I have responded, as a parent but also as a teacher of over 25 yrs experience, including having been responsible for Child Protection in a large secondary school, and extensive experience of teaching SEND students. I copied and pasted, then tweaked and wrote around some of the material on this post, primarily taking aim at 1. The lack of ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER around the long term impact of PSH, 2. The complete lack of any meaningful definition of what might constitute an "exception"; how can you define an "exception" if the rule itself is non-sensical? 3. The ideological nature of the entire concept of being "born in the wrong body" and its common co-morbidity with ASD spectrum and other mental health needs. There is no other area of medicine in which this woolly, untried and untested, wholly ideological set of parameters would be thought about for more than one second before being laughed out of the room. So anyway, I've added my voice to the consultation and am very,, very grateful for the steer. Thank you SO much.

Exactly, if we can’t trust the NHS to follow evidence based best practice, then who can we trust?

This is utterly horrifying and upsetting. How can this be happening in the face of all the evidence? How are so many people being brainwashed and captured?

Thanks for a brilliant article which should inspire us all to complete the consultation.

There is no method for determining which child is engaging in attention-seeking behavior, which child expresses the black-and-white thinking of autism and which child is actually being sexually molested and therefore develops a coping fantasy of an opposite sex ideation. We know from detransitioners that all of the above occur. The indoctrination and brainwashing are very clear, and spokesmen like Peter Taitchell will continue to publish articles about grown men having sex with underage boys as if that's normal, as well as "the positives of pornography" (2 articles on his personal website) without any public critique. When the detransitioners' malpractice lawsuits hit the news, and God willing, this will come soon, the public will be better informed.

It’s beyond comprehension that Tatchell is constantly wheeled out for interviews on tv. You’d think that it would give people a clue as to the calibre of gender ideologues.

The NHS needs to rid itself of cultists, they are causing untold harm to patients, to the NHS itself with this rubbish, the 0.01% of the population are dictating to the 99.99% of the rest of us. Its absolutely crazy. These nutjobs must be sacked, the NHS has no business pandering to niche fantasists. It will be cheaper in the long run and the short term to pay two months salary and rid yourselves of ideologues that are destroying the NHS, sack them now

I'll be filling in the form and I hope a lot of people do. That at least is one way of reminding the cult that most people are onto them. But Jesus H that line: "... around 8000 children currently on waiting lists may be eligible, including 6000 aged under 16."

That's a potential 8000 horror stories waiting to unfold.

It doesn't sound as though the Cass Review has had any effect.

Expand full comment

It does. Medicalised abuse is being advocated, puerbty blockers, cross sex hormones, surgery and treatment for a multiplicity of problems that develop, physiologically or psychologically. A health service that is unable to provide satisfactory treatment to millions of its patients, is prepared to create more. Even those unbothered by what is being proposed, would surely oppose such gross misuse of public money. The NHS really does need to rid itself of the assortment of misogynists, sexual fetishists, narcissistic, obsessive activists and whoever the fuck else is responsible for this disgrace.

No, it doesn't. This is very disappointing and extremely troubling. Where is the Department of Health on all this I wonder?

In a few years’ time lawyers will be advertising no win/no fee services against trans facilitators for those whose mental and physical health have been damaged by this crap.

Expand full comment

I read in The Times today that one of the new gender clinics will be in the Great Ormond St Children's Hospital and that the CEO of its charitable fund-raising arm has signed up to the 'We Stand with Trans' campaign, run by a US outfit called 'Charity So Straight'. This makes me wonder if the NHS is seeking (or already has) US investment in the proposed gender clinic, a condition of which might be the adoption of all the nonsense set out in the consultation document. Does anyone know how we can find out?

That’s frightening. Send the info to GB News and ask if they can do a freedom of information request. They’ve been really good on gender ideology, particularly Andrew Doyle.

Yes, an FOI request, carefully worded so they cannot dodge providing the sought after information can be put in by anyone.

I’ve sent everything to GB News but please do the same, the more the merrier.

Thank you Graham.

I ploughed through the EIS and realised that it was NOT what I'd hoped for and also that I was going to have to reread it several times and make notes. The key information is all carefully hidden. Your analysis is really helpful.

The points I noticed on my first pass were that the base assumption is that 'gender identity' is real and that 'affirmation' (social, medical and surgical) is a valid treatment, that the very endocrinologists who have been pursuing the kid transing ideological path are going to retain too much power and that none of the key concepts / conditions / criteria etc will be defined ahead of the consultation.

I'm also very worried about the treatment pathway for 16 and 17 year olds.

I have lost all faith in the NHS.

Thanks, Graham, for this excellent and very useful article.

