A handful of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
The Scottish TERFs Are Killing It!
Hundreds of people responded to the Scottish census with hilarious answers to protest the official guidance which allowed people to ‘self-identify’ their sex.
Over 650 people, around 100 of them men, completed an online survey about their answers. In response to the question on religion, hundreds answered ‘believer in biology’ and when asked about travel to work, many replied ‘by broomstick’.
Women Won’t Wheesht
Liz Truss, has reiterated her opposition to self-ID legislation and vowed to protect female-only spaces in Scotland.
“I am very clear that we need to protect single sex spaces and within the Equality Act that is absolutely legitimate… I will make sure that happens across the UK.”
Boxing Clever
The World Boxing Council has barred trans-identified males from competing in the female sport.
“At present level of scientific knowledge, the WBC consensus is that allowing transgender athletes to compete raises serious health and safety concerns.”
Glinner Of Hope
Don’t miss Graham on GB News, talking about his appalling treatment on BBC’s Newsnight and his total vindication in light of recent events.
If, like me, you think Newsnight owes Graham a long-overdue apology and would like to drop the editor a line, here are the contact details. And here is a letter/email template which you’re very welcome to crib. Do feel free to use your own words, though!

Dear Mr Maclean,
RE: Newsnight interview with Graham Linehan February 2020
In February 2020 Newsnight interviewed writer and director, Graham Linehan, over his speaking out about the harms of gender identity ideology.
From the outset, Mr Linehan was treated in a hostile way by the presenter, Sarah Smith. She constantly interrupted him and spoke over him, thus preventing him from making his point and putting across vital information.
Mr Linehan tried to discuss the urgent situation at The Tavistock & Portman child gender clinic. He explained that untested cancer treatment drugs were being used to halt the puberty of vulnerable children, that gay and lesbian youngsters were being persuaded they need medical intervention and that dozens of concerned clinicians were resigning from the clinic in protest.
Only a few months after this interview, two of Newsnight’s own journalists broke a story about the Tavistock clinic, reporting on leaked documents which revealed the extent to which serious staff concerns over patient welfare were being shut down and dismissed.
When Mr Linehan tried to make these same points to Ms Smith, however, she scoffed at him, dismissed his comments, questioned his evidence and described his view of the Tavistock as a ‘ridiculous exaggeration’. She also accused him of extremism. Smith’s priority seemed to be to denigrate and berate Mr Linehan rather than investigate what has become the worst medical scandal of the century.
As you are no doubt aware, the Cass Review Interim Report was published in March and highlighted significant concerns about the treatment provided at The Tavistock. It acknowledged the significance of rapid-onset gender dysphoria, the link between dysphoria and co-morbidities, the rapid increase in teenage girls experiencing gender issues, the concerns of the therapists and clinicians who warn that a holistic approach to treatment is required, the limitations of an 'affirmation-only' approach, the lack of evidence regarding medication and the insufficient follow-up information on patients.
More recently, the Cass Review has advised that the Tavistock is ‘not a safe or viable long-term option’ for the treatment of gender-confused children and the clinic will close within the year. It will be replaced by regional centres at existing children’s hospitals and patients will be offered more ‘holistic care’ with ‘strong links to mental health services’.
In other words, Mr Linehan has been completely vindicated and his warnings about the harm being caused to children at the Tavistock have been entirely corroborated.
I believe your programme owes Mr Linehan, at the very least, a public apology. Perhaps you could invite him onto Newsnight again in order to affect that apology and, this time, your presenter could listen to what he has to say.
Yours sincerely etc.
