Thank you Hadley Freeman for continuing to maintain your integrity and standing up for truth, reason and common sense in this continuing Orwellian nightmare. (Hadley is also one of my favourite wriers as all her articles have such a spark of vitality).

I'm so grateful to her right now.

Vice Media's report on the EHRC ruling is a perfect example of the corporate marketing value of gender ideology.

Vice reported the EHRC ruling as a story of "whistleblowers" within the EHRC who say the organisation is being influenced by "anti-LGBT" staff. Vice regularly reports gender ideology stories from a supportive point of view. eg: It's "cruel" to deny puberty blockers to "trans" kids etc. They were also supportive of Dr Adrian Harrop regarding his recent disciplinary hearing.

Now, Vice Media were recently revealed to be working for those passionate defenders of LGBT rights... the Saudi Government. They put on a £20 miilion festival in Saudi despite pledging to never do business there after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. They did it under a different name and made everyone sign NDA's but someone blew the whistle.

While Vice Media obviously don't give two shits about LGBTQ+ (and whatever other symbols) rights, given that they're happy to take a ton of money from a country that violently suppresses these rights, they're obviously acutely aware of the corporate marketing advantage of yelling "Tolerance and inclusivity!!" every time they report on gender ideology.

I think about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi often. How he's been betrayed so many times by Western media. An absolute hero whose gruesome death has not been properly acknowledged or honoured and not even close to being vindicated.

I see that in the new (UK) online safety bill - as per Times report today:

Offences have also been added that social media firms will need to act on more quickly to remove, rather than waiting for them to be reported. These includes selling illegal drugs or weapons, sharing of revenge porn, posts advertising people smuggling, committing hate crimes and fraud.

"Committing hate crimes". So, as already happens, in fact? With Twitter etc deciding what "hate crimes" means?

its being known more about GoFundMe

Calvin Robinson

@calvinrobinson

It looks like GoFundMe is going to need to setup a page for themselves soon.

Go woke, go broke. #BoycottGoFundMe

Not only has GoFundMe decided to make a political move - against freedom - they’ve aligned themselves with a tyrannical regime and colluded by seizing assets.

The gall to say they only allow donations to ‘credible’ groups.

Did they freeze the funds of BLM rioters? Of course not

Expand full comment

It is the seizing assets that gets me - utterly shameless. They should not require people to have to proactively request their money back!

Is Virgin giving as bad, I wonder?

I don't know what you were told in the U.K., but most BLM protests were peaceful and any violence is likely due to: 1) cops rioting (no violence in Newark, New Jersey, where the police department was put under federal jurisdiction and partially reformed; 2) agents provocateurs, all groups such as BLM heavily infiltrated by federal agents; and 3) fascist creeps such as antifa. And I'm not that fond of BLM, but its makeup varies from city to city, and not all the groups are flaky.

Expand full comment

Antifa being fascist is right on. Saw a bunch of males and females screaming into the faces of women protesting at the WiSpa (?) and I thought to myself, “These a**holes call themselves ANTIfascists? Cop provocateurs, MOST definitely. The FBI now seems to have more agents stung in their undercover schemes than supposed domestic terrorists. It strikes the philosopher in me as being cannabalistic! I’d rather be naked and live in the jungle, frankly.

I wish gendertrender was available because elderly lesbians were attacked by antifa at the Dyke March in San Francisco several years ago. Women using walkers and canes attacked by blackshirts. And antifa is so horrible they don't even comprehend the meaning of blackshirts. And I loved what happened to the man with the Star Wars store in Washington state. Antifa all het up to go and harass him (by the busload) until they saw the working-class men protecting his store! Hilarious!

Twitter psyops indeed. Yesterday, I too clicked on the JKR trending clickbait, and up popped the murder of an Iranian “transwoman” by her brother. Can these woman-hating tech bros be any more manipulative and transparent? Notice they never ban Ms. Rowling? They need her there, a handy and powerful target for their hateful machinations.

re. Ezra Levant and GoFundMe. Take anything Mr. Levant says critically, with discretion, and a whole cellar of salt. He is a far far far right troublemaker. GoFundMe is giving the money back to the donors. The Ottawa police needed this money withdrawn from this highly aggressive “protest”. As I’ve said before, the majority of law-abiding Canadians want this “protest” shut down. They’ve made their point. Centretown, the neighbourhood adjoining the Parliament buildings, needs a break from the diesel fumes and the honking horns and the harassment of mask-wearers and women. It is taking a severe toll. Some have not slept in a week. There’s a lot of American money and Trump love behind the truckers. It’s disgusting that a gullible faction of Canadians have willfully allowed themselves to become radicalized by the likes of Ezra Levant and Fox news.

