A propos of "I have no time for the middle and far Left any more", please bear in mind that some of us see ourselves very much as Left. For myself, I am as much as ever in favour of replacing the capitalist system with a democratic-socialist one and would love to see a party which promotes the working-class interest with the same vigour that the neoliberals of the last forty years have helped the economic elite. For me, women's interests and working-class interests go hand in hand, whereas gender ideology is part of neoliberalism and represents the surrender of most of the FAKE Left to it.
Trouble is, Danny, as ever, it will be either Labour or Tories, as ever...even if Labour have to share govt with Lib Dems, women are still stuff and in dire danger, as are our girls...and the boys too, re trans conveyer belt. I'm politically homeless. It's only the RIGHT who are even vaguely standing up for women, and even they falter at times. Never felt more like not voting for any of them in my life!
And if the Tories get in again it won’t matter because we’ll either starve or freeze to death.
I grew up in the Strike and between 1984 - 1985 my community experienced a much milder version of what the British government did to the Northern Irish.
Namely. coppers under the regulation height for the time with no collar numbers cracking skulls (squaddies), Special Branch knocking about and all the other good stuff like the BBC doctoring the footage of Cortonwood to make it look as if the mounted cavalry charge was a response to picket violence, rather than what kicked it off.
There was no state help given to those brilliant, strong mining community women’s groups that politically organised. There was a ton of support however from the LGB community. And Sinn Fein; and (ahem), the Soviets. I wouldn’t be surprised though to read that it was actually led by trans folk in Owen Jones next book.
After the Brighton bombing in 1984 the miners had a saying that the people who carried it out should be hanged for treason. Not for doing it, but for not doing it right.
The Tories don’t care about women and neither do Viscount Rothermere or Paul Dacre. If they did, they wouldn’t have demonised single mothers in Hitler’s favourite newspaper for years, nor condemned so many to poverty over the last twelve years and cut services that benefit women to the bone.
This is just another stick for their culture war and whilst politics makes for strange bedfellows at times they are ultimately untrustworthy.
Thank you for the history; there was some alternative press in the period you mention, but it wasn't easily available in NYC where I was living. That's one good thing now: I find plenty of genuine information online, preferably from someone on the ground and not a "hotel journalist." I discovered all I needed to know about the BBC the day I listened to their reporter talk about a teachers' strike in Chiapas, Mexico, from their HOTEL ROOM in Mexico City, then I listened to a reporter for Free Speech Radio News broadcasting from Chiapas.
Yes, the right-wing has no genuine interest in women's welfare, and the right-wing includes the Clintons, Obama, and Biden. Clinton destroyed welfare as we knew it in the U.S. and passed a lot of draconian legislation. Obama's misogyny came right to the fore when he replaced sex with gender identity, and that miserable old geezer Biden couldn't reinstate that quickly enough (first day in office!).
My far left friends are also definitely NOT on board with this gender stuff. In fact my first in-real-life TERF friend is hard left. All of my terfy friends are either left or Centre left
Thank you, Danny, for sense. I don't know if Graham still has his comment up regarding the 2016 presidential election -- first thing I saw when I checked out this blog -- regarding Hillary Clinton, whom he evidently admired. I am always stunned when anyone admires Clinton, who is a thoroughgoing war criminal, just as Biden is. These people are not remotely "left" or anything like it, and both are enthusiastic supporters of transgenderism, as they have been ordered to be by their owners. I'm also amazed that someone who has been demonized in the pages of the Guardian gives no thought to demonizing other people because he presumably reads copy that tells him to do so.
And I've seen nothing in the least leftist by the wokies who think they're anarchists or whatever. They know nothing of history, they know nothing of what is happening in their communities, they have no concern for their nation or the world, they just sign on to gender ideology because they think it makes them cool like the tattoos and piercings they sport. They engage in no action, even the simplest things like being aware of an important referendum stopping a power line from Quebec to Massachusetts.
I personally think that Biden is pushing the trans agenda out of (misguided) family loyalty. TIM trans-activist Sarah McBride was tight with his son Beau, to the point of being made an honorary Biden; I'm sure that Beau's premature death helped put his judgement (and taste in friends) beyond question as far as dad is concerned. So anything that good ol' "Sarah" advocates must be A-OK, lest we besmirch the memory of St. Beau.
And I understand that Biden has the urge to do "what Beau would have wanted", because he loved his son. But the rest of us didn't. And shouldn't be expected to. And DAMN sure shouldn't have to make devastating personal sacrifices "for Beau". Or his womanface-wearing buddy. You wanna do that in his name, Biden, you do it by yourself. Leave everybody else out of it.
No, Biden is enforcing the Democratic Party agenda. If Biden cared about any living human being, you might think he would care about his grandchildren. But as Michael Hudson the economist put it in a recent essay, the United States has absolutely no plans to combat climate change whatsoever.
I do not like to personalize bought politicians' motives. Biden picked up many of Obama's appointees and policies, including transgenderism. They are both war criminals and abysmal human beings.
Great Glinner's Twitter tonight. Gotta say, I just love the Reality is Real graphic. The horse. The duo pipes. The shield. The flaming sword. Perfection. A great collaboration between Glinner and Moley.
Graham, you seem much mre upbeat when writing these days - ever since the Mail interview. I'm glad. Feeling listened to and to have your voice heard is so important. I'm here to be with like-minded folk and have my say (and support you), mainly because I can't speak out in real life as myself as my work is Stonewall-captured and a family member is a TRA. Thanks for being an oasis of sanity in this madness and as you say, Vive la Résistance!
And I loved the Gender Store reviews. Bravo Moley.
Local elections are seldom thrilling, but local councils control a lot of the resources that are intended for child safeguarding etc. Please let them know you’re interested.
Great to see Owen Jones might be taken down a peg or two. Let’s hope Ash Sarkar, Laurie Penny & Billy Bragger etc follow. (I have my doubts about Penny, who seems to be an extraordinarily slimey customer...)
Very disturbing though to see the spread of trans rhetoric into maternity & pregnancy literature. We could do with specialist focus groups to tackle different aspects of the war against women - from language, to sports, to prisons, to law, to education, to health care and representation .... to media watch.
I suppose some existing protest organisations are doing this - Fair Play for Women / Maya Forstater’s group / Standing for Women, etc? It’s such a huge spread of assaults it’s overwhelming. It’s been planned for years, so it’s going to take years to unpick, challenge & push back. At least the intention of the radical trans movement is now clear, out in the open & observable; so in that way it’s easier to challenge.
I’m in it for the long haul. Solidarity with resisters & De-Cisters!
Cheering you all on - brilliant to see everything moving. I've donated to the fight against stonewall. Filing out my census today - paper copy "Believer in biology". 👍😊 Adding my voice to others on twitter. Been blocked by women labour - those twits that tweet! 🙄
Brilliant! Get that shop open soon. I need a 'UK Women Say No to Gender Identity Bollocks' to add to my collection. I only have 6 (3 by The Famous Artist Birdie Rose - Dinosaurs Hoarding their Rights, Worthy of Respect in a Dinocratic Society (love that one with the T-cake munching Dino) and Women's Rights are Human Rights; 2 Wild Womyn Workshop - This Witch Doesn't Burn and Women Can't be Bullied out of Resistance and one by Lily Maynard - Born Not Worn.
There was someone raising a complaint online that their culture is being appropriated - it was about them using "two-spirit" as one of their gender identities. It's shocking how much this ideology will take blatantly from others. It has no right.
Omg the gender store reviews were awesome!
Thanks!
Great update - thanks! Chickens rapidly coming home to roost for entitled men and handmaidens these past couple of weeks! I love a good come-uppance!

