I was at Filia21 . Before going I was quite scared of the threatened protest. When I saw the pathetic gaggle outside, I thought several looked mentally unwell and vulnerable. The slogans, chalked obscenities and chants were unpleasant but my overall take away was of a bunch who were deluded and manipulated.
I agree. The protesters were “led,” for want of a better word, by a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. Their chalked mottoes were childish and petulant. It’s hard to believe that any serious politicians or philosophers take them seriously.
"Steph", of Steph's place was also there. He is the one who got the Amnesty posters, which Amnesty later disavowed when they realised it was a bad look for them. Steph regularly turns up on Suzanne's Moore's substack, pretending to be a nice human being.
Same at the protest at the WPUK meeting about women in prisons. One revolting rude man dressed in rather grubby looking drag, who dissed what we real women were wearing, and made a racist remark. Two rather addled-looking others.
Thank you Literal Violet and hear hear. I felt quite panicked about what was happening in Pompey but it's still my home despite living away. Characters like this mustn't be allowed to slide off into another role without anyone doing proper scrutiny. I was dumbfounded at the incautious and ignorant things she came out with, then like clockwork came out with more and more. She was like a Dickens character.
Very interesting article. This would fit well in Private Eye's Rotten Boroughs, if PE could be arsed to do more than just pay lip service to speaking about trans 'rights' activists

Was “Steph” on R4 ‘Antisocial’ on Friday 24/06?

How many women does it take to unscrew a rotten Councillor?
Wowee long but scintillating read - goodness me.
