Yes, it has, And good for them. The Twitter thread linked to by BatThink above is a good browse of their free speech values. If they manage to stick to this direction under pressure from all sides, I will be impressed and pleased.
The Guardian could learn a thing or two about their Free Expression values I think.
Berkeley must be a real hellhole with this dude there and the torture dude and all the other freaks. The U.S. government making sure there is no new Free Speech Movement!
Rant away! Wait until you see hat Stella Creasy has just said...
"The differences are to do with whether that is a prerequisite to experience oppression or whether those who become women are also targeted by the patriarchy because they become women."
The things she has been saying on Twitter this last couple of days - she claims in defence of all the tiring 'abuse' she is receiving - have been dreadful.. pretty damn unpleasant towards certain individuals. Misdirection, bullshit and lies....
This is partly because anything is now declared 'abuse' or 'abusive and hateful'. It seems to give free rein to actual hate profilerating. I'm sure she does get awful abuse, and as a woman in politics, but when having a different opinion is decried as 'abuse' or asking her to explain her position is deemed 'abuse', or even being consistent, it really blurs what actual abuse is. And the actual abuse women and men are receiving.
MPs who do and say silly things, or try to shut down dissent, or tell women to shush are likely to be called out. That's not abuse and we're not all bots. It must be very hard to have so many people disagree and be asked to put forward your view and support for certain causes in a cogent manner.
Even better: could the wonderful GC men co-ordinate with women cyclists to set up another cycling organisation open only to the single sex of biological women? "Women's Cycling"
I think it may yet come to that, but that it would take huge organisational skills, commitment, fundraising, seeking sponsorship, negotiating use of grounds... And women’s sports don’t get much coverage anyway.
A demonstration as a one-off to highlight the absurdity should be cheap, require less time commitment, and could attract headlines along the lines of “Men invade women’s sporting event”...
It's also really tough to have more than one 'Women's Cycling' in the area of 'Women's Cycling'. This underscores how the dilution of all these words has real-world effects. The TRAs refuse to give up the term woman and scream it in our faces. So women have no identifiable difference or category any longer.
When considering all the stakeholders you need to consult with on major consultations you discover the sometimes hundreds of different lobby groups you never heard of with very similar names. And it would inevitably be the women being seen as an offshoot or lobby group against the 'main' and funded 'women's cycling which is actually now including men as they 'identify' as women. You'd have to negotiate with all rights, and convince people that you deserve the place or admin support, or place on the field as they'll say, but 'Women's Cycling' already has a place or competition or coverage, do you want another? Why, as women are already represented? The fact the women include or are in fact men, seems not to register. The women box was ticked. Hurrah how inclusive. We get inclusivity points by including more men! And as we see with other sports, men who age out or underperform in their male categories can just switch categories and sex.
It's like setting up a new political party, called Labour (who still believe only women have a cervix) or Green Party (ditto) or SNP (ditto) or Liberal Democrats (ditto). You'd be trying to prove you are different by proving you are the same as what others claim they identify as or 'are'.
Blimey! Well: as I said above, creating a league would be a lot of work!
So think it would be more organisable as a protest for a bunch of GC men to agree among themselves to all enter one specific women’s race. The rules allow it, if they allow self-ID.
Basically as a one-off, for the spectacle. To show British Cycling what it has done here.
I laughed my hat off at the "72 -part BBC series"!!! Great work! I don't know who they is but the toddler togs and smug grin are good indicators for lack of charisma. At least musicians in the 90s were HOT!
The bloated Lavery adieu is something else. Free speech as long as it can be censored.
Twatter responses to Lulu Cheng Meservy's statement for Substack are fascinating reading too.
"Misinformation!", "HATE!", "bigotry!" (exclusively Transphobia) , probably "racism!" and obviously the actual "KILLING of hundreds of people" due to this platform existing.
I can't help visualising angry babies screaming these insults from highchairs because Mummy (or Daddy) hasn't adequately warmed the Alphabetti Spaghetti!
Also noted a few punters furious that Substack vetoes porn and erotica. I'm sure there are a couple of other areas online they could try.
Nope. Can't do it. What about the music, Freddie? Nothing to say about the artistry, the inspirations or the output, just PERIOD. I think the new gen are so intrinsically boring that navel gazing has developed in to self harm and exhibitory obsessions with bodily functions. Can't wait to see the Monster horde that supplant this lot.