Expand full comment

Just want to add that not all the people at the protest are going beyond the pale. The police did have intelligence re. a potentially violent, armed, core group -- so they've been very cautious in their response. But, as I say, there are a lot of decent people there too. Decent, but gullible. However, most Canadians want the weaponization of these trucks to stop. Their point has been more than made.

Can I ask you which media you get your information from on all this please? I would like to look it up. Thanks.

oh my gosh, I read and research widely. Always have done. Like a butterfly, haha, i flit all over the place, so it's nearly impossible to say where I get my info. Living in Canada helps. And someone I'm very close to lives in the neighbourhood directly affected by the trucks and the protesters. Here's a recent statement from a Global News article: Chief Peter Sloly {Ottawa Police Chief} said the demonstrators with the truck convoy are “highly organized, well-funded, extremely committed to resisting all attempts to end the demonstrations safely.

This remains, as it was from the beginning, an increasingly volatile and increasingly dangerous demonstration.” Both Ottawa police and security experts are warning about the high risk to residents planning to protest against the trucker convoy’s ongoing demonstration in the city’s downtown core this weekend." It's very tricky. The government is naturally extremely hesitant to call in the Armed Forces against its own citizens (for the most part, although there is a significant contingent of Americans). I wouldn't want to be the one making the security decisions. I think this kind of protest, with the huge number of trucks, is unprecedented. The more moderate demonstrators have left already, but more were due this weekend. One saving grace -- it's been frigid so far. But the weather is warming up soon.

Also, do you not think that the MSM and certain political groups and politicians use demonising dog whistles as a way of controlling and manipulating the views of the population? For example Robert W. Malone, the vaccinologist who played a major role in inventing the technology behind the mRNA vaccine, who is himself double vaccinated, is labelled 'antivaxxer' the way we are labelled TERFS, because his views do not align with mainstream narrative. Wikipedia was altered to say Robert W. Malone didn't invent the vaccine technology in the same way the history of the Stonewall riots was re-written. It's true isn't it that kids who say they are trans in Canada are taken away from parents who do not go along with the ideology. And how are women's rights doing over there? Do you think Trudeau is the good guy? A man who tried to label the truckers (farmers and other communities who have now joined the demo) as 'racists' and 'misogynists'. A man who as performed black face at least twice.

Expand full comment

Oh ok. The mainstream media are not impartial in such matters though are they, as we know from our dealings with them and the TRAs. The MSM is only now starting to speak up about this after years and years of censorship, and not right across the board. They decide what the public hears about, and with whatever perspective they choose.

In the UK, the BBC consistently reports that there are only a few hundred people turning up to these kind of demos, when it is usually hundreds of thousands and the one held in London in June 2021 had a million participants. The most recent one in January 2022, had thousands of people outside the BBC alone, and someone took a photo from inside the BBC building showing this, yet the BBC still reported it was only attended by 100s, therefore we know this was deliberate misinfomation. We shouldn't be surprised by that because bar the Nolan report, we have seen extremely partisan behaviour in the gender critical debate too. From the BBC and the Guardian in particular. From what my friends tell me, the MSM all around the world behave in the same way. I can tell you that in the UK when people attend these demos, they are extremely peaceful and comprise young and old alike, medics, scientists lawyers, even nuns! The trouble is caused by actors who are paid to pretend to be genuine demonstrators who pretend to clash with the police. This is filmed by the mainstream media for broadcast to the nation. This was exposed at one of the demos in Bristol last year, when a so called 'demonstrator' was filmed laughing and joking with the police. A similar operation was exposed this year in London and shown on twitter. Luckily, people at the demos over here are very aware of these operations, and do not rise to the bait when they try to incite violence amongst the true demonstrators.