It appears that you can only respond online. There are just three questions and you will have to work out how to fit your response into those three questions. Those questions are:

Has all the relevant evidence been taken into account?

Does the equality and health inequalities impact assessment reflect the potential impact that might arise as a result of the proposed changes?

Are there any changes or additions you think need to be made to this policy?

I hope that as many people as possible, who support the gender critical campaign will respond.

Thanks again, Dusty.

Thanks Dusty, very useful. Graham’s article has really clarified my thinking on this. I hope lots of people respond.

Thanks, TT

I also feel it is unsatisfactory to have a purely online response mechanism. Obviously all of us typing away here in the comments can cope with that method but there are a significant number of people who are not 'digitally literate' and they ought to be given the option of an alternative 'paper response'.

That’s a really good point. I think another message to GB News and the Mail is called for, as well as messaging the NHS. I’ll contact my doctor too, I’ve already written to him to complain about a survey which asked if I was male, female or non binary 😠. Also, I’ll send everything to Miriam Cates with your concern added.

Yes, it was a good point. Notice how many UK government consultations are up to these tricks - they have had to extend the deadline for the closure of rail ticket offices one due to the mass outrage. They are regularly breaking their own consultation procedures indicating what a farce many of these are.

This is exactly how the rot has become so embedded - the bureaucracies we have aren't abiding by their own policies in very many basic ways. No one seems to be aware of or following law. That is a failure of state delivery and I am spending more and more of my time on many obvious and simple errors in how our services are being delivered. Like getting Capone on his taxes. It's hugely frustrating when everything needs double checking and seems to be creaking at the seams, reminding them of the obvious, then this is all denied, delayed and there is little oversight. It takes effort to plough through all the non-answers, lies and obfuscation.

It looks like they've already set up and planned the 'new' system as a disseminated mirror image of the Tavistock and old system and despite all the reviews, reports, whistleblowing and publicity. The same staff are involved. The same nonsense and illegal 'policies' are still being pumped out by NHS England and individual trusts. There was a mooted class action and we need something legal to stop this - and despite all the cases we've had shining a light on some charity sector genderology proponents they are carrying on as before.

my sister’s child’s school read a book out to the yr 6 kids (10-11) i can’t remember what it was called but it was something like… when Colin became katy…. not those names i can’t remember them. So that was in the north east. I told her i’d be furious. Fucking teaching kids to hate their bodies.

Why arent they teaching that brave people literally lost their lives to break the conventions of their societies- the ones that deemed women too stupid to vote, and that people on account of the colour of their skin were deemed to be fit for a life of slavery.

And that people in love with a human being of the same sex were deemed rotten to their very core. Sinful from the moment their mother gave birth to them.

over my dead fucking body will i tolerate anyone telling my son he is a girl because he likes this or that. Or my girl that she displays masculine qualities because she loves this or that.

The people

that died

to give us the freedoms and strength to love and respect each

other needs

to be celebrated and remembered each day.

Every cell in each person's body is unique to that individual. The cells in your brain correspond to those in your big toe and they correspond to those in your anus, so there is no way anyone can be born in the wrong body.

Any feeling of being in any way akin to the opposite sex must, therefore be psychological, and, therefore, a disconnect seated in the brain. No amount of hormones or surgery can change your sex. The issue is one of body dysmorphia rather than dysphoria. In adults, this is more or less due to deep seated paraphilia and/or fetish (wholly sexual); in children, it is likely to be unrealised homosexuality, and, left alone, these children will grow into their sexual orientation naturally. Another 10 pc at least will be straight and, again, require no hormones or surgery. In a small minority of cases, hormone treatment and/or surgery may be necessary in adulthood to relieve symptoms.

Whatever, not one of these people is anything other than the sex into which they were born, and, therefore, has no right in human rights to access the personal/private spaces of the other sex. To insist on so doing is a blatant breach of the human rights of others and is highly suggestive of a sexual motive based on predatory behaviour/paraphilia/fetish - one or more of those.

It’s as if the NHS doesn’t think the £1.6 bn it will have paid in compensation to patients in 2022/23 is enough. Watch this space. Parents and taxpayers.

My thoughts exactly. If people can’t be bothered to fight for the welfare and safeguarding of children, they might at least be bothered about future compensation payouts.

And from inside the house no one seems to trust regulators and they are again stating that fundamental services health services - like maternity care - are still in meltdown with the most basic standards of care and professionalism absent. More and more whistleblowers and for exactly the same issues popping up at yet another site. It's hard not to think this destruction of basic standards and funding odd things not provision of vital care is deliberate. No one seems to be able to get a grip on this.

How the CQC and NHS England, let alone all the other myriad bodies let any of this happen and that it is still happening needs an Inquiry.
