Haha, woman hating Aidan tweeted about his mention here last night. Supposedly he was informed about, as if he isn't checking here himself seeing as nearly every day this week his tweets have referenced posts here or things mentioned in the podcasts.

Lisa Nandy goes on to clarify what she meant by that - that people on the left fall into antisemitism thinking they're punching up but are actually punching down.

Pretty clumsily worded, and I'm not sure my recounting is much better.

In other news I saw that nightmare sex table early on during the day, and I've felt endlessly unwell since.

Just in case anyone is unsure, prostitution definitely isn't work. And that includes filmed prostitution. On that, here's a link to a petition to shut down the super predator trafficking site Porn Hub here: https://www.traffickinghubpetition.com/ - with over two million signatures so far. Explanation at the bottom of this comment.

Imagine if prostitution WAS work, and Centrelink (the Australian department in charge of welfare) were able to force unemployed people to apply for 20 prostitution jobs every fortnight so they could get their pittance. That's how Job Plans work in Aus, you have to apply for any work you might reasonably have a chance of getting. If you couldn't find anything else you would have no choice but to apply to be a prostitute. IF it was work, which of course it's not.

Nobody would be exempt. Disabled people, old people, young people, there's a fetish to suit everyone, so if it actually was work every unemployed person, whatever their age or ability, would be forced to upload a picture of their arse to Seek.com.

Luckily, everyone knows - especially anyone who is championing it - that it's patriarchal capitalist degradation and exploitation of children, women and sometimes men, at its basest form. And of course it's not supplying a demand. It's manufacturing one.

And of course, literally nobody at all needs sex or is entitled to it.

So here are some articles explaining why prostitution isn’t work. Don't comment at me if you haven't read them. Every possible excuse you could try to use is covered. So if you are going to try to make an argument for the violent degradation of women and children, don't use ad homs or other logical fallacies. Or prepare to be called out for not applying critical analysis or making a valid argument.

Anyway, if you read these articles and are still in favour of the violent sex trade, we really have nothing to say to one another.

PS, if you do decide to try to champion the violent sex trade of prostitution aimed mostly at children and women, no, you're not a happy hooker who simply lurves having a grunting sweating stranger empty his secretions into her orifices so she can pay her electric bill. Nor are you friends with one.

If you read these articles and feel the need to try to defend the act of prostituting women, or pretend you don't understand that my comment in no way attacks prostituted women but instead speaks the truth about the violent sex industry, I will know exactly what you are.

And this is the explanation on the Predator Hub petition site:

"In the last few months, there have been several shocking cases of sex trafficking and child rape films that were hosted on Pornhub. A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for a year was finally found after her mother was tipped off that her daughter was being featured in videos on the site - 58 such videos of her rape and sexual abuse were discovered on Pornhub.

Her trafficker, who was seen in the videos raping the child, was identified using surveillance footage of him at a 7-Eleven where he was spotted with his victim. He is now facing a felony charge.

Also in recent news was the case of 22 women who were deceived and coerced by Michael Pratt, owner of GirlsDoPorn, into performing sex acts on film that were subsequently uploaded to Pornhub. These women sued GirlsDoPorn and won a $12.7 million lawsuit against the company. According to a federal indictment, Pratt and his co-conspirators produced filmed child rape and sexual abuse content and trafficked a minor. Pratt reportedly fled the United States for New Zealand and is currently wanted on a federal warrant.

But there are other individuals who should also be wanted by law enforcement - CEO Feras Antoon and COO David Tassillo of Mindgeek, the company that owns Pornhub.

You see, Pornhub is complicit in the trafficking of these women and minors and probably thousands more like them.

Pornhub is generating millions in advertising and membership revenue with 42 billion visits and 6 million videos uploaded per year. Yet it has no system in place to verify reliably the age or consent of those featured in the pornographic content it hosts and profits from.

In fact, all that is needed to upload pornography onto Pornhub is an email address. No government-issued ID is required, not even to become "verified" with its trusty blue checkmark that makes everything seem a-OK.

I know this, because I tried it.

It took me under 10 minutes to create a user account and upload blank test content to the site, which went live instantly. I could have then gone on to become Pornhub-verified, and all I would need to do is send a photo of myself holding a paper with my username. That's it.