I agree, it's all individualised identity politics with no basis in material reality (sex and class).
Trouble is, Danny, as ever, it will be either Labour or Tories, as ever...even if Labour have to share govt with Lib Dems, women are still stuff and in dire danger, as are our girls...and the boys too, re trans conveyer belt. Yes indeed!
This. All the far left people I know view the rise of identity politics as a divisive Trojan Horse.
My far left friends are also definitely NOT on board with this gender stuff. In fact my first in-real-life TERF friend is hard left. All of my terfy friends are either left or Centre left
I really wish Graham would gain some sophistication from his blacklisting.
To quote Glinner and Arthur Matthew’s Fast Show character Ted, “I wouldn’t know about that, sir.”
Thank you, Danny, for sense. The illustration is by Nina Paley actually! I just adapted it slightly (with permission) for our store purposes.
oh, good to know. It's brilliant, as are you.

Thanks very much, most kind.
Could I suggest that anyone in the U.K. where local elections are happening, email the candidates of ALL parties with the questions suggested here:

Local elections are seldom thrilling, but local councils control a lot of the resources that are intended for child safeguarding etc. Please let them know you’re interested.
Thank you, you have given me the courage to stand up and be counted as a transwidow who cares about the rights of all sex based rights for women.
Great to see Owen Jones might be taken down a peg or two. Let’s hope Ash Sarkar, Laurie Penny & Billy Bragger etc follow. (I have my doubts about Penny, who seems to be an extraordinarily slimey customer...)

Brilliant molery! I’ve been reading out the reviews & we’re laughing so hard we startled the cat.
Thanks! I get a lot of feedback on Twitter about similarly startled cats, I have to say!
Cats are fans!
That Alex Stein clip is amazing. Can someone do this in Brighton Council?
And anyone who thinks city councils in the U.S. are "left" is daft.
Hahaha - Hergay's Tintins's Captian Adrian Haddock -- so clever, well done 😂
Cheers! Rather silly I know, but somewhat quite amusing!
Cheering you all on - brilliant to see everything moving. I've donated to the fight against stonewall. Filing out my census today - paper copy "Believer in biology". 👍😊 Adding my voice to others on twitter. Been blocked by women labour - those twits that tweet! 🙄

Hope lovely/sharp Helen Staniland hasn’t flown the Mess nest
💕
No this is just a side gig!
Phew thanks 😅
Getting her hustle on. Good!
More excellent stuff for us WIRFs to enjoy. (‘Women-Inclusionary’)
