"Life saving puberty blockers" is a disgraceful lie.

It truly is. Emotional blackmail.

There is a phenomenal below the line discussion in the Sunday Times on the trans issue today. As the Guardian refuses to allow any mention of this it is great to read the growing awareness of this sinister topic.

What's the Times piece called?

It’s the piece on Rosie Duffield on the News page. Good comments from a number of posters especially Josephine March.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Josephine March makes terrific GC contribtions BTL at The Times, persistently hanging in there with GC perspectives and info where needed.

You’re only “trans” if you’re the right kind of “trans”. Trans rights and health advocates my arse. They’re selfish, misogynistic, narcissistic individuals who care for nothing other than their own validation. And the likes of that despicable little pond scum Owen Jones who thinks he knows more about the issues than Kiera does whose actually lived it. I detest him in his entirety! 🤬

Expand full comment

Same here. He is dripping with misogyny & using 'trans rights' to vent his woman-hate.

Expand full comment

Yes. And he has the gaul to write such things like “fanatical” when does things like branding JK Rowling’s new book transphobic without even having read it! Horrible little man.

He'll drown in his own bile one of these days.

We live in hope. 🙏

Expand full comment

I would hope that no one opposes the rights of trans people, but that isn't what this issue is about. It refers to the safeguarding of children and young people. Unfortunately, Jones and others frame a responsible attitude and legitimate concerns as 'anti-trans' in nature, no further scrutiny needed. This perspective is discriminatory, but more importantly it is dishonest, and exposes to what extent Jones and co's interest in this is centred around them not the people on whose behalf they claim to be speaking.

Expand full comment

Well exactly, they don’t care about the safeguarding of children or children with gender issues, they just want to be validated in their rhetoric and dangerous ideology. They’ve dug themselves so deep into their cesspit they have to keep on with their lies and nonsense whatever the consequences and if they feel they have a valid excuse to stick the boot in on women who raise concerns then they love it even more.

Big thank Graham to you et al for this and all the extensive and excellent hardworking hours put towards prising out this massive betrayal of young people.

Thank you, Joan. It took some putting together but I wanted to present all the facts in one place.

It helps greatly Graham because it’s so hard to keep all this stuff in your head. I’m so impressed with the people who have been doing this for ages and can keep going.

Thank you Marionq. I have to admit... the gin helps.

There needs to be a proper judicial inquiry into this madness and a moratorium on the 'treatment' until full evidence is gathered, assessed and understood. It needs to stop now.

I guess the good news, if any, is that doctors can't hide behind the law anymore.

Yes, let's hope the potential for legal action urges caution among the gender peddlers.

There’s a lot of evidence that the drugs used to block puberty are dangerous.

For example, there’s a whole website cataloguing the woes of Lupron victims, some of whom testified before Congress in the U.S. as long ago as the early 2000’s, since it first began being prescribed in the 1980’s. Women were the most frequently prescribed group, as it was prescribed for endometriosis. It was also used for men with advanced prostate cancer, to extend their lives, and also for children with precocious puberty.

Apparently it did not work for either of the former two groups; it didn’t extend men with prostate cancer’s lives, and had a zero percent cure rate for women with endometriosis. It did throw such women into early menopause, and it did result in bone loss and, according to many women, lifelong chronic, crippling pain.

It was deemed so toxic that no one should ever take it for more than twelve months- over twenty years ago.

These Lupron victims have come out in droves to testify to the persistent brain fog, osteopenia and the nightmare of chronic pain at a young age which this drug has caused them.

So why the collective amnesia about how harmful the drug is in itself?

Add onto this that we are *stopping puberty,* a crucial developmental stage in which we develop a whole lot more than simply secondary sex characteristics (an utterly stupid way to look at it; of course our brains, lungs, hearts, etc. all develop during this time as well, which is why taking puberty blockers is known to knock adolescent kids’ IQs down a few points), and what are we doing prescribing healthy kids this poison, which not only could ruin their health and cause them lifelong chronic pain and lethargy, but also could stunt their growth in key developmental areas?

Just how and why have we become so blinkered and stupid about body systems and medicine? Doctors should know very well that puberty entails more than simply the development of secondary sex characteristics. Doctors should also know very well the dangers of drugs like Lupron- which is also used as chemical castration for sexual offenders.

So what the hell is going on? What happened to the Hippocratic Oath?

