don't you just love Joanna Cherry?

Yes, but can't read the linked article without being a subscriber... ? I'd love to know what she's up to on this.

I'm just appreciating that she’s addressing the erasure of thought and speech freedom by online regulation overreach. I can't read the article either!

A little archive link magic. A bit naughty, but I think the article has an audience beyond Scotland.

Oh excellent words from Joanna, I'm so relieved to learn she is onto this and in fighting mode for the future as regards both Parliament/tabling motions and Twitter, she is the ideal person to be aimng to hold both to account. I'm wondering how to support her.

Thank you so much for your bit of naughty magic. (Clearly a witch.)

Meanwhile users can still post whatever pornography they like without any enforcement. Twitter actually removed the old option to report harmful images. It's not even worth bothering, but in the last few day I reported an account for posting bestiality videos just to see what would happen.

Nothing.

I'm not sure if this would be relevant for Joanna, but the status in law is quite simple. Bestiality is a category of pornography that's illegal to own or distribute. Twitter breaks the law by serving such content to UK users.

That's Twitter's moderation priorities in a nutshell.

Yes tell Joanna hopefully she cares about animal welfare. Pornography is harmful full stop

In the article she appears to describe extreme pornography and twitter ignoring domestic law as two different issues. Twitter *IS* an extreme pornography platform, as well as being a platform for prostitution.

At some point advertisers are going to realise how bad the platform has become, and the panic might even wake Twitter up.

And threats of rape and death to women are no problem!

A particular type of “trans civil rights activist” — recently discovered, and curiously increasing in population. Nocturnal. Intense dislike of scientific scrutiny. Averse to sun light. Highly sensitive to slightest confrontation. Often forced to retreat to dark hidey holes. Intensely aggressive when threatened. Persistent wee buggers.

I’ve blocked said pest. I find the TRA like to block but attack from behind it. So whenever I can I block back 🤣🤣

I truly hope Joanna gathers around her a tough group of women who are not gonna allow these vile misogynists to lie as that twitter woman did last time - it must be male execs that get burnt.

My account is "read only" for a week, so nobody can tell I'm suspended, but I am. I said that the Waterloo District School Board is endorsing putting kids on Lupron, the same drug used to medically castrate adult male pedophiles. That was my crime.

The Times BTL starts getting reports and removals late-afternoon when US is waking up. Coinkydink? I think not.

Jeezums, I hope I get up before noon! But you're right, the creeps who spend all night on Twitter are just waking up, undoubtedly to drink cokes and eat twinkies for breakfast.

I'm only a very amateur user of Twitter, so I'm not sure what locking down my account means. Whilst I'm only at a very small risk of any complaints, it seems like a good idea.

you can adjust your settings so that only people following you can see your tweets. It's annoying as it's not what twitter is about, but it's good for when you're inactive

And I recommend blocking many people - Danielle’ Muscato for example.

Word quickly gets around about who to block for your own safety, and we share as and when. There are some evil, vindictive and nasty people on Twitter who spend an unhealthy amount of time searching peoples' Twitter timelines for pictures of themselves... for example.

Use the block function when it suggested!

Had this - this morning after being on a thread with LisaTMullin and some other

… I only have 9 followers!

They are so scared of the truth.

A new report about @dollyrosejw has been received

Hello,

Twitter is required by German law to provide notice to users who are reported by people from Germany via the Network Enforcement Act reporting flow.

We have received a complaint regarding your account, @dollyrosejw, for the following content:

Profile Content Type: Profile

Profile Content: [profile]

We have investigated the reported content and have found that it is not subject to removal under the Twitter Rules (https://support.twitter.com/articles/18311) or German law.

Sincerely,

Twitter

Note, a lot of Americans have also set their accounts to German so the enforcement notice doesn't indicate origin. Twitter has the most inconsistent moderation policies and was very happy to host the likes of David Duke for a decade, which users could avoid by pretending to be German.

I’m wondering how temporarily locking your account - at night or any other time - can be a security measure against those intent on getting people banned? What am I missing here?

Timezones. The coordinated reporting mostly comes from people in north america who are active while europe is asleep. And their weird basement dwelling UK friends like that tezzy/driscoll person who used to leave replies on here until 5am.
