There’s another bumper edition of good news from the gender beat this week!
Woman Of Westminster Won’t Wheesht
Miriam Cates, Conservative MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, made a brilliant speech in the House of Commons about the dangers of gender identity ideology being peddled to children in schools.
“We must have a robust safeguarding process to ensure that the adults who go into schools and the materials they use are registered, approved and in line with DFE guidance, and that they are doing the best for our children, encouraging their wellbeing and not pushing their own agenda.”
Lords Defend Women’s Sport
Elsewhere in Parliament, Lord Triesman raised the question of including trans identified males in women’s sports in the House of Lords.
"The evidence is clear that there are retained advantages in strength, stamina and physique for the average transgender woman, with or without testosterone suppression.”
The subsequent debate saw numerous members of the house voice their support for fairness and evidence-based policy in women’s sport.
Good News From Down Under
The Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) has urged caution re the affirmation model when treating gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.
In a newly issued position statement, RANZCP made the following key messages:
According to SEGM, “This new statement is the first position statement released by a professional body, as far as we are aware, which does not specifically endorse a gender-affirming approach.”
Even More Good News From Down Under
Under Australia’s Sex Discrimination Act, sports clubs and volunteers can face legal action for offering single-sex women’s sport.
Senator Claire Chandler has announced that she is drafting a Private Senator’s Bill to put a stop to this practice and restore the rights of women and girls in sport.
Auntie Leaves The Sinking Ship
The big news this week is that the BBC is leaving Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index and Diversity Champions Programme.
The BBC issued a statement:
“Along with many other UK employers, the BBC has participated in Stonewall’s Diversity Champions Programme to support our objective to create a fully inclusive workplace. However, over time our participation in the Programme has led some to question whether the BBC can be impartial when reporting on public policy debates where Stonewall is taking an active role.
After careful consideration, we believe it is time to step back from the Diversity Champions Programme and will also no longer participate in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index.”
Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Woman’s Hour
If you haven’t already heard it, you must listen to Emma Barnett’s blistering interview with BBC director, Rhodri Talfan Davies, on Woman’s Hour.
One For Your Shopping List
Kara Dansky’s book, The Abolition of Sex: How the “Transgender” Agenda Harms Women and Girls, is available now.
“This book shines a light on the truth about “gender identity,” the “transgender” agenda, the very real threats that they pose to all of society—specifically to the rights, privacy, and safety of women and girls—and what the global Women’s Human Rights Campaign is doing to fight back.”
Schadenfreude Corner
Good Law Project barrister, Jolyon Maugham, is facing legal action.
Vulpine-averse puberty blocker evangelist, Jolyon Maugham QC, is in hot water this week. He has been accused of libelling a small manufacturing company in Gloucestershire over its supplying of equipment to the NHS during the Covid19 crisis. The company’s CEO has indicated he intends to take legal action.
“Vulpine-averse puberty blocker evangelist, Jolyon Maugham QC” Fave sentence ever 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A question which will not go away in my head. Those MPs who so readily got sucked into the gender ideology thing - are they really fit to be making decisions on running the country?
