What utter disrespect and disregard these male ‘allies’, and men-pretending-to-be women, and their foolish handmaidens are showing toward their mothers. Those same mothers, in whose wombs they grew, and out of whose bodies they were born. In great pain. Shame. Shame. Shame.

My God, yes, the pain!

They need to deny reality but unfortunately the truth is not mutable nor are facts no matter whether they can face it or not or what bizarre propositions they try to make others believe. They have no experience of womanhood, no respect for same and are entirely egocentric. It’s a delusion and mental health issue. Because they don’t do the work of birthing and nurturing it simply doesn’t exist. This is the result of long term Oppression of women and our reality. They’re fantasists who’ve let their basest behaviour and perversions rule them and tantrum and manipulate when others won’t coddle them because they’ve , as usual with men, gone too far and are the hitting boundaries of reality and decency. I suppose it’s just one of many spheres this is occurring finally where bourgeoise elite bs and fetishs go to far against the people they exploit propagandise and abuse. Nutters who truly believe their own bs.

Spoke to a young relative about Brighton. They had read the smoke bomb was thrown by our side. Friends apparently believe the same. Asked what I thought Posie was doing. Very unaware of facts and seemed shattered by the facts.

Felt like a no Father Christmas/ no tooth fairy conversation re “born in wrong body” and the gay rights movement. The harm this corruption and dishonesty have done to our young people is massive.

Posie- thank you for your clarity of thinking and strategy. Next- how can we help young people?

Sadly the TRAs do nothing but lie and slur. There’s no honesty. Women photographing and recording the incidents that happened can show which side was vicious, noisy, threatening, abusive and arrested! We also have to remember it was an event in a public place so members of the public did join in, but the black pampers were obviously on their side, with their “queer” pink n black flags causing disruption and intimidation at the v least.

The middle class students cosplaying antifascist know they are safe from harm by targeting this event. I have seen antifash years ago in running street battles with the NF when the bastards marched in my city. BOTH sides were violent, throwing punches and bottles.. They can act out their poundland ninja, freedom warrior fantasy without any fear of retaliation because they are targeting of non violent women who just want to speak What happened lads?

Keep smoking them out Posie x

Just gangs who want a rumble, only I suspect the antifa gangs are being funded by certain billionaires and are being blessed by members of government. I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true of the NF gang.

"One of the funniest things was seeing someone with the sign ‘TRANS PEOPLE JUST WANT TO EXIST IN PEACE” while shouting over women trying to speak."

Indeed. But rather more disturbing was that they were stood next to a sign saying "Combat TERF hate" with a picture of a "Community defence" petrol bomb. The aggression is one-sided.

Thanks everyone for all the "Likes" - warms the cockles of me heart, it does ... 😉🙂

But ran across a quote of Hannah Arendt the other day which seems a rather "pointed" criticism of all the transloonie nutcases and their rather odious ilk:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (i.e., the reality of experience) and the distinction between true and false (i.e., the standards of thought) no longer exist.”

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8110811-the-ideal-subject-of-totalitarian-rule-is-not-the-convinced

That is basically what those nutcases are trying mightily to do: completely obviate, discard, and obliterate any and all "distinctions between true and false". Not on my watch.

It's not racist to stand up for Palestinians. Stretching it a bit there, Graham.

Throwing glitter into dreads is racist AF.

While I would concur that it's unfair to ascribe a racist motive without more definitive proof or context, describing committing an act of public vandalism in the UK as "standing up for Palestinians" is a bit of a stretch too.

He's certainly not the kind of supporter most decent Palestinians would want.

Expand full comment

Still not proof of antisemitism. Antisemitism has been dishonestly weaponised enough by unscrupulous politicians and other smearers in recent years. Don't jump on the sordid bandwagon..

Expand full comment

This doesn't have to be about looking for 'proof'. Definitive evidence of support for a particular ideology or prejudice will usually emerge. It's more important to pay attention to what people say and how they behave. Think about their motives and what that might imply. Of course there are people who claim to support the Palestinian people, whilst not actually caring about their circumstances and well-being, etc. Their faux support is concealment for antisemitism. They're aware it's not going to be looked into too deeply. After all, they're supporting a group of people, some of whom are discriminated against and oppressed. But in this instance, they're a useful adjunct that enables them to express supposedly legitimate grievance against another group of people, one they don't like.

