Hands up everyone who read BBC article about recent lack of good sitcoms earlier, and first thought was the hyper cancellation of Graham.

@GMPCityCentre

@gmpolice

please can you take women’s safety concerns seriously?

@AndyBurnhamGM

Can you come along and see for yourself? Can you protect our right to gather and debate? Can you? WILL you?

Will Manchester be extending its traditional hostility to any and every attempt by women to be visible in defence of their rights? Not so long ago women's rights was something all decent people could support but lately men's rights seem to dominate.

Yes, come on Andy Burnham, pop along and see what's what. We voted against having a mayor and were over ruled. Easy enough posting "harassing women is not OK" videos, why not come and see what happens when women want to meet and talk.

Great news for Muslim women, silenced by an awful lot of Muslim men for talking about women's rights and freedoms (I am Muslim so I'm basing this claim on experience not prejudice) and now Muslim women being silenced by non Muslim men and women for talking about women's rights and freedoms. I'm guessing some of those concerned have enthusiastically raged about Islamophobia in the past. A bit like the Guardian, who, since it went all out in advocating gender identity ideology, has more of less ditched Muslims, previously a favourded and useful cause celebre group it enjoyed patronising. A least it no longer has to pretend to give a shit.

Awww, there's no limit to their compassionate thoughtfulness. Recommending plastic gloves for those flinging dog shit at the scary ladies. He didn't have to share that tip, but just did so, out the goodness of his wee heart. The feels. And, just a thought? How gormless do you have to be not to think of this on your own? Not much faith shown in the intelligence of their fellow "activists".

Announcing "I am non-binary" is, to be fair, quicker than saying: "I have absolutely nothing of interest to say about myself but I really, really need the likes on social media." It means exactly the same but it's fewer words.

It gets them all that congratulation and praise, so why not? Who's going to be told they're 'brave' or 'amazing' for just telling the truth about themselves, even on social media? As they're unlikely to be doing anything that actually is brave or amazing, it's going to be the only way they'll get it. Narcissists have to be fed too!

Non binary = devoid of any redeeming qualities or indeed a personality

It's the young middle class strategy of choice - Didn't get such a good degree? Didn't get that media internship you were after? Aren't getting the attention you crave? Then get a primary colour on your hair and 'come out' as non-binary! Make it all about you, talk endlessly about your gender identity and tell everyone what your new pronouns are. Get cross when people forget to use them and complain, this is especially effective in a work environment. Get power and victimhood with one short declaration and use interchangeably for maximum impact.

I'm now even more confused with the description 'trans non binary' people. What the heck does that mean?

Nothing.

I can perhaps explain this in technical terms. Are you sitting comfortably?

Binary = Something that exists in two states. (eg: 1 or 0 in computer code - simplistically put)

Non-binary = Something that does not exists in two state only, therefore, it exists in one state or more than two states - one, or three or more.

Trans = across or through (from the Latin).

Therefore, 'Trans non-binary' means something or someone that exists in a state 'across' the states of 'one' and 'three or more'. The only number that fits that definition is 'two'.

Therefore, trans non-binary = binary.

Thanks you for attending my TED Irritable Talk.

Is non binary a close relative to pansexual? I’m losing focus with all this dross. It used to be so easy when we were all male and female . Strangely enough when I walk down the street it still looks like that. I never have any trouble distinguishing who’s who. Are you keeping all these interesting types in London?

Plenty in Oxford, unfortunately. Although none of them doing anything useful to the rest of society, ie checkout operator, refuse collector, bus driver…..

I'd like to see some analysis by Prof John Curtice (he of voting intentions fame) on where this phenomena is lurking. It does seem to strike certain urbanised places and green places like Brighton. Would be interesting to map that to other factors.

Just came across this suggestion today TSBBL and I think it is a really interesting one. Have you suggested it to Sir John as a worthwhile social study?

Thanks for the nudge, have asked him. I get a bit nervous around my statistical heroes. I assume(d) someone, somewhere, must be as it's a corker and might be a swing enough issue. And we keep being told it's an issue, no it's not an issue, no it's an issue.

Well, our MP claims to be ‘Pansexual’, whatever that means. She is an Illiberal Democrat, the one who was too bizarre even for them when she stood for leader, so they brought back Davey…. It’s very Remainer round here, there are houses with EU flags outside. The council which has no clear majority is now run by a devilish alliance of Libs and Greens, and serves exclusively Vegan food at meetings. They have put up the car park charges for Central Oxford, to discourage people accessing it by car, so that many of the shops which were struggling after lockdown, have had to give up entirely, since there is no sensible way for shoppers from outside the City to access them.

We are going to have a solar farm instead of sheep posturing on the hill ( site of special scientific interest, that doesn’t seem to matter anymore).

It seems these lunacies all cluster together, and are based on not having to work in any meaningful way ( and I say this as someone who studied for two degrees at this University ).

Pasteuring, not posturing , although who knows….

Good luck in your fight against fascism. Er … what fascism would that be in the UK?

Expand full comment

The thing is; fascism in the UK isn't even Judith Butler's maddest belief. Not even close. Why people take that clown-shoe seriously is beyond me.

The behaviour of the police involved in this matter may accurately be described as some things, but ‘fascist’ isn’t one of them. To say so is purely hyperbole.

Graham and friends, have you seen this? It’s quite remarkable. It’s really a worthwhile view. Aside from the obvious signs of a cult in action, I’m quite fascinated by the arms and hand movements they use to emphasize their points:

I am aware of this - But I shall be honest. I can't bear to watch stuff like this anymore.

I am still scarred by Jordan Peterson's encounter with the angry, entitled student mob from several years ago...

Whatever minimal patience and tolerance I used to have for anything like this has long since evaporated.

"Piggies"? Seriously? These people show us who they are time and time again. Children shouldn't have relationships with breasts, they should have them with people! Ugh.

And as for Katy - of course you can do what you wnat, you;re a man and now you're part of the sacred cast you can get away with it too. FYI Katy, women can not do or say whatever they like. Try growing up as one and see how many times men tell you to "smile" 'cause you're not even allowed to have your own facial expression if it isn't pleasing.
