and harassment that he and similar dish out and the insistence on being in places they are not welcome it's really wearing. Put subs up if you need, but I don't want him here and his toxic loopiness.

He has been given every chance not to troll and he persists. I've been putting up with this shit all my life and I've had enough.

Expand full comment

I've just raised my sub by another £150. Not sure how that will take effect, but this is surely enough so you can block him? I appreciate that you want to platform the style of harassment as it takes seeing it to believe it, but I will do as much as I can to keep places safe, including this one.

The constant onslaught from those like Tezzy reminds me of this, which is why I am so troubled by it:

"To this aversion of the intellectual elite for official historiography, to its conviction that history, which was a forgery anyway, might as well be the playground of crackpots, must be added the terrible, demoralizing fascination in the possibility that gigantic lies and monstrous falsehoods can eventually be established as unquestioned facts, that man may be free to change his own past at will, and the difference between truth and falsehood may cease to be objective and become a mere matter of power and cleverness, of pressure and infinite repetition."

― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism

She wrote about how the elites and the mob co-opted each other to their own ends in the lead up to the 2WW. It's creeping and easy to deflect as hyperbolic nonsense, but when I read about barristers from Middle Temple, and Institutions and lobby groups all promoting the same lines it feels familiar.

I want to hear from people who have different views but there is an intransigence from TRA trolls that shows that there is no engagement, is no talking, is no learning.

Expand full comment

Right on! Amen. It is demoralizing to see comments from and reply to someone who is only proselytizing and doesn’t care how you arrived at the view you hold, nor well-established scientific facts. Doesn’t do it to men, either? I’m not at all surprised.

Expand full comment

Good quote, thank you. Hannah Arendt is still so relevant

Expand full comment

I wish I could give you 20 thumbs-up for reading Hannah Arendt. My only gripe with her writing is the Eurocentric viewpoint, but what can one expect from a philosopher educated and working in the environment she did? There is much truth in The Origins of Totalitarianism.

That photo of the girl with bruises and scars where her healthy breasts should be is an incredibly bleak image. For the vast majority of these girls, the regret will be very tough to live with, as will their anger at the adults who should have protected them.

As is well documented, the vast majority of kids outgrow gender dysphoria. It's just their terrible luck that we're in a phase where gender dysphoria is turbo-charged by social media, and celebrated as some quazi-religious "awakening," not compassionately treated as dysphoria.

I posted on Twitter last night a clip of the two drag queens reading to children. I usually switch my account to private at night but last night I forgot. This afternoon I looked at Twitter and to my horror it had been viewed over 4,500 times …… I say horror because I was thinking I was going to also have comments saying I was a transphobe etc and would have to spend the day having to defend myself…..anyway…..joy of joys, I didn’t have one bad comment and all the retweets and comments were being supportive.

Tezzy is one of those who will answer women back, but not take on men because, yes, he's frit. He (mistakenly) believes that women are just waiting for a man to inform them what their opinions will be. He can't stand up to other men, though. The misogyny is strong with this one.

I think misogyny is too gentle a term to label his obvious sociopathy.

I'd like a "mute user" feature please.

Checking in this morning, 40 of the 100 or so comments here are from one user, which it appears carried on past 4:00am. Graham and JL, if you were waiting to work out what the dividing line was between allowing all views and "banging on the windows" to shut down the conversation, I think we're pretty much there.

Looking at Substack's moderation tools, you can ban a user from commenting which is also reversible if you just want to let someone cool their heels. I feel that at least would be very much appreciated.

I don't have a problem with opposing views being posted here, but someone posting forty comments should be writing their own Substack rather than hijacking someone else's.

This is to Tezzy, re last comment to me, not sure if it will appear in the right place.

One thing I have found, Tezzy, is that it's never a good idea to believe a stranger who says 'trust me', as you do. Twice. Yes, post those links else I won't believe you have them. You make the claim so up to you to prove it.

Now you say c** men & women engaging in public sex acts - if you mean together, how do you know the women aren't being coerced? I doubt the men are, strangely.

Anyone who posts Teen Vogue as their source, as you did, is suspicious.

Let me state it clearly for you: it is the male that is the problem, not the trans.

Final engagement with you. Go well.

Without my glasses I read the first line as “this is so Tezzy” ……. Perhaps that could be a catchphrase!!! Or “that’s so Tezzy”…… I’m sure new ones will be coming along anytime soon and when they says something stupid “that’s soooooooo Tezzy” 😂😂😂😂

Agreed. I've posted this previously but I think it' worth repeating:

I'd say Tezzy is doing a grand job for us. The undecided visitors who come for a look around this substack will see he hardly ever answers the questions and that he is, at best, a wind up merchant. On the occassions he does respond, his arguments are weak and flawed, or consist of links to his cherrry picked articles which he cannot substantiate. It can only be a good thing for people who aren't sure about us to come on here and see what the trans movement is all about (i.e. unsubstantiated nonsense) and to observe the kind of people behind it, i.e. people like Tezzy. He hurts the TRA cause more than promoting it. That's why I welcome his contribution. I very much doubt his posts would persuade anyone with a brain that he is on the right side of history.

What does everybody else think?

Expand full comment

I am newer here and am a socially inept person, so I will defer that decision to others more qualified to make it. I’ve learned there’s a purpose to it, and so I simply won’t respond anymore to Tezzy. I think we should change the term “tizzy fit” to “Tezzy fit.” I thought the name to be a play on “tizzy” anyway. Seems to fit!

I think as I said above that arguing for the sake of lurkers is sometimes worth it, but not here.

Expand full comment

theres no point arguing with a narc - he just wastes everyones time

Expand full comment

It can help sharpen our arguments though. Tezzy's posts that I've seen are at least polite and don't threaten rape&murder (very low bar, I know). He misses the point by a million miles, which I find quite amusing. We don't have to engage with him.

Expand full comment

Yes, I would not argue with his like, on the other hand, I've had a nice time writing abusing stuff about him. I know it's wrong but sometimes, we need a bit of a release.

Expand full comment

I don't feel abusive toward him just tired of his obvious lack of empathy with anyone or anything.

Expand full comment

I think it's beyond that. He's just sucking attention. Of course we can demolish his arguments but there's no point unless you are doing it, quite deliberately, for the benefit of lurkers, as is sometimes worth it on places like Mumsnet. Here, I don't think it is worth it. Best we all ignore.

Expand full comment

fair enough - like arguing in an empty room goes nowhere

Expand full comment

Unlike the rest of the forum, I'd like to see society open a debate about whether being trans should be allowed at all, and Tezzy's total inability to think linearly or rationally is quite useful to me as ammunition. S/h/it degrades and humiliates the transgender 'community'.

Discussions are getting de-railed though, and that may need some muting.

Expand full comment

It can be a good exercise for supporting one's viewpoint but after a while it's just hugely annoying. I suspect lots of people in real life find Tez hugely annoying, which is why he has to pay to hang out here.

Expand full comment

Added to which may be the slightly possible perspective that Tezzy secretly has doubts about his her ideology and is looking for a possible escape route. So do bear that in mind. It would be ironic of we too begin to adopt the truculent no debate stance. Tezzy has been provocative - I should think we are adult enough to cope with that so long as he she doesn't get abusive and threatening.
