I keep reading stuff like this and still thinking surely I'm going to wake up at some point and find it isn't really happening. I cannot conceive of how it is that our leaders, who are supposed to be better qualified and generally know more about important things than plebs like me, are unable to realise what a catastrophe they are not only allowing but actively encouraging to happen.
Even if this movement wasn't deeply misogynistic, hugely harmful and disrespectful to all women, the spectre of whole generations of children with minds messed up by bogus ideology and bodies maimed by a combination of improperly researched medicines and completely unnecessary, often irreversible surgery is a nightmare I can't even begin to get my head around.
They will be drugged up, mutilated, sterile and likely unable to experience the pleasure of a lover's touch, and that's before all the other damage and side effects. How can any 'civilised' society possibly let this happen?
Reading this letter made me feel physically ill. Good. Because the day it doesn't, I might as well give up on calling myself a human.
This issue gives me the absolute RAGE! I can't tell you how fucking hard organisations like La Leche make life for true, real, biological mothers - the pressure and guilt on you to exclusively breastfeed (rather than combination feed with formula), the length you should do this for, the ways you must sacrifice your body (every painkiller or antibiotic must be carefully considered and justified, avoided where possible, what you eat, drink, how you live your life is all determined in terms of your role to nourish your baby). Don't use nipple guards, don't use nipple cream, do pump, don't pump, eat this, drink this, demand feed, co-sleep, be ever ready to nurse and constantly available for your baby. We bear this pain and stress and pressure and sacrifice because we want the best for the baby we have grown inside us for 40 weeks.
Then some twisted TIM with a BFing fetish comes along and its all HELL YEAH PUMP WHATEVER INTO YOUR BODIES AND WHATEVER HORMONE LACED WATERY GRUEL YOU MANAGE TO SQUEEZE OUT IS ENOUGH TO NOURISH A CHILD!
There was a great thread on Mumsnet about this here (a La Leche group leader had contacted them about this exact issue - depressingly she was utterly fobbed off in a handwaving gesture Aaron Rabinowitz would be proud of.)
Do enjoy the moment when some TRA imbecile tries to suggest that men who have taken cross sex hormones can develop the appropriate tissue and milk supply to adequately breastfeed a child, they have their arse handed to them.

I heard that the EU -- which I'm aware the UK is no longer part of -- removed children from homes where the parents were giving them nut "milks" instead of actual milk. So what about the toxic brew these men are putting in the mouths of babies?

Not to mention the horror of turning up as a sleep-starved desperate new mum to a BFing workshop to find some fetishising male there getting off on the whole experience. And women not feeling like they can complain because TRANSPHOBIC! :(((((
Agree 100%. I did breastfeed my child and was lucky that it was relatively easy for me (apart from the lack of sleep!), but some of the advice and pushing from LL and the like just seemed counter-productive and out to shame mothers that couldn't comply with impossible standards. And the double standards here is absolutely infuriating. They're so desperate to bend over backwards to accomodate these male fetishists they're happy for them to put dribbles (and it will only ever be dribbles, nowhere near what a baby needs) of some weird drug-laced fluid in an actual infant's mouth. I remember my GP having to look up a suitable antibiotic that was "safe" for breastfeeding when I had actual Lyme Disease - and by then he was a toddler who had hardly any milk anymore anyway!
Truly Abhorrent. How can ANY government sanction the mistreatment of helpless babies by experimenting on them in this way ,and all to satisfy the fetishes of some men ! It's barely a few years since health professionals were actively encouraging and supporting breast feeding but this obscene ,untested practice ,which could poison rather than nourish tiny babies ,might put an end to breastfeeding altogether in future ,especially with so many young girls being urged to have their breasts amputated by medical professionals who should know better !! Shame on them all 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Apparently many of the women involved with LL like to order other women about, and that seems to fit perfectly with bending over backwards for men.