What is it that has caused so many truck drivers to start this demonstration in Canada? They must have very strong feelings about something. We don't hear much about other demonstrations in the MSM here, they don't want the public to realise that virtually every other country in the world is holding demos as well. Although those of us on social media can see they are happening right across the globe on a weekly basis. I can see the parallels between this and the media bias/blackout regarding the trans movement. And the dismissal/ridicule/vilification/cancelling of people who disagree. JK Rowling for example, has been labelled transphobic, even though nothing she has ever said is transphobic. And yet the narrative persists, and she was excluded from the Harry Potter renunion because her views don't fit with the agenda. And yet there are people who read what is written about JK Rowling, and they believe it.

I'm not saying there has been no violence at all at the trucker demonstration, and violence should be dealt with accordingly, but in my opinion, that should not negate the right of a largely peaceful group of people to demonstrate. We don't ban football because a small number of the spectators behave like hooligans do we.

I know Graham has sympathy for the Palestinians, at least that's what I surmised from one of his comments. Ezra Levant (I'll give him this -- he has a great name) does not. The State of Israel can do no wrong, ever, in his eyes. In fact, he actively works against anyone who fights for justice for the beleaguered Palestinian people.

I just read four different articles about Go Fund Me seizing donations and all of them reported that GFM froze the donations, required refund applications from donors, and was going to redirect any non refunded funds to charities chosen by the intended beneficiaries (the truckers protest). The outrage was that the refunds weren’t automatic. No report anywhere of people’s donations being redirected to organizations chosen by GFM.

For those of you unaware of what Stella Creasy MP did on Twitter - she made a very strange and very poorly judged hypothetical point somehow trying to link the murder of a young woman by a serving police officer to his transphobia and patriarchal misogyny that trans identifying men feel as women.

As apparently Wayne Couzens is being investigated for assaulting a drag queen. It's always always about the men is it Stella? It's not three trans identifying men being murdered a week though is it?

The murder of Sarah Everard caused nationwide revulsion then the police violence and politicising of the vigil for her drove that disgust home. Barely a day goes by without coverage of another woman's murder. Sabina Nessa, Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman. Yet more since then, more this year, month after month, week after week. Most of whom we will never know much about, even their names or anything about their lives. I feel ashamed that so many women, so many mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are not known by their names and there is no wider revulsion. I spoke to my cousin tonight and asked if she knew about two other horrific murders. It's constant and it's only the first week of February. I can't ignore that.

I am so beyond angry and disgusted that Stella Creasy chose to try to make a point about a man killing a woman and yet also twist that and make it about trans rights and men who identify as women suffering from misogyny under patriarchy. It was a woman he murdered Stella, a woman. They're all women being murdered by men. Male on male or male on female violence.

I have no clue what Stella is up to. I am not vile Stella, and if you ever read this, I am bewildered and very let down by you.

What a Piece of Work she turned out to be.

I have done some work in what are publicly acceptable events or perceptions of risk. Like numbers of deaths. One aspect is that it may be viewed as more outrageous or shocking, and is seen as worse in a news cycle to have a plane or rail crash. That prompts inquiries and we learn from that and have safe systems approaches to critical systems, infrastructure and to prevent mass or any casualties. It's heavily regulated. Then we get over that and get on a plane or train and squash that risk down and don't think about it. We don't believe it will happen to us, and it probably won't.

Yet this? The wearingly regular three women a week murdered? Plane loads. Why is that acceptable? Why aren’t we even allowed to talk about it? Why aren’t we pushing and focusing on stopping that? I’d like to see the stats Stella. And why she appears to believe that men who identify as women have the same exposure to the risk of being murdered as women do? Rates? Levels? Exposure? On what basis is she making these comparisons?

No matter which side of this debate anybody is on, GoFundMe had no right to behave like this. How would WE feel if money was raised for OUR cause and GoFund Me refused to release the funds? It is not up to them to decide what is right or wrong. They are a donation platform and should remain impartial. There is a huge danger in agreeing with the actions of GoFundMe over this, even if you agree with their political stance...because one day you may be on the receiving end of their political bias. Think about it.
