So much good news from the gender beat this week, I struggled to fit it all in! Enjoy!
Women Won’t Wheesht In Sport
Sharon Davies appeared on Sky News discussing the unfairness of allowing trans-identified males to compete in female sports and putting the case for an open category.
“We want everybody in sport. This isn’t about an anti-transgender policy. This is about a pro-female sport policy.”
Best Beeb & Tucker
The BBC also featured some sensible debate about female sport categories. Leading sports scientist, Ross Tucker, appeared on Radio 4’s More or Less programme and presented some hard facts about the unfairness of including trans-identified males.
His ‘testosterone ticket’ analogy is well worth a listen.
My Sweet Lords
Baroness Nicholson is not the only friend to women in the House of Lords. Her speech on the provision of single-sex spaces can be found here, and she found allyship in Baron Hunt of Kings Heath (or @LordPhilofBrum as he’s known on Twitter), who highlighted the need to review the Annex B guidance which allows for self-identification.
As did Lord Clement-Jones.
And Lord Blencarthra.
Meanwhile, Lord Daniel Moylan appeared on GB News and spoke in defence of the EHRC.
“I don’t think that ‘TERF’ and ‘transphobic’ are used as insults. If I insult you we could still make up and be friends later. These terms are used to destroy you, to annihilate you, to remove you from public discourse altogether If these terms are used against you, it's with a view to silencing you and I think that is a very, very dangerous trend.”
The Dominoes Continue To Fall
More good news from the House of Lords; it is the latest institution to leave Stonewall’s ‘diversity champions’ programme.
Sir Trevor Skewers Stonewall
While we’re on the subject, check out this Spectator article by Sir Trevor Philips, former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. It is a searing piece which pours scorn on Stonewall’s ‘ironic’ attack of the EHRC.
“The extremists have so far had it their own way. It’s time for the grown-ups to come back from the pub and turn off the fantasy on TV. And if the EHRC is first through the door, so much the better. That’s why we created it; that’s what it’s there for.”
Women Won’t Wheesht In Parliament
Miriam Cates, MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, spoke in the House of Commons against the teaching of ‘extreme gender ideology’ in schools.
“When gender non-conforming or autistic or same-sex attracted or troubled children are being told by trusted adults that their problems can be solved by changing sex then we have a serious safeguarding and wellbeing issue.”
Legal Eagles
Some good news regarding the sex v gender law suits currently pending. Lisa Keogh will be represented by the indomitable Joanna Cherry QC.
Professor Jo Phoenix will be represented by the incredible team of Naomi Cunningham and Ben Cooper.
#NoMenInWomensPrisons
There was a huge turnout for the #KeepPrisonsSingleSex protest outside the Ministry of Justice in London on Saturday.
Look at all those lovely bots! Brava, sisters (and male allies)!
So tiring for Sharon Davies. having to explain reality to fuckwits. No-one is stopping men who identify as women from playing sport. They can play men's sport, or like the rest of us, accept their (in their case self-inflicted) physical limitations and do something else instead. Gah!!
A great list, thank you so much. My very favourite is the House of Lords leaving Stonewall. This may help more members coming forward against the madness.
