Everyone’s dumbstruck that we’re still doing this after all these years.

Thanks JL. I’m sure it’s going to end one day and you can do a keep fit or wine making substack instead. I know which I’d go for. 😁

Cheers, TT. I have to say, were I to write about keep fit, it would be a very short article indeed! Wine, on the other hand, I know a bit more about!

Why can't "Scout Pride" just mean that one takes pride in being a Scout?

It's time to take the word "pride" back. It was loaned out a few years ago, and its return to normal use is overdue.

Expand full comment

Yes! What about the rest of us. Pride is a sin, isn't it? The most over-used term in the last 10 years. I'm PROUD to be a gender-critical womanly female.

While it’s never easy , that was a hard read this week , I don’t know how you do it JL

Perhaps we need a “Detrans Day of Remembrance” and a “Sex is Real Week” and a “My Body is Me Month”.

Although my comment was mostly tongue in cheek, I do think that we need to boost the visibility and arguments of the sex realist side.

It currently seems like there’s been some serious doubling down by trans activists in response to a few recent “wins” by sex realists - Cass, the WPATH files, and now the (limited) publicity for the SCOTUS consideration of Skrmetti.

I’m a relative newbie to all this so can totally imagine that those of you who’ve been in the trenches for years must be experiencing some serious battle fatigue.

I have occasionally had a day of visibility for an animal. Why not?

Here is Red tailed Hawk Day of Visibility 😀 ( last piece)

i had a pretty dark thought about boys who have their gender identity affirmed by trusted adults whilst reading about the scouts. If a boy is allowed to share private spaces with girls, the trusted adults allowing him to do that aren’t just affirming his identity, they are also affirming and validating any of the feelings he might have whilst being around females in what should be private spaces. These adults are affirming and encouraging a misogynistic and predatory mindset as well. ‘I’m entitled to be around naked girls, my arousal has the blessing of this institution and girls are wrong to object to me- its not my fault i’m a lesbian’ Sorry thats a horrible thing to think. But i think its true. boys and men need clear unquestioned boundaries. All of us no exceptions

Well said cb

It’s exactly this. It’s giving predatory males the red light.

There's no way to fix scouting. Now it's leaped out of the pedo frying pan into the trans fire.

Thanks as ever, JL.

Many, many moons ago I was a patrol leader in the Scouts. We used to play games like British Bulldog. If we had been asked to play Pronoun Pairs there would have been a mass rebellion.

My advice to parents: get your children out of the Scouts!!!

I appreciate that some local groups may not be 'infected' yet but when this is the national policy!!!???

That was a heavy duty read reminiscent of the early days of the fightback - pretty depressing stuff.

Fortunately we also have positives these days to keep us motivated.

It's a relentless onslaught but we must double down in our opposition to it.

Thank you JL for all your efforts. 💜

It used to be Boy Scouts didn’t it? What happened?

It was male-only until 1976, when girls were allowed to join as Venture Scouts. At some point after that (can't recall the exact date) the scouts became fully open to both sexes. Girl Guiding is SUPPOSED to be female-only, but as we know, it really isn't.

Oh that’s surprising to me. I was a kid in the early eighties and remember it being Boy Scouts. I had no idea girls were allowed in. I know it’s not something I would’ve wanted to do at that age. I suppose if you were a tomboy and all your friends were boys you might.

It must be terrifying to be GC in Germany at the moment. Much as I hate what’s happening here, at least I only get called names and sworn at when I state my views.

It is truly Orwellian, not being allowed to say that a man is not a woman.

To be fair to Scouts, they have managed to produce the only training I’ve seen that accurately states the equality act. This makes them less captured than most large employers. It’s largely possible to ignore the guff mentioned above if your district plays no part in it. I’ve also viewed them as better at this than Guiding, who seem to push it so much more heavily. I’d have to stop volunteering if the above came to our area.

My son was a cub scout. I was thrilled that he enjoyed it so much. My husband joked that, "you know what they say about scoutmasters, nudge nudge". Then, some years later, one of the troop leaders - my favourite - was up in Court for kiddie fiddling! OK, most of them are normal guys, I know, but I have never trusted the organisation since.

Sources say Forest Harader died in a self-inflicted car crash (the "injury" that her family reported).

No doubt that "pride" coach will be late like the rest of the train. It would be a good idea for these operators to make their trains run on time, and not charge eye-watering fares for it. I'm not holding my breath, and certainly not "training it" this Xmas - I've had enough of this annual farce.
