So sorry Graham. The man cares little about other people. He's drunk on his own virtue

He's drunk on feigning virtue. Trying to hide his rancidness.

… “when Irish women should have been celebrating their greatest victory over the Catholic Church”, Amnesty Ireland dares to use the term “pregnant people” in the public announcement of the win? Women cannot have anything of their own, not one little thing, especially not a victory of any sort. Vatican forbid! Well, this victory over the dominating Temple of Patriarchy (I too grew up under its repressive dome) is still splendid. Hard won. Courageous. Painful. Utterly splendid.

A conflation of two religions, Catholic and "Trans". Can't keep them straight.

Not much respecting or protecting the rights of women in that tweet! How many men or enbys needed abortions before the repeal of 8th? I won’t forgive them for signing that letter, ever.

Noah Halpin had a health check up where the consultant noted Noah's uterus. He tweets "I constantly train healthcare workers not to ask questions or note information about a patient’s trans identity unless it is directly relevant to their care". Why is this person training healthcare workers? Why are the health care workers listening? Why is it wrong to note a uterus when a person has a uterus? How does it make sense for trans identity to be affirmed and celebrated while the reality of the transition to be a guarded secret? And finally, by tweeting this issue, how is Noah not commiting the same supposed faux pas as the consultant, only on a way larger scale on social media?

I find O'Gorman genuinely puzzling. He blocked me ages ago. I can't figure out why he hates women. Is it because his friends are male separatists? I've gathered he was abused as a child by priests. Why focus his anger on women? Anyone here have thoughts on this?

I don't know. All sorts of men can be misogynists. Gay men included; men who have suffered. And so many you might make assumptions about turn out not to be misogynists.

Amnesty takes buckets of money from George Soros and follows his agenda. Soros is a grotesque misogynist of the vomit-worthy stripe.

It’s easy to imagine a scenario of the devout mother believing priests over their child and the scars that would leave. Or having a homophobic mother. But anyone in the position he is in has a duty to challenge internalised misogyny where ever it came from. It is extraordinary that someone working for Amnesty would not have learnt of the vulnerability of women as a sex class. While not strictly under their remit, anyone working to support vulnerable people around the world will know about female infanticide, FGM and rape used as a weapon of war, let alone exclusion from education etc etc. How does he justify parrotting TWAW? Does he believe people can identify into another race? It’s no more illogical.

This is an organization that last I knew supported decriminalizing pimping and brothels.

I will never understand why pregnant women awaiting a termination are forced to sit with heavily pregnant women. When I was having IVF treatment at the Rotunda I had to walk past smoking pregnant women in labour (how I wanted to shake them) and sit in a room at 7am to have my daily bloods taken, facing a Baby Wall - a fucking wall of gurgling babies from successful IVF. I had three failed ivfs (and three miscarriages) so I never found having to be treated for infertility over five years at a fucking maternity hospital to be particularly helpful. It's just part and parcel of how our medical needs and psychological trauma is treated.

I'm so sorry. The NHS usually places pregannt mothers, IVF and women seeking abortion together as it's all under the same lable for them. Not great for any of the women involved psychologically though.

How to add further trauma to what's already traumatic. And the shame. It's almost a recent revelation that they've realised women aren't men. We've waited a very long time to have women's health strategies and focus at the same time we're fighting to keep our words for ourselves. I keep hearing many talking about how it was the male led 'medicalisation' and 'professionalisation' that many of our key services followed and led us here.

This also applies to end-of-life care and that many are now trying to bring that control and power back to us, the users of the services, to redress that 'done to' aspect. To know how to talk about death, pain and our health. Our bodies, our lives, our communities. Cervical screening and HRT communication. Making these key elements of medical training, not brief optional 'extras' or 'specialisations'. How language and words used often seem to separate, confuse and bamboozle us from our own bodies and knowledge of our own symptoms or how we feel.

The latest gender woo just seems the old style disempowering misogyny on acid so it's not such a surprise that it found a home deep within the NHS. Religion/Medicine/Psychiatry and Institutions keen to diminish and disempower as that's their job so shh. There are doctors and nurses speaking about this and culture in the NHS. It doesn't serve women or men well.

This happened to two friends; one is having fertility treatment and had the same experience as you. The other was there for a potential gynaecological cancer and the nurse wrongly assumed she was there for an antenatal appointment and guided her to a waiting area full of pregnant women. If it had been cancer, she would have been rendered infertile so she found the experience upsetting (luckily it was not cancer). It's as if the hospital just thinks 'uterus stuff, put 'em all in together', not realising some women can be traumatised.

Expand full comment

It's exactly that - "uterus stuff". We shouldn't be surprised that gender ideology reduces us to a body part or process. Society and the health service have been doing it for decades, probably longer. The phrase "womens [health] problems was always dismissive, and now of course those very same things are now being co-opted by gender ideology to validate fetishistic AGP men.

I agree. And I think its removal goes far beyond an erasure of two people whose experience was useful to Amnesty at the time but whose contribution it seems now is a little.. awkward. This video reads as a love letter to a longed-for baby that they could never know or hold and an elegy on their loss and the awful experience of it all, while acknowledging that, had this happened in Ireland, the experience would have been even worse. That the video could be removed now because of current dogma, tribalism, political expediency, and the rest of it goes beyond erasure. It turns into inhumanity and spite. Amnesty Ireland, a vehicle for inhumanity and spite. Who could have ever imagined this cruelty only a few years ago?
