‘Her lawyer said exposing her genitals was not a sexual act but was “a demonstration” in an argument about gender.’ If his aim was to argue/undeniably demonstrate that he’s a bloke, then congratulations mister! 100% convinced.

The folks at Napier University really have lost tge plot if they think that men with prostate and a penis can get pregnant. In fact, should such people have anything to do with teaching nurses since they don't understand basic biology?

They may as well be telling midwives that donkeys can give birth to crocodiles. They know biological men giving birth is monumental garbage, but they play their roles in the gender pantomime anyway.

Denying the obvious - and demanding that others do the same - is probably the single most reliable indicator of a fundamentalist religious movement. The expectation that this can be done in a space where people must be expected to know better is a very good indicator that this religious movement feels it has won the battle.

Yes. The capture of the birth world, a world intimately involved with the biology of women and their biological processes, well -- that capture is the most prized. Any other institution or persons, after that victory, would be a piece of cake.

It has so many characteristics of an extremist religious/cultish movement. It's hierarchical, extremely corrupt, manipulative and controlling and hostile when challenged. Full of inconsistencies and unprovable truths that continue to be truths even when proven otherwise. And ostricisation or worse for those who lose the faith and oppose it.

As you say, they are getting cooperation from people who should know better, and do know better. But more cooperation means more exposure, which seems to be the last thing extremist movements want, unless they're exceptionally powerful. The Church of Gender Identity Deliverance has certainly won a lot of cooperation, but it has to keep on winning it and be able to retainin it. For that to happen it needs more than zealots and a compliant gallery, it needs genuine believers, and there are far too few of them.

To contradict you on one point here: One thing that it is not is hierarchical. This movement has no clear structure and no leadership. That does not prove it isn't cultish, however. Modern esoterics have changed considerably over the past two decades, partly, but not only, due to social media. Very few esoteric movements nowadays still rely on almighty gurus. Instead, every member can proclaim themselves a mini-guru - much akin to direct marketing schemes. Whatever hierarchies they may retain is vague and aloof and exerts little control over the followership. Basically all it does is skim off money. Enforcement of creeds, adherence to rules etc. is largely left to self organized mobs of followers and mostly to the individual followers themselves. It is possible because the faithful are usually so immersed in the cult's bubbles that they fully internalize rules and expected behavior and such, so they very effectively control themselves.

Transideology reflects this perfectly. In that sense, it is perhaps the purest embodiment of this development we'll find. This is no coincidence, at least I don't think so. Transideology stands at a cross section between modern secular religiosity borne out of postmodernism and New Age esoterics. By European standards, its main thesis' are classic elements of New Age esoterics: The preordained true self, the triumph of the the will, i.e. the notion that thoughts change matter etc. By North American standards, it fits right into traditional religious notions, however. This may explain why it is so particularly successful into the US. (I can only recommend Harold Bloom's The American Religion.)

You are perfectly right that the Church of the Unicorn needs to keep winning. It charges its members with believing and professing to believe the absurd. Indeed, like all radical religions, it raises this to the level of utmost virtue. Credo qui absurdo - I believe BECAUSE it is absurd. The more radically the believed differs from the observable, the more effort you have to put into it, however. The best way to do this is to proselytize. If you can convince others to profess to your Creed, this proves that the Absurd is worthy of believing in. The higher the sacrifices, the more likely you are to adhere to the Creed even in the face of adversity. You can't admit that it was all in vain. Indeed, adversity serves as evidence that you are right. Which is, I suppose, one of the reasons why every little objection is blown out of proportion.

Thank you for your very interesting response. On reflection I think you're right. This movement, such as it is one, is diffuse, coming from and and relying on multiple sources, some of which seem to have hierarchies. But I agree, the ideology or conviction and the doctrinaire approach accommodates endless modifications and changes of emphasis, which in turn accommodates numerous authorities or gurus. But there is a core of shared ideas which, as you say, haa been internalised by disciples meaning they aren't going to deviate from it because doing that would have no value or purpose. Not only that, it would feel potentially dangerous, consciously or unconsciously.

I've just read a bit about Harold Bloom and The American Religion, my knowledge of this is minimal to say the least, it doesn't really extend beyond stereotype. So I'll try to read this book, it looks interesting. I agree with you regarding members of this particular religion about belief in the absurd in relation to virtuousness, and the greater the absurdity the greater the virtue. And the path for the emergence of more or less anything is cleared, no explanation or validation required. And as far as this is concerned, I think your last few sentences are especially pertinent. We see it all the time.

Thank you JL. Another week where I peer through my hands covering my face as I'm unsure if I can bear reading the onslaught of same old, same old.

When I read of these incidents I am reminded of historical records - that's paper archives and official records but more vitally the folk tales and songs passed down through generations. It's all too familiar to me, and those who wish to do wrong to others - to take, to steal, to do harm - that we are warned about and who will always be with us. To think they can get away with it by pretending to be women? Wolves in sheep's clothing.

Hard to believe the College of policing is still supporting this after the Harry Miller case and that journalists are still calling men " she "!! When ,oh when, are they going to start " growing a pair " and start reporting accurately ?? There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT SEE !! Keep it up ,JL. You're a star ⭐⭐⭐

Me too. What the authorities are allowing to happen to these vulnerable women is the purest, most evil, form of misogyny. It’s got to stop.

