I happened upon a piece by John Boyne this week where he announces why he’s leaving Twitter.

“But ask yourself this: if Twitter had never existed, would Donald Trump still be just an eccentric New York builder with a great haircut? Would Graham Linehan be entertaining us with his latest television series? Would Caroline Flack still be alive?”

I too imagine a world without Twitter, as it is a world where John Boyne wouldn’t have had a chance to feed me to the mob to save his skin, which he did as soon as he got the opportunity. Trans rights activists are just insane, it was the cowardice of people like Boyne that was and remains my real problem. Boyne presumably thinks I should have been writing sitcoms rather than trying to stop children from mutilating and sterilising themselves. Next time, maybe I’ll just write a clueless novel cheering it all on.

I was there it was a completely innocuous remark and absolutely about having sympathy for trans people. That @MickBarryTD chose to repeat this innuendo in the Dáil is outrageous.

UPDATE: Kirrin Medcalf may be a woman

Evidence coming in that Medcalf is a ‘transman’, that is to say, a woman. A friend commented: “I feel conflicted - bet this is a person who was on the outside of a social network at school, identified as a victim, indulged by everyone, becomes a professional trans person, lives in a silo, and this is the end point - she makes decisions that result in women being raped in prison. So I feel a bit sorry for her, but I’m also very angry, I’m not sure who I’m angry with yet, but I suspect it’s not Kirrin - it’s with whoever identified her as likely to be a Useful Idiot.”

I feel exactly the same way, and I’m taking down my little comedy post about it. If Kirrin is indeed a woman, my heart goes out to her. She’s possibly as much of a victim as the people she may have successfully bamboozled with this video.