Great piece, JL. The only thing I’d quibble with is that we *do* know some of the long term effects of Lupron (if not in children when used to block healthy puberty; we do know it also has had deleterious effects in the children for whom it was prescribed to block early puberty). We know it causes bone loss, persistent brain fog, and chronic pain. We know it has caused lifelong disability in some of the women who first took it for endometriosis. Why would it mean anything good for children? Again- what is with the historical amnesia here? It’s as if we discovered thalidomide could do something we wanted it to do, and said “that’s a great idea! Let’s prescribe that!”

It boggles the mind, honestly. It’s seems to be a historical moment of collective insanity.

Most doctors in the U.S. know very little about anything. They seem unaware of basic physiology and only aware of what the last drug salesman they saw told them. They are totally incapable of policing themselves and the profession seems to attract, if not psychopaths, people who are severely emotionally crippled and often not very intelligent. They do so much damage to so many people my mind cannot grapple with it.

This is an awesome compilation of just how wrong the judges are with their decision. The emotional manipulating of Gillick was a masterclass by the Tavis QC.

And the judges ignored all pleas that this was not at all appropriate.

I reckon it will get overturned at Supreme court.

Thank you, Janey. Yes, I think you're quite right. It's ridiculous to apply Gillick to puberty blockers. They're hardly the same as birth control.

Articles like this are appreciated. Thank you JL. I also appreciate those who resigned in protest. That so many adults are encouraging this trend as lifesaving treatment, just blows my mind.

Thank you KS. Oh, I agree with you. The adults cheering this on (especially the AGPs for whom 'trans kids' are just are tool of validation & the putrid creeps, er, I mean commentators, like Owen Jones would rather than admit feminists might be right) are beneath contempt.

Thank you, Katy. It took some putting together!

As you say, JL, the thrust of the original judgement was that this treatment is so experimental and lacking in data and causes so many long-term consequences that no minor, even if otherwise Gillick competent, could properly provide informed consent. The CA threw that out the window by placing oversight solely in the hands of clinicians and in my opinion, abdicated its responsibility to protect the vulnerable.

I would argue that even adults can't provide properly informed consent to this kind of treatment given the lack of solid data available, and that is certainly showing up as detransitioners say that they didn't understand the ramifications of removing their breasts or altering their sex organs. The constant insistence that this treatment is life-saving is, I think, partly for legal liability purposes, because there's a more leeway given to clinicians in providing experimental and unproven treatment if it's to save life, but much more stringent standards for informed consent if treatment is not life-saving.

By dissecting a person into a physical body and a nebulous gendered soul which they claim is what defines a person, ghouls such as Owen, Peter et al seem able to justify the abuse of children’s bodies. Hence the lack of compassion for a young woman who regrets what she has done to her own body. Although in their world as females are so irrelevant, wonder if they’d have been so gleeful if it was a young male in Kiera’s place.

I've been noting the similarity (or lack of) between the ivermectin/Covid debate with Lupron/puberty blocking.

Both are drugs that are very effective for their original purposes and prescribed safely to humans for that purpose.

Ivermectin has been linked to Covid treatment off label by many who see it as effective but has not been properly trialled.

Lupron has been linked to dysphoria treatment of label for pre-teens by many who see it as effective but has not been properly trialled.

Ivermectin use has been mocked by the media as a horse worming tablet, successfully reducing the appetite of the public to use it off label.

Lupron use has not been mocked by the media despite it's use to treat high blood pressure in ferrets or to reduce egg laying in parrots.

Like Ivermectin has been mocked as a horse worming tablet, any mention of Lupron should be followed by a mention of ferrets or parrots.

This article in The Atlantic came out :https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2021/09/pregnant-people-gender-identity/620031/ . Bending over backwards to normalize transgenderism in an effort to subvert rigid gender roles and not exclude anyone: is this a good thing?

The Church of England and many other denominations have been captured by Gender WooWoo in the UK. There is particularly vile video of a TiM Vicar at Brighton Pride explaining that homosexuality does not exist.

I imagine the homophobia at the heart of gender ideology has attractions for some churches, despite the bizarre accusation that “UK TERFs are funded by “the US Evangelical Right” (Jolyon Maugham was at it again this week).

Some have definitely been captured in the USA. I’ve seen videos of “proud moms” introducing their fledgling “trans kids” to cooing congregations.

James Lindsay has been doing his best to save the Southern Baptists from being eaten alive from the inside by Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality so I suspect Gender Ideology might have snuck in there too.

He has done some good videos with Peter Boghossian and some guy from the Southern Baptists. Might be some clues here:
