Another busy week on the gender beat with plenty of good news stories to enjoy!
The Tragedy Of King Lia
Lia Thomas continues to peak the world after a number of media appearances.
Olympian, civil rights lawyer and female advocate, Nancy Hogshead, responded to Thomas in an interview with TMZ Live.
“After somebody has been through male puberty, you cannot roll that back. So, it isn't fair… Sport is not based on identity. It is based on biology.”
Admirably, Caitlyn Jenner also continued to speak out in defence of women’s sports.
Jenner said he blamed the NCAA for enabling Thomas’ participation in women’s swimming. “Right now we’re living in this woke world that allows her [sic] to compete and win medals against biological women.”
Journalist, Dan Wootton, wrote an opinion piece for The Daily Mail.
“While it might not be politically correct to state the obvious in this woke world, Lia continues to have all the physical attributes of a bloke – yes, all of them.”
Furthermore, clinicians have confirmed the scientific evidence of Thomas’ physical advantages over women.
Dr Michael J Joyner of the Mayo Clinic told The New York Times, “There are social aspects to sport, but physiology and biology underpin it. Testosterone is the 800-pound gorilla”.
Sports scientist, Dr Ross Tucker, commented, “Lia Thomas is the manifestation of the scientific evidence. The reduction in testosterone did not remove her [sic] biological advantage”.
One For The Reading List
Karen Ingala Smith’s forthcoming book, Defending Women’s Spaces, is due out in November, published by Polity Books.
Yes, Ministers
The ‘sex realists’ are gaining ground in parliament, says Sex Matters.
“Sex Matters, alongside other organisations, has been writing policy papers and submissions, and briefing MPs and peers. While these battles can be long and slow, we are all gaining some ground at Westminster.”
There certainly appear to be more politicians speaking out on gender identity ideology. Labour Party chair, Annelise Dodds, told Sky News that she disagrees with Stella Creasy over the ‘female penis’ issue.
“I don’t agree with her… Sex is not the same as gender.”
Elsewhere in Westminster, Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab, told GB News that “It's obvious a woman cannot be born with a penis”.
Following his run-in with student trans activists at Warwick University last week, Education Secretary, Nadhim Zahawi, wrote about the importance of free speech in The Daily Mail.
“I was accused of inciting hatred for simply defining women as ‘adult human females’. Let me be clear. I will never deny biology and the safety and security of women must be the priority of myself and others in a position of power. But we must always show kindness, tolerance and love when discussing these sensitive issues.
Most students were happy to disagree with me politely and respectfully and to engage in debate. But across too many campuses, there is a less tolerant approach. This is why phenomenal women such as J. K. Rowling have received so much hateful abuse and seen attempts to discredit their name. Enough is enough. This has to stop.”
The Empire Strikes Back
The best and most exciting news this week has to be the awarding of a British Empire Medal to the wonderful Stephanie Davies-Arai of Transgender Trend in recognition of her services to children.
“I am very proud to receive this honour in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, as founder of Transgender Trend for services to children, and I am grateful to those who nominated me.
To me this is not only vindication of my work over the past seven years. This is recognition for all the parents who have been vilified for simply wanting a proper standard of care for their children. It is confirmation that their concerns are valid and not born of bigotry. My hope is that this honour will give all parents more confidence in challenging a system that is failing children and in holding schools to account for teaching their children non-scientific concepts as truth.
Everyone who cares about the safeguarding and wellbeing of children welcomes open debate and exchange of views. Tactics to silence debate create fear of speaking up and puts children at risk. I am proud to have played my part in facilitating discussion about the treatment of children who experience gender-related distress and I am honoured to have my work recognised as being in the service of children.”
Huge congratulations, Stephanie. We couldn’t be more thrilled and proud.
I just love these Good News editions! It sends my spirits soaring to know that more and more, people feel freer to say 2+2=4, and to refuse to say 2+2=5! Thank you, JL!!
Thanks JL. I needed this today after the horror of an email from the Chartered Management Institute pushing gender ideology on manager and leaders around the globe. The absolutley worst bit from their article was the following quote:
“Right now it’s an unkind world and it’s dangerous to be trans or non-binary in the UK,” says Rachel. “In the UK, when I see pronouns in a signature box or on their social media, I see possibly a trans or non-binary person, an ally, or a friend, I feel safe with that person.”
Dangerous to be trans or non-binary in the UK? Really? Where's the evidence? I'd say it's more dangerous to be a woman and GC at the moment with people like Reyes called for the murder of Terfs. I am so angry that they are implying that GC people are potentially not safe, that those who choose not to virtue signal their pronouns may not be an LGB ally, or be unsafe for them or trans people. I mean no harm to anyone. Go be who you want to be, just stop denying sex based reality and the integrity of womanhood!
