Our cup runneth over with good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
The Dominoes Continue To Fall
Leading Scottish universities are deserting Stonewall’s equality league table.
Neither Edinburgh nor Glasgow universities have submitted applications this year while the University of the West of Scotland and Robert Gordon University both say they are ‘reviewing’ their participation in the scheme.
Meanwhile, in Whitehall, The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has severed ties with Stonewall following a review by business minister, Lord Callanan.
Bravo Delta
Delta Airlines refused to issue a ticket with a gender ‘X’ marker, saying their system can only accept either male or female passengers.
The Tragedy Of King Lia
Women are not going to shut up about the unfairness of Lia Thomas competing with and against female swimmers. This week the incomparable Coach Linda Blade wrote a guest editorial in Swimming World.
“Once it is acknowledged that sex takes the pre-eminence over self-declared gender and now that the collective evidence regarding gender transition is understood, the solution becomes very straight forward. The way to ensure full “inclusion” while maintaining the integrity of women’s sports is to convert the men’s category into ‘open’ (for men, transwomen, and other identities) and keep the women’s category restricted to the ‘female’ athlete.”
Furthermore, the Washington Examiner published a two-part interview with a female University of Pennsylvania swimmer. Although remaining anonymous, she is speaking out about the unfairness of Lia Thomas’ inclusion on her team.
“We just want to have what we were promised by joining the swim team, which is fair competition and equal opportunities… When Lia swims, we are all silent.”
Judy Knows The Score
Tennis coach and mother of champions, Judy Murray, has spoken out about the inclusion of trans-identified males in women’s sport.
“It could be really off-putting to female athletes to feel you could train for years to get to whatever level and then be knocked out or beaten by someone born with a physical strength advantage.”
A Sporting Chance
A South Dakota legislative committee has approved a bill that will prevent trans-identified males from competing in female school sports leagues.
The bill, proposed by Governor Kristi Noem, won approval in the Senate State Affairs committee and will now be considered during the legislative session later this month.
Cottoning On
Tom Cotton, Senator for Arkansas, has introduced a bill to put the kybosh on Biden’s plan to house male and female inmates together in federal prisons.
The Preventing Violence Against Female Inmates Act would prohibit the Bureau of Prisons from using self-declared gender identity to house male inmates in female facilities.
Sullivan On Point
Great piece from journalist, Andrew Sullivan, on the current state of trans activism.
“We need to reintroduce caution, scepticism and medical science, alongside compassion, to counter ideological fervour and adolescent delusion. And we need to debate all of this without anyone being threatened, demonized or banished from the public square. It’s doable.”
Delivering The Van
This week the LGB Alliance launched a new campaign.
To kick off, the LGB Alliance toured its ‘truth van’ around locations in central London to raise awareness about the effect of gender identity ideology on gay, lesbian and bisexual children. “Big things to come...”
Booting Out The Lies
Boots has apologised for publishing inaccurate and irresponsible comments about pronoun use and they have withdrawn the offending article.
He Self-Identifies As A Socialist
Spare a thought for poor lil Owen Jones, forced to spend an entire month in one of Europe’s most beautiful (and expensive) cities because operating a laptop in London is just too much of a struggle.
Hopefully, TOJ is a very, very slow writer.
Thanks a million ,JL for cheering us all up and saving our sanity once again . Great to see more people waking up to this unprecedented attack on science ,biology ,truth and justice. The misogyny at the heart of it has been apparent for such a long time but ignored by so many institutions etc. Very few people are denying " trans people " their rights in any case but by framing this as a "trans rights movement " the tras are deliberately misleading far too many people. Some people don't even realise that these poor " vulnerable transwomen " are MEN !! The people I feel sorry for are the kids who've been indoctrinated into this ,especially the girls who are either breast binding or have had double mastectomies !! Such a tragedy for all kids of both sexes who have been damaged by it .😭😭😭😭
