I love the idea of the leaflet drop hidden in clothes pockets. Small acts like that that bring the issue to people who still don't know about this. I like to think that my distribution of TERFish stickers around the towns I frequently visit is bringing awareness.

I love the Grinner Good News Special. It certainly does raise the spirits. The Target campaign is excellent. I'm stickering as well in Glasgow and Edinburgh. They get removed quite quickly but I have a never ending supply! Every little gesture makes a difference. Real societal change has more often than not started at grass roots level.

We should do something similar for John Lewis...

John Lewis? I knew about M&S but didn't realise about John Lewis. I remember accompanying my very shy mother in law to JL to find her an outfit for a wedding. It was such fun in the changing room, the attendant was so sympathetic, running backwards and forwards for different bits and pieces. We all ended up standing in our pants, in tears laughing at our shapes, she being as flat as Kansas and me... not! I look back at it as such a joyful interlude. Women enjoying, and being reassured by, the company of women.

They announced you can use whichever changing room “you feel comfortable in” (which, for me, is no changing room used by men) before lockdown. I’m trying to find out if that policy will continue after unlocking on the 19th...

So happy for Maya!! 🥰

I love hearing the positive news about so many strong, amazing, resilient women out there holding the line and pushing back against the harm being done.

Putting little notes into the clothing, what a great idea. Needs to be done at M&S too.

maybe i'm being very dim but i couldn't find out how many people were questioned in the you gov poll. in statistics numbers do matter - if only a few people are asked, then qualitative findings may be more useful than the percentages (based on quantative data). if gc people are trying to use the collected stats (from the you gov poll) to persuade, then the numbers really do count and the data collected needs to be clearly displayed. we might also be suspicious of 'data' quoted by organisations who play fast and loose with interpretations of the law, and inquire into what questions were actually asked in their surveys (and also who designed the surveys); such as, when was the data collected, who oversaw the data collection and how were those questioned chosen (were those questioned selected across the board - according to sex, region, age?, socio-economic class etc or in in a less statistically significant manner at random/via an online poll).

I'm going out on a limb and saying the 4% who support gender neutral bathrooms is generous. Most men are not in favour of it as I assume it means they wouldn't be able to just walk in and use a urinal as before. They'd have to (possibly) queue for a cubicle. And most women don't want them for obvious reasons of privacy, safety, and dignity. I can really only see it as something the trans community would want and aren't they supposedly a very small percentage?

i guess if the 4 per cent actually thought about the economic cost of re-modelling all the public bathrooms they might reconsider their position. and is there anyway of knowing (ie from actual facts/data) just how big the 'community of Tim's' is (uk/usa)? or more importantly how many activists really want this change - and not just as a power grab or 'proof' of their influence?

I do think there should be "some" gender neutral toilets until such time that men can accept sharing the space with GNC men without reacting with violence or aggression. TIMs or transsexuals who pass well will likely use the female toilet, and I don't think we can do much about that. It's the obvious AGP types who need to be told to stay out of the ladies' loo. They're the ones who really need a separate space, even though they will argue against that.

Good to see the mainstream media are slowly but surely covering these issues and bringing issues to light to the voting public. I would have been horrified in the past to support the Daily Mail but needs must. I begrudge every single penny I pay the BBC. They need a big shake up. Their pay gap policy is criminal too!

Thanks JL, this really lifted my spirits, thank you for your hard work compiling the good news. Stella O’Malley does a though provoking podcast called Gender: A Wider Lens Podcast with Sasha Ayad. Well worth a listen.

Have ppl seen this little gem from a privileged white male calling out a black woman ? https://youtu.be/vfQYOA7NSTs

"I have seen many vaginas in women's changing rooms." Fucking liar. Claims that rhe prick strutting around the spa displaying his dick was actually quietly changing in a corner. The woman who was there must be lying. Doesn't explain why the prick was changing clothes in an area where women are expected to be naked.