99% projection...bile,garbage,stench and slime, but even Grace knows it's the persona that was bringing in the $$$....not an original literary talent...just a second rate writer exploiting the TWAW grift. "I’ve never been under any illusions about why a literary scholar specializing in Victorian literature and psychoanalysis was offered a lot of money by a tech start-up. (A lot for me; obviously, pennies for them.) It’s because I’m a trans woman"
"In 1885, "gross indecency" between two men was made illegal - and in 1921, a similar law was discussed for women as well. But this didn't get very far in the House of Lords, partly because they didn't want to discuss the matter. This was, in part, because they believed women were so impressionable, if they heard about women having sex with other women, they might want to try it for themselves."
Whereas today politicians believe women are so impressionable they will believe humans can change sex and trans women are most marginalised group in society.
That article is very revealing: it uses identity instead of orientation, and talks about organising ' the world around the kinds of desires that you have' as if that's a great improvement in our lives.
"Even in the 19th century, it's very difficult to talk about gay or lesbian identity," says Harry Cocks, associate history professor at the University of Nottingham.
.....
"People have always challenged gender norms and sexual norms," Prof Cocks adds.
"The idea that you can organise the world around the kinds of desires that you have, I think, is a very recent idea."
The latest iteration of the rainbow symbol has been colonized (to use their language). Pallid, regressive, stereotypical, “boy and girl” pastel blue and pink, aggressively outlined in black; a destructive “trans” arrow stabbing into the rainbow. Intrusive, threatening, intimidating —a flag of domination planted where it does not belong.
Definitely pallid and lacking in joy. I reckoned it looks like 70s institution colours, perhaps indicating the current age of the movement's core TRAs!
I'd like an animated version with it moving in like the Dad's Army map and arrows. Who do you think you are kidding Mr Stonewall? Or with the Jaws theme.
Graun been on full force and 'Stonewall said that bad thing was bad' manoeuvres again today. Pointing out that homophobia is alive and well. Just realised that have they? What's that you say Sooty, sexual racism claims distracted Ruth did you say? Yes, I think they've made that up too, yeah it's bollix.
Oh Moley, I get such a kick out of your take on the absurdities up with which we have to put (a nod to WC). The tabs on the newspaper -- gender, more gender, even more fucking gender ... ! Thanks for the chuckles.
Thanks very much! I did two of these - The first one was less absurd than this - but still pretty damn absurd! Then again - so was the original BBC article.
Which - I must add - as in their 'NEWS' section, FFS!
How and why is this in any way news outside of this person's dreary, stifling, back-patting, validating circle of non binary and whatever-non-conforming, tofu-eating, sandal-wearing, Shoredistch-living, Guardianista friends?
Why does the BBC have to push this upon os so often?
:-) The whole of Japan are politely looking away, yawning and letting them mither over how virtuous they are. Next we know they'll be demanding it's a sexual identity on their passports. Up the tofu one!
And tofu here in the U.S. isn't much like tofu in Asia. I love dim sum restaurants and one in Boston had hot tofu in the winter and cool tofu in the summer, and it was delicious, slightly sweet and very creamy. Your comment made me laugh, always grateful!
Autotrader is bizarre, yes. That really came from left field. If you'd asked me to list 50 companies that wouldn't find it necessary to pander to this overly inclusive nonsense, then they may well have been in that list. So odd...
The fact that Autotrader have anything to do with the trade in autos I find repugnant. How dare they. It's so oppressive. I need them to consider those feelings too.
I think as much as the Spotify thing might be about Shrier and co, it's about artists who've always been unhappy about the cut they get from being on the platform taking an opportunity to be applauded for leaving it and generating sales elsewhere.
"Hey everybody I'm leaving Spotify on principle, aren't I great? Buy my DVDs on my website" is the rankest financially motivated virtue signaling.
Just for fun i checked the twitter account of Jo Liss. It's hilarious. All this dude does is photoshop different company's ads then tweets them to tell them their ads are near a hateful statement! That's quite the gig!
I had a cursory count of these 'complaints' - and there are approximately 34 since the start of November. All with similar wording - because you know 'copy and paste' is so much easier than making a genuine complaint.
Whether they are all Photoshop or not is impossible to say. But he/she is proficient in some sort of coding it would appear, so it could be some IT jiggery pokery at work also.
So - AutoTrader have been duped.
Which is even worse than acting on a genuine complaint of course - Even less of a back bone.
