Dr Who has already become rubbish, when all episodes have some kind of preachy point. What on earth is wrong with being entertaining, intriguing etc? I switched off when Jodie whatsername became the doctor. Nothing whatsoever to do with her being a woman doctor - quite the opposite, I really wanted it to be good - but the storylines were just awful. Each episode was worse than the last. So we gave up. Certainly won't be going back now!
As an American who has access to very few Britcoms, the ones we get that aren't ancient are terrible. I try watching and no laughs. No laughs! Let's see, what happened to the good writers? Oh, yes! this is a blog by a good writer who got CANCELLED! And, of course, PBS never showed any of Graham's comedies that I'm aware of, not fuddy-duddy enough.
Never seen Fr Ted? You've missed out! I do like the "new" Dr Who series with Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant, there are some brilliant episodes and the story arc was very clever. But then it all started going pear-shaped when Russell T Davies left and also the budget got cut. They started just trying to preach at you and it got progressively worse. The Jodie Whittaker episodes are unwatchable to me... watched the first few then gave up. Was never remotely gripped.
Oh, I've seen Father Ted, renting it from Netflix along with Black Books and The IT Crowd. I sent Graham some priceless photos a penpal sent me of Catholic clergy giving the Nazi salute after I saw the Father Ted episode where Ted looks like Hitler because of the black square on the window. I AM NOT A RACIST! I'm giggling just remembering!
I can't stand preachy stories, there are so many ways to get points across without hitting the audience over the head. And that's why I love old movies written by writers with suspect political histories (read communist sympathizer), they made subtle points very quietly. Whereas an old Perry Mason episode I have was clearly written by the CIA -- very powerful at the CBS network -- is absolute shit with a story that makes no sense, characters with no motivation, a father who commits a murder and watches his daughter being tried for it.
This is getting riper & riper. Turns out the episode is about the good doctor being erased. That's right - Juno Dawson's story is erasing the only woman to play Dr Who. Us males just can't help ourselves sometimes!
Not really. In his storyline, he was a friend of Louis, the transman nurse. He was in the hospital due to domestic violence by his boyfriend. He was jealous of Louis because Louis had gotten surgery and he couldn't afford it, so he stabbed Louis and almost killed her. It also turned out that Louis was stealing from the hospital to help Juno's character but her mother who was the CEO of the hospital got blamed for it.
Ah ha ha! I had no idea that twitter's major shareholder is the tolerant and inclusive... Kingdom of Saudi Arabia! That puts the silencing of feminists and gay rights activists in a whole new light.
Over to you Billy Bragg, Laurie Penny and all the other "useful idiots" whom twitter deems acceptable. Ever get the feeling you've been played...?
I was going to post the very same sentiment. Saudi Arabia controlling Twitter makes so much sense! What better way to manipulate the West! It's just worrying how fast so mnay folks folded or jumped on the bandwagon. How easily they are handing over free speech and the rights of women, children and homosexuals. It really shows how some people have few values or morals.
Silly rabbit! Haven't you heard that that gay is for straights? Specifically straight people who like to fancy themselves the opposite sex? If you're exclusively same-sex-attracted, you're not GAY, you're a bigot! (For refusing to accept these wannabes as one of you, and let them get into your pants on that basis.)
Guess the C of E has decided that it wants nothing to do with same-sex couples, only same-gender ones... such as the OH SO CUTTING-EDGE combo of a woman... and a man (who thinks of himself as a woman in his head).
So now (12th May) please put forward your predictions for how Elon Musk will change the algorithms, the "moderating", the advertising policy of Twitter? He is a master of self-promotion, so I assume that Twitter will "conquer the internet"!?
