He's been spending the last couple of years trying to position himself away from the Stonewall/ Mermaids consortium. That would be all fine and dandy if anyone thinks he is no longer a paedo apologist. What he really needs to do is express regret for those historical articles, which anyone can find online. I used to have a lot of time for him in his SJ mode - remember when he famously tried to citizens arrest Robert Mugabe? - until I found out about all this, and that completely tarnished him, and his other activism for me.

"Combat sexual shame which abusers exploit to keep victims silent." Well yes, but there needs to be massive safeguarding in place when discussing these things with children. Talking about sex with kids who aren't mature enough to understand can also serve to normalise it too young. Although hardly surprising that someone who approves of sex with children wouldn't see a problem there. One person's idea of 'shame' might be what I would say is a right to privacy and modesty with their own body. It really just sounds like a Trojan horse for insinuating himself into children's lives regarding sex and consent.

"On safeguarding, we would do better, as always, to listen to women." Well said--more specifically, we need to listen to the mothers of these children.

The Peter Tatchell Foundation raises cash to fund the legal costs of obsessive attempts by Peter Tatchell to allow Jeremy Bamber his right to a 'fair trial'. A narcissistic psychopath who shot his sister and her 6 year old twins Nicholas and Daniel in cold blood for his inheritance, their father Colin Caffell gives a chilling insight into his gradual realisation that Jeremy had murdered his children. Peter Tatchell claims Bamber has been persecuted because of his homosexuality and deserves justice.

Mothers children are OUR children and anyone who touches or interferes with either us or fails to support us, our rights or our children are both marked and damned men and women. #womensworld

I can't stand these hyper misogynistic tribes that rape children. The girls are often children when married. The boys have already been raped by older men. If you criticize them you are called a racist, Eurocentric bigot.

thankfully the Sambia seem to have modernized somewhat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambia_people#Modernization I am so interested in what makes cultures operate like this...one clue is the AUS gov't stopping the constant warfare which probably lessened the psychopathy quotient of social leaders. It reminds me of ancient Sparta...I don't know why it is that highly militaristic/patriarchal cultures have such a high incidence of child rape and use of male children as sexual surrogates in particular.

just reading a bit about Papua New Guinea which is apparently the worst place on earth for women... all it takes to start a patriarchal culture is domestic violence, polygamy and geographic isolation which is apparently the case there too...that is one disturbing place to read about but given its location I'm sure it has been repopulated over and over by seafaring folks, no one really even knows where the Sambia even came from...my guess is there's a bit of inbreeding due to polygamy and incest which would show up in genetic analysis too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Papua_New_Guinea#Sexual_violence

This is the sort of stuff H.R. Hayes wrote about in his book The Dangerous Sex. He was interested in exploring the roots of the hatred men have for women and being an anthropologist he wrote about many damaging rituals. Just because people aren't "civilized" does not mean they live in harmony and sustainability.
