Kezia Dugdale is the latest politician- today’s Times - to claim that there are 13 countries using self ID and with 350 million people this is ‘one hell of a data set’ in which no evidence of predatory men abusing this system has been found. How can they be unaware of the relentless reports such as this guy in Brazil, WiSpa, rapists in women’s prisons, attacks at women’s rallies, men on lesbian dating sites, and on and on. A cursory glance at Reduxx is all you need. Why are they lying? What is in it for Kezia?

Expand full comment

Her attitude is completely at odds with the basic principles of safeguarding as well.

It's very easy to be unaware if you only speak to cherry-picked people and spend the rest of your time with your eyes closed & fingers in your ears going 'la la la la la! I can't hear you!'

Kezia’s partner or perhaps wife is in the SNP. Can’t recall if she is an MSP but obviously an influence on the weak minded Kez.

I tried again to explain this all to my so-called "feminist" husband. He said to me "I can't talk about this, it's boring". He then restates what he thinks I've said and strawmans it into basically I'm being transphobic. No matter what way I say it, he only hears what he wants to hear. I almost left him the other day, I was so maddened by this liberal-cloaked misogyny.

Absolutely. I have managed to hold on to my very best friend, though she can't understand the grooming and child abuse of recent years. The only cross words we've had for our entire friendship was about DQSH and I've known her for about 15 years now.

I feel so strongly about it but can't make her see. It really is so divisive, mainly because of the political polarisation.

Rather than explosive rants, I now send her things the gender extremists are putting out there and saying things like "who are the bigots? 😂"... "who are the converters? 😂" "Really!? 🤔 I can see why people are so against this!"

We love taking the piss out of things and people, so I have just extended this to TQ/gender bullshit, as if it really should be on the table (we joke about everything else). I try to pretend it's not controversial. It's a work in progress.

After I've sent her some of their harmful stuff, I sometimes say "on the plus side, South Park is going to have such a laugh in the next few years". This may sound terrible but I've tried EVERY other tact with her! I'm not making light of what is happening - I think the whole thing has been (and continues to be) devastating - but I am trying to get her to see that gender is not real, not scientific, not to be taken seriously. It's a despicable lie and it is to be treated with utter contempt.

I think sharing things the gender borgs are saying themselves is one way to show WE "GC" people are reacting to what they are putting out there. They are the instigators, the pushy ones, the ones trying to destabilise society. We just happen to be saying no to a mad and dangerous idea.

It's so hard to navigate. The TQ have groomed society, not just vulnerable children.

Indeed. Guilt, ignorance and faux liberalism ("live and let live"), which we all know to mean surgical correction 🙈 The "right-wing conspiracy theory" is such an irresistible lie for lots of lefties who would rather be goodies in the eyes of society than look into the facts and stand on shaky ground, socially / professionally.

Yes, and in this instance - I think that 'Be nice' and the general liberal/left attitude (of which I *should* be a part) is more akin to 'looking the other way as it's all too difficult to think about properly'.

Expand full comment
Dec 20, 2022·edited Dec 20, 2022Liked by mole at the counter

Absolutely. Looking into it properly would mean converging too much with what they are told right-wingers believe. I think lots of people are more afraid of that than anything - they are not afraid of what conclusion they might come to about trans itself, but what that conclusion might mean for their political allegiances. Will they discover a problematic person, someone with politically incorrect views? They surely will 😂

My friend was outraged when news came that the Tavistock was closing. She wondered where all the children who needed help would go. It's a valid concern of course - of course they need a service to get them on the right track. But that's when it really hit me. People really believe the NHS was meeting a need, they believe that the gender industry is a legitimate one, that trans kids exist or that "gender incongruence" is a medically recognised and treatable thing. Not gender dysphoria / body dysmorphia as such, but the specific notion that your gendered soul doesn't match your biological sex. Most of the problem is how we are thinking about things, the issue is not with our bodies themselves.

I genuinely believe that persuading others relies on one thing and one thing alone - proving to them that this is a manufactured medical crisis, a complete fabrication, a symptom of illiberal and/or irresponsible parenting. Suddenly children need drugs and surgeries to be their true selves? Really? The cohort of kids on the waiting list for Mermaids/Tavistock should NEVER have been on the books of an affirmative-only charity/gender clinic to begin with. Help with budding homosexuality? Help with the struggles of autism/neurodiversity? Of course! But not gender roles. And now lots of wonderful parents can't stop their children going down the trans tunnel as a result of how this whole thing was conceived and marketed, and the contagion that ensued.

I heard a great one the other day - Arty said it during the Mess. The gender industry is full of ambulance chasers who cause the crashes themselves. They sell sickness and then they create a whole industry to catch [and politicise] the victims.

Either it's a pseudoscience that's scooping up all the impressionable, vulnerable kids under one "umbrella" that doesn't meet their individual needs or look at their co-morbidities and rakes in BILLIONS of dollars... OR... there is a genuine epidemic of children who have suddenly been born in the wrong bodies, all in the past 10 years.

I think we all know which one of those sounds more like a conspiracy theory!