It is no surprise that Pornhub admitted to verifying the trafficked 15-year-old girl who was sexually abused in 58 videos on its site. The official Twitter account for Pornhub wrote in response to the breaking story that the 15-year-old girl had been a verified member. After quickly realizing it had just admitted to assisting in her being trafficked, the account deleted the tweets, but the evidence of the admission was cached and still exists.

One of the most-searched terms on Pornhub is "teen" pornography, in fact it has been a top ten search term on the site for six consecutive years. The search will result in videos that are constantly being added faster than any individual could watch them. Many feature girls who look 13 years old at best - girls with braces, pigtails, flat chests, no makeup, extremely young faces, holding teddy bears and licking lollipops, all while being aggressively penetrated. A quick search for the word "teen" turns up titles such as "Young Girl Tricked," "Innocent Brace Faced Tiny Teen F - -ed," "Tiny Petite Thai Teen," "Teen Little Girl First Time," on and on ad infinitum.

Pornhub has no reliable system in place to verify that those in the videos it hosts are not trafficked children being raped on film in order to line the pockets of its executives.

What all of this means is that at this very moment, there could be hundreds, if not thousands, of videos of underage sex trafficking victims on Pornhub. We already have evidence, and it is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's time to shut down super-predator site Pornhub and hold the executives behind it accountable.|"

Thanks for sharing! Will try to have a read of some of these when I get the chance. I had a friend who was a prostitute and we used to have a lot of discussions about it. It worked for her but I don’t think she would ever advocate for it. But I feel she got herself stuck in to it and kind of ruined her future job prospects the longer she stayed doing it. But she always said to me that it was a choice between working in somewhere like Tesco or doing sex and she felt that both were equally humiliating but the sex gave her more money. Of course the reality is not like that for the many being exploited by it.

I think that many women who work in that industry fool themselves into believing that menial labour such as working as a supermarket shelf stacker is "just as demeaning" as prostitution to avoid the worst of the cognitive dissonance they experience.

And like I said, please just don't comment at all if you haven't at least skimmed the articles. I've already educated myself on the subject. Please do the same before replying.

BTW a side-note about Jeffrey Marsh and those like him - do you think he seriously believes that the fact he insists that he's somehow magically transcended the constraints of biological reality to which the rest of us normies are shackled makes him "confusing" to us?! It's just that I thought "pretentious" and "attention-seeking" were both terms which are far closer to the mark...

Ordinary and narcissistic also come to mind. If he actually believes his own spiel then delusional too.

It's utterly disgusting, isn't it? "Sex work is work" indeed! Their use of thought-stopping cliche on that has ME completely convinced... 🙄🙄🙄

Expand full comment

Yeah, that is vile. I used to work as a stripper years ago. Whilst not quite the same as having to actually have sex or whatever, I can tell you there is nothing empowering or uplifting about it. I’m not going to lie; the money was great. But I did it because I felt I had to - like most of the women there. But you get the occasional ‘career’ stripper and they seem to be the ones making the most noise and advocating for it, and sex work in general - even though many of them would never consider having sex for money. I have friends from that time constantly promoting sex work and they have long since left that behind. Like why would you actively promote it?! Seems a weird thing to hinge your whole purpose in life on and that’s what I sadly see some of my friends doing. Don’t get me wrong though, I support women in these industries being protected and not treated bad because of their work decisions. There is a big stigma that means these women are seen as legitimate targets for abuse. Funny thing I notice is that all my friends who support sex work and actively promote it etc are the same ones banging on about gender bollocks. Very interesting connection.

Expand full comment

Yeah, it's a connection that I found intriguing before I was completely marinated in this PoMo stuff at uni. Fortunately, it was contact with otherwise fairly intelligent people who swallow the genderist stuff whole without question which caused me to think it through - until I realized I was infuriated by so much of it.

You're right about those who advocate for the notion that sex work is no different from any other menial labour generally being those who have only had contact with jobs on it's periphery. Pretty frustrating, huh?

Of course women who work in these industries should enjoy far better legal protections than is currently the case, but I can't see this happening if advice is only taken from those making a comparatively large profit from it rather than the women who are really at the coal face, as it were. When I view these things from a dispassionate POV, I can't help but feel that the Nordic Model is probably the most equitable. I can't see those with very successful OnlyFans accounts etc. going for that kind of legislative change, though.