Vis a vis the comment about Owen Jones I detect a disturbing degree of support for the state of Israel in the Glinner update of late. If you don't know that the Israeli government was the original propaganda purveyor that the TRA lobby learned much of their counter-factual, attacking tactics from... then you're a muppet. Israel disguises its war crimes with propaganda, the TRA lobby disguises its medical experimentation and misogynistic crimes with propaganda of exactly the same kind, and attacks its enemies with the same weapons.
I have spoken in the past about Israeli right wing governments using the charge of antisemitism to stifle discussion about Palestinians and how people like Jones, instead of rejecting these tactics, embrace them when it comes to women talking about their rights.
Really! That’s it, exactly. Normalization of fetishists is what it is. I have zero tolerance for narcissists, having survived that dynamic in my family of origin. Wondering now if one can be a fetishist *without* being a narcissist. Hmm. 🤔
Lavery: "But for me, free speech is too important..." (at the end of that diatribe 'announcement).
Also Lavery: "No, not for Graham Linehan."
'Scholar', my arse. Shame on Berkeley.
We should have known they would come for Substack eventually. Let's hope it remains as steadfast against the gender tide as it has so far.
Yes, it has, And good for them. The Twitter thread linked to by BatThink above is a good browse of their free speech values. If they manage to stick to this direction under pressure from all sides, I will be impressed and pleased.
The Guardian could learn a thing or two about their Free Expression values I think.
(Well, a lot realy!)
Berkeley must be a real hellhole with this dude there and the torture dude and all the other freaks. The U.S. government making sure there is no new Free Speech Movement!
Arrrrrgggghhhhhh! How many times do they have to say 'men are women' before we have gaslit an entire generation. I'm f*cking fed up! Arrrgh!
Apols for rant.
Rant away! Wait until you see hat Stella Creasy has just said...
"The differences are to do with whether that is a prerequisite to experience oppression or whether those who become women are also targeted by the patriarchy because they become women."
'Those who become women'.
Dangerous, regressive idiocy.
EVEN MY CAT KNOWS IT'S PLASTIC SURGERY!
I'm betting that all animals who are frightened of males -- as both my dogs are excepting my husband -- are not fooled by a dress, heels, or surgery.
She later denied thinking that people can change sex.
Ooof, she twists & turns like a twisty turny thing.
The things she has been saying on Twitter this last couple of days - she claims in defence of all the tiring 'abuse' she is receiving - have been dreadful.. pretty damn unpleasant towards certain individuals. Misdirection, bullshit and lies....
She should try for a career in politics....
This is partly because anything is now declared 'abuse' or 'abusive and hateful'. It seems to give free rein to actual hate profilerating. Lavery has just tried the same trick. 'Look. Abuse. Lots of it!'
Everyone looks at the given examples: *crickets*
Tempted to do a chart - Stella said x here, now she says the opposite here.
Do it!! I will make a pretty picture out of it!
sorry, what?
Who me, or Creasy?
Creasy's greasy statement.
A woman is that which is victimised. Cheers Stella! Very empowering!
About the cycling: could the wonderful GC men co-ordinate with some women cyclists for the men to all enter one specific women’s event?
Let’s illustrate the cost of self-ID to women’s sports by having one sacrificial event swamped by men claiming to be female.
Even better: could the wonderful GC men co-ordinate with women cyclists to set up another cycling organisation open only to the single sex of biological women? "Women's Cycling"

The cover pic was totally believable till I read taupe. No-one has taupe as a favourite colour.
I've been rumbled!

And you think mine is absurd?! 👀😉
How perfect that an ad for toenail fungus popped up in the middle of the article!
Are you sure it wasn't one of Freddie's poems?
You're so BAAAAAAD!
It's my job!
Apparently!
Nope. Can't do it. What about the music, Freddie? Nothing to say about the artistry, the inspirations or the output, just PERIOD. 'Second' rate? That is generous...
An article headlined 'The LGBT history you probably didn't learn in school' was published by Auntie today (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-57176199).
"In 1885, "gross indecency" between two men was made illegal - and in 1921, a similar law was discussed for women as well. re. Expanding the Rainbow: Exploring the Relationships of Bi+, Polyamorous, Kinky, Ace, Intersex, and Trans People. Gggahhhhh!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to reclaim the rainbow? A wondrous display of heavenly light — beautiful, and worthy of admiration.

Hi Al, could you point me to where that is?
Really! That’s it, exactly. Normalization of fetishists is what it is. I have zero tolerance for narcissists, having survived that dynamic in my family of origin. Wondering now if one can be a fetishist *without* being a narcissist. Hmm. 🤔
I don't think so. I wish I could remember what woman pointed out that fetishes are antithetical to relationship.