Sorry - I'm on one tonight! 😂

I'm sorry to hear this Elswick 😣 It has been devastating for friendships and relationships. I'm pretty much alone in my GC stance. I don't take any sh*t. I have one friend for whom I tow the line because she is so blinkered, but I don't ever pretend I believe things I don't. That is my bottom line. The irony is that in being so hard-line, it does sort of feed into the "right-wing prudish/bigot" smear. So I'm trying to poke fun at the BS rather than rant about it (there is always a serious undertone). I do have to rant sometimes - I get infuriated now and then. I say "we wouldn't accept it from the right, so why are we accepting it from the left?" This helps to "centre" me, politically and hopefully shows I'm being objective. No one should be teaching children this garbage / affirming people's gender. "No one is above scrutiny when it comes to children". The strength of the tribalism among the gender believers is something I've never encountered in my life and I'm in my 30s! Criticising the drag queens who insist on influencing children in the company of the gender zealots, is like insulting someone's God in an organised religion. How those 2 things have ever become comparable is beyond me! It's the religion of the hard left! I hope the true believers see the light. It is so truly cult-like.

Good for you, Elswick! 😍

Helen Joyce talks about the importance of reaching law / policy makers. I spend waaaaay too much time thinking about how I can persuade people in my life. It is very useful, I'm armed with information, I'm ready for people's ignorance, but it does get me down when people can't see the light, so perhaps I should take a leaf out of your book and use more of my energy challenging people further up the chain! 😍

p.s. "We wouldn't accept it from the right, so why are we accepting it from the left?" works particularly well backed up by Mermaid's gender spectrum (Barbie / G.I Joe). You know the one? Give it a google if not. It feels very conservative and right-wing. Victorian, actually.

What are tomboys being led to believe about themselves?

Are effeminate boys being led to believe they are less male for being so? This is old fashioned homophobia. Is this - or is this not - the very premise for homophobic bullying, that feminine boys are *really* girls? Aren't we therefore telling these bullies they are spot on? Boys who are naturally effeminate and/or who go on to be gay aren't have a female gender identity. Isn't that conversion therapy? Gay conversion by gender? It sure sounds like it!

We are losing our gender non-conforming youth to this cult, and children who will go on to be gay are more vulnerable to the idea that they need surgical correction.

Az Hakeem does a great talk on how trans is the new emo! Very useful to show the contagious element and also fun as a throwaway comment to get people thinking. "All the kids used to be into pink hair and dark make up. These days they're into sex changes!" Maybe this will get people to realise that there is no genuine youth movement of today. For children of today, it's all about escaping their sex and irreversibly damaging their healthy bodies.

Hang on in there! The ship is slowly turning...

In the sense that he says he stands for Women’s equality. He even wanted us to go to the Women’s marches when they were happening after Trump and Me Too. He’s very “progressive” and normally very fair minded. But on this issue I fear he’s been brainwashed by the media and medical establishments. He looks for evidence and sees that the AAP etc tow the party line. Anything I say or point to sounds like conspiracy theories to him. I’m so afraid about our daughters being talk this shite in schools. He thinks it’s not a problem.

As he is an atheist, I bet he WOULD have a problem if they taught young earth creationism as fact and made everyone wear crucifix badges to declare their faith to the young earth god.

I’m a Christian and I wouldn’t tolerate that. Yet he thinks science must’ve changed and because he’s not a biology expert, he defers to Scientific America etc 😡

I hate this world 😞

Dec 20, 2022·edited Dec 20, 2022

Oh this is truly maddening! I think this is a huge part of the problem. 99% of institutions are complicit / are pushing it, the medical profession (including scientific journals), charities, even autism charities and the Samaritans. Of course it seems right if it's backed up by every authority in the land. It's also plausible for people to believe that your average person couldn't possibly understand the supposedly complex neurology of "transness."

It is the biggest and most despicable lie ever told. I don't know if I outright blame people for not being able to see through it. I'm taking a career break and without studying and listening to lots of viewpoints and really spending time on this, I don't think I would understand what is going on. I don't even get cross about close-mindedness and a refusal to do any critical thinking. What does rile me up is being judged as a bigot for believing differently and being smeared as right wing.

I don't think my closest friend can imagine that there could be a lie told on this scale, with so many advocates and supporters. "Everyone's into it", it has happy positive vibes [on the surface, all people see], it's colour, it's fun, it's freedom of expression, it's human rights. It's progress.

The money going into it is insane. When I show people the amount of money being funnelled into this, instead of someone seeing this as a corporate machine, this instead seems to justify that medicalising vulnerable children and young people is necessary, that new transgender science has indeed been found. This is all philanthropy, apparently.

It will be a very rude awakening for those who believe it all. I feel your frustration, I really do. Jennifer Bilek does some brilliant tweets exposing the money side of this if that is of any use to you.

I suppose the main thing for now is to protect your daughters. My friend's daughters are thinking critically about this. One is very much a tomboy and she is a bit cross at the insinuation that she can't be a tomboy without being thought of a boy. She sees the sexism and she is not impressed. I honestly think - for the first time ever - we need to equip and empower kids with an attitude problem against woke teachers. In my view, independence of thought is the best defence. Children have to believe they know better when it comes to this subject.
