One of the most delightful aspects of being part of the GC movement in the UK is how much we annoy men like Michael Ann (“PhD. Everyday Human-AI Collaboration, Folk Theories, Queer/Trans HCI. Neurodivergent, trans woman, lesbian“) DeVito here.
Is it really harassment to say “Sorry, mate, you’re not a lesbian” to someone who is quite clearly trolling? I realise Helen Lewis, Jesse Singal, Katie Herzog, etc think it terribly bad manners, but just because careerists in the press don’t give a damn about the coercion of young lesbians doesn’t mean the rest of us have to go along with the situation.
As Owen Jones is so fond of saying (but only about women), look at the state of this.
Thank God for Euan contextualising it. I’m not sure I could take the source material on full blast without jumping out the window at some point. (And if you think this bloke is an outlier, meet many, many more ‘outliers’.)
Look, mate, I know everyone over there went a bit mad when Trump got into power, but you’re not a woman. In fact, it’s really fucking insulting and sexist for you to suggest otherwise.
Women over here are not trying to be rude. It’s just that they would just look a bit weak if they let chancers like yourself get away with so blatantly taking the piss. This is the birthplace of Magdalen Berns, man! There are standards!
Anyway, they’re not having it. Get over it.
We on this side of the 'pond' are annoying you?
Sorry, mate.
All through history men have had different lengths of hair. They curled, it, they dressed it, they wore jewels on their heads (crowns).
They were all still men.
Just like the men through history who wore garments called "gowns" - which is translated now as a "dress". Or wore heels. Or wore bright colours, or embroidered garments. They wore jewellery and earrings. They even corsets they wore.
They were all still men.
There were men who, yes, were skilled in the art of war and fighting. They also danced elegantly, sang, played musical instruments, wrote poetry, were well read, curious, intellectual, tried to manage their maleness in various ways such as "chivalric" ideals (yes ok, not perfectly equality between sexes but there WERE numerous attempts to control/channel male aggression).
They were ALL still men.