From this specific perspective, it's similar to men claiming to support trans rights, particularly the rights of transgender women. A minority might believe this is what they're doing, regardless of how skewed their understanding of what's happening is. They're informed and influenced by the 'war against trans rights' narrative. But most of these men simply don't like women. It's why they're out in force against the 'bigots'. Enjoying opportunity, freedom, support and approval. And they retain it, regardless of how threatening and abusive they are. Pointing to a much wider misogyny.

Expand full comment

"Their faux support is concealment for antisemitism". This, with regards to "Storm Rayner", is, at best, conjecture. It may be true for some activists, for others not. The label "antisemite" should be reserved for people we know are antisemitic, otherwise we are behaving little better than those for whom "transphobe" is the insult of choice for anyone they despise.

Automatically conflating justified criticism of Israel's behaviour with antisemitism is very effective narrative manipulation. That's why the state of Israel and its defenders do it.

No, but it's the cause du jour for some really vile people or just those simpering along who know nothing about the region, nothing about the people and feast on virtue-signalling outrage all day, every day. It spreads hatred and ignorance, whilst screeching about tolerance and inclusivity. Some people really love a cause, any cause and want a rammy. Look at the incidents caused in Leicester, spread by social media and people travelling to cause a stink. I know Palestinians who refuse to say where they are from because of this and it's genuinely dangerous.

I almost avoid those with flags on their profiles as it often means they know less than anyone else but pretend the reverse, it's really hard to tell online and it's so easy to whip things up when trying to 'be good' and 'on the right side of history'.

Expand full comment

Defending the racist behaviour of the apartheid state of Israel with dishonest antisemitism accusations and smears is also a popular cause de jour, amongst a different, no less vile and often explicitly racist demographic.

Expand full comment

You're definitely going off the map there - the ethnic demographic of Israel as compared to the Palestinian territories makes pretty clear that it's not racist or an apartheid state. I've not heard a convincing argument otherwise and far wiser people than us on both sides have been making the case for several decades now.

The "weaponising antisemitism" claim handwaves away the serious concerns that many Jews had at the last General Election about the Labour Party. It's a bit absurd to suggest that Jews didn't do at least some degree of research before deciding whether or not Corbyn was, as Dan Hodges put it, an "enabler for antisemites". Some Rabbis gave up their Labour Party membership (https://www.thejc.com/news/uk/rabbis-letter-labour-antisemitism-1.467264) while other Rabbis campaigned on behalf of the party (https://www.jewishnews.co.uk/liberal-judaisms-rabbi-danny-rich-stands-by-labour-for-now/). The old adage about "two Jews, three opinions" applies here.

What is true, is that LGB (and even T) rights in Israel are better than anywhere else in the Middle East - so much so that Israel is usually the first asylum port of call for gay Palestinians. Standing up for the rights of a state that likes to throw its gays off the top of buildings while criticising a tolerant liberal democracy full of Jews does seem incongruous, to say the least.

I do not want to get into discussions about Israel and Palestine with people who get their "news" from the BBC, PBS, the Guardian, etc. I want people to either read Miko Peled's book -- he was a colonel in the IDF, his father a general -- or listen to one of the videos on youtube. He can hardly be accused of antisemitism, but is a truth-teller which I believe many people on this substack think they are as well.

That's how media rhetoric works. They presuppose their value judgements as "objective matters" that don't need to be argued.

Thus e.g. instead of asking, "Is J K Rowling transphobic? And is there such a thing as being transphobic anyway?", they ask, "What are we going to do about Rowling's transphobia?"

Also note the implied community of "Graham Norton defends..." Yes good old Graham is one of the "responsible folk" or was until he invited in that "monster" Rowling!

Thanks for these windows into the Brighton event. Its a relief to see the thin crowd of TRAs, loud though they were. Gender dysphoria is a maladaptive response to trauma, abuse and sexism. We are born with one body only. What a violent religion the "sexologists" have promoted!
