Another jam-packed edition full of good news from the gender beat. Enjoy!
Leaving Them Kids Alone
The government is expected to scrap proposed legislation that would have banned so-called ‘conversion therapy’ for those suffering with dysphoria.
Such legislation would have criminalised parents and clinicians wanting to explore non-invasive methods of treatment for dysphoric children and young people instead of ‘affirming’ and medicalising their ‘gender identity’.
Whitehall sources have told The Times that the government does not intend to pursue such laws. Which is excellent news.
The Barmy Army
An Army colonel, lambasted and investigated for stating biological facts, has been exonerated by an official inquiry.
In July we reported on Dr Kelvin Kelvin, an NHS intensive care consultant and British Army officer who was forced to resign from the forces for pointing out that it isn’t possible to change sex. After sharing a quotation from Helen Joyce - “If women cannot stand in a public place and say ‘men cannot be women’, then we do not have women’s rights at all” - to his private Facebook account, he was accused of ‘transphobia’ and subject to an Army investigation.
He has now been cleared of any wrongdoing by an official inquiry. This inquiry's findings are full of praise for Dr Wright and state that he had a legal right to express his gender critical views.
Music To Our Ears
An agreement has been reached in Cathy Boardman’s action against BIMM University.
Last year we reported on Cathy Boardman, a lecturer in cultural studies at private music academy, the BIMM Institute. She believed that she was sacked from her job over accusations of ‘transphobia’ and took legal action against the college.
Cathy posted on X (formerly Twitter) this week to say that an agreement has now been reached with her former employer. While the details have not been made public, the college made a statement that, “BIMM recognises that Ms Boardman holds legally protected beliefs in the immutability of sex. BIMM strives to ensure that all protected characteristics are respected in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010”.
We send our congratulations and best wishes to Cathy.
Leaving Them Kids Alone
The federal appeals court has upheld a ban on medical interventions for gender dysphoric children in Kentucky and Tennessee.
In April this year a lawsuit was filed to oppose legislation which prohibits medical intervention - puberty blockers, cross-hormones, surgeries etc - for children under eighteen who suffer with gender dysphoria.
This week the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the district court’s preliminary injunction and have upheld the law. In giving its decision, the court systematically dismantled trans activism’s spurious arguments and have dealt a definite blow against the medicalisation of vulnerable kids in the US.
Reeling With Success
The body which overseas international fishing and angling competitions has barred trans-identified males from participating on female teams and in female categories.
We have previously reported on the decision to include a trans-identified male, Becky Lee Birtwhistle-Hodges, on the England women’s sea fishing team.
This week the courageous women of the England team, ‘humiliated’ by the obvious advantage Birtwhistle-Hodges gave them, refused to participate in the forthcoming Shore Angling World Championships in November.
Then the redoubtable Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne took up their case and victory has prevailed.
The Confédération Internationale de la Pêche Sportive (CIPS) is the international federation overseeing angling sports that are carried out in fresh or seawater environments, fly fishing and casting sports. Following Emma Nicholson’s intervention, the CIPS has decided to maintain the integrity of the female sport and ban trans-identified males from women’s competitions.
Huge congratulations to all involved.
They See Her Rowling…
The day of its release, JK Rolling’s latest Strike novel, The Running Grave, topped Amazon’s best seller list.
Sharron Gets Longlisted
In other literary news, Sharron Davies’ book, Unfair Play, is one of the 18 nominees longlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year.
Huge congratulations and best of luck, Sharron!
Glinner Down Under
And yet more great news from the world of publishing; Graham’s book, Tough Crowd, is now available to order from all good bookshops in Australia and New Zealand.
Thanks to the heroic JKR, Sharron Davies (her book is excellent and Baroness Nicholson for all they are doing to protect the rights of women and girls.
Thanks also to Graham, who is also fighting for us and is also heroic.
A whole heap of thanks JL.
re: this from Graham recently in T'Telegraph "“The young actors from the Harry Potter series of films instantly betrayed her,” Linehan said, adding: “Those actors deserve to be remembered as symbols of the most remarkable arrogance, cowardice and ingratitude.” ... reminded me of this cartoon: https://ibb.co/9V2PnJ9