When a country does not recognise the human rights of its prisoners, it loses the right to call itself a democracy and civilised. GB has lost the right as women prisoners fear rape and pregnancy as a result of TIMs being housed in the female estate. There needs to be court cases where female prisoners take the prison services (England and Scotland) to court for blatant breach of their human rights. TIMs can be kept in the male estate in a separate wing, with no breach of their rights.

Expand full comment

You just know that any female prisoner will be shredded in the press so it will take luck and a fair wind to get very far. And she will risk her life and past misdemeanours being paraded about and that well she must be a bad 'un anyway, what did she expect. The ones who've spoken up thus far have been brave.

Reading that one of the CSE survivors was on the same panel as that Tory MP who's only grudgingly now accepted, and after being found guilty in court, that it's really not a good look to have him in any position of authority or power over others.

Why people end up with criminal records and others don't will forever be a mystery to me.

Expand full comment

There are women who want to go to court on human rights grounds and who have the support needed to do just that. They are waiting to hear from SLAB re funding the cases. Then there is the backlog on court cases due to the pandemic! These women are as tough as tackety boots - their expression, not mine - and basically want justice for themselves and others like them. At least one has spoken out before in the media and is prepared to support her sisters to "get it right"! Maybe this year will be the year that tge Scottish Government gets the "kicking" in the courts that it needs to stop this human rights travesty!

That's why class action suits in the U.S. are a good idea, women getting together and not attempting individual lawsuits. I still thinking suing ACLU is a good idea, demanding restitution from them for trauma, rape, pregnancy.

So much to shock and appall, God knows where to start. Among the positive news though, it's good that the Telegraph and Mail are reporting on some of this stuff. Plus the the ludicrous nonsense being imposed on midwifery students in Scotland being exposed.

The claim the 'most' 'birthing people' have female genitals means that some don't. Surely, the authors of this new science intend to explain how a fully biological male with no ovaries, womb or vagina then gives birth through his dick. And tell their students how babies conceived and gestated in men's pelvic cavities are doing following the birth. Do they have any special needs for example?

This has got to be one of the most unbelievable stories to come out of this madness. Only someone deep in psychosis -- I dread thinking what percentage of our population fall into that category, with millions thinking they're going to be raptured into heaven when the Earth burns -- could ever think, write, or believe such pure and utter inanity.

If they can issue "equality" manifestoes, surely we can issue a "biological reality" manifesto! The word "manifesto" is derived from the word "manifest": to be manifest is to be easy to perceive or recognize. The manifest would be simple. Hang on. I'm just off to write up my version. Will be back later.

The College of Policing promoting mixed sex facilities is a cracker! Are there any women here tempted to join Brenda's finest?

How many proven cases of male coppers being sexual abusers have there been just recently? In Scotland they are known as 50/50 clowns, which in context couldn't be more appropriate.

Nig has been taken off of Twitter again, but he has peaked many. As odious as the images are, the naive notion that these men are just walking into M&S in a Laura Ashley dress, to buy a weekly shop, before patting babies on their heads and walking the spaniel, are frankly ridiculous.

The revolting pictures of the Berlin baby man, showing pictures of very young girls, and porn, on his walls, should be a firm reminder to doubters, these men are far from the ‘just needing to pee’ types, they are predators!

Genuine question! Can someone explain to me how a volunteer (girl guiding) is allowed to take the 'employer' to court?

Expand full comment

With most volunteering roles you still have a contract of employment that you need to agree to, abide by and sign as with any paid role. It's been a tricky area and behaviour management and understanding expectations can be hard. Volunteering has been becoming more professionalised for a while, but it's important to have oversight and accountability as we've moved more and more provision to the sector. It was then part of the Cameron 'Big Society' when in effect paid employment and security of tenure was eroded and 'oh you can just volunteer for your community' was encouraged. They can be very tough and needed roles - all the Guiding leaders we hear of sounding the alarm about mixed sex sleeping arrangements and what we are teaching our children have a point and I am glad they've been brave enough to expose it.

It's a really tricky balance and some people seem to be playing at this - and are very demanding of their rights to do what they like where they like. That Girlguiding jumped on the Trans Activist Train so wholeheartedly and continue to is curious.

Thank you. I was a paid charity shop manager for Oxscam for many years and yes they did sign a 'contract' but I was always told they had no recourse under employment law blah blah - it was hard enough when i took them to tribunal let alone if not 'employed'..she obviously got very good advice.

I think this one may have overdone it. But then again, I wouldn't put it beyond the ACLU to argue he had to rape the woman because she wouldn't consent to sex, because she is a transphobic bigot. So what's the poor bastard to do in face of all this? (Pardon me, of course our beloved rapist is a woman, how could anyone ever think otherwise?) A clear cut case of self defense if there ever was one. An unfortunate turn of events, perhaps, but in the end, the victim brought it upon herself. So let's overturn his prior convictions too, while we're at it. (But that would put him out of women's prison and he may not like that. A bit of a dilemma here, isn't it? Oops, I misgendered him again. Erm... Her, of course. This is all for much more enligthened people than I am. I will repent and a read a chapter in the Gospel of Judith.)
