I may be an outlier, but I look forward to the day there are no child gender identity clinics. The very concept of gender dysphoria is treated as some unassailable reality, when it depends very heavily upon gender stereotypes. It represents a mishmash of other diagnoses and social contagion and should never have been treated by changing the child to fit the stereotype.

I agree 100% Ellen.

Completely agree. It’s hard to understand how people can’t see how obviously wrong it is to force children into boxes based on stereotypes... if a child wants to play with certain toys or have their hair a certain way or wear a certain colour just let them without labelling it, why would you not just do so? Every story I’ve ever read about parents with trans kids recently starts with toys/colours/clothes/hair then takes a sudden leap via an obviously fictitious anecdote where the child says something they would never say at that age about wanting opposite genitals/god making a mistake etc. You can see the Transhausen in action.

I'm a hard-liner on this - I actually think *all* cosmetic surgeries need to be stopped pending review of their safety and the creation of strict guidelines on when they can be done. All cosmetic surgery, from teeth-whitening to vaginoplasty, is elective and needs to be examined closely and only allowed if there is an actual clinical need, assessed proportionately (maybe less scrutiny at the teeth-whitening end of things, but much more at the mastectomy/castration/vaginoplasty end of things).

On the whole, it seems to me that "sex change" surgery should fall under the general position in law regarding elective removal of body parts - it should not be allowed. If a person decided they wanted their had removed for whatever reason, it would be an offence for a doctor (in the UK) to do it. It is harm that cannot lawfully be consented to. The "sex change" doctors are, as I read it, acting unlawfully (I can say more about this if anyone wants it).

This, of course, doesn't apply to treatments intended to return a person to what they were before (as closely as possible, e.g. breast implants after mastectomy to treat or prevent cancer). These are quantifiably different situations.

"Wanted their hand", or "wanted their head"; please say more?

🤣🤣🤣 My eyes aren't good enough for proof-reading on the phone! I meant "hand" - removal of the head would come under different laws!!

Give it time... 😜

What laws are you referring to (for hands/"sex change")?

I'm sucker for a border collie! My family had one when I was much younger and he used to try and 'round up' the household (humans and the other animals) to get us all in the one place where he could keep and eye on us!

German shepherds do this as well, can't stand for everyone not to be together in one place! (Though my rescue is married to her comfy bed in the dining room most of the time!)

I'll add a further word: "extirpation" of the entire notion of "gender" from UK law: repeal of the GRA, removal of "gender reassignment" from the list of protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 and consequent changes to Hate crime legislation.

I look forward to the day when adult GI services are also closed down. Dr Paul McHugh, professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University Medical School had the right idea and closed down their GI clinic in 1979 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_R._McHugh He said: “The transgendered suffer a disorder of 'assumption.'” Amen to that!

My understanding is that, unfortunately, they are back at it.

Vindication. Exculpation. Exoneration. Those three beautiful words are reserved for the courageous.

Very pleased to read about the Cass Report. I can only take so much gender ideology grimness so I'd missed that good news story. James Esses has been a hero; great to see him enjoying some hard-won vindication.

Many thanks JL.

Is it possible someone at Express newspapers has a sense of humour?

I hope you will enjoy an article which refers to Owen Jones as "Ms Jones" as much as I did: https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1582226/Owen-Jones-Dawn-Neesom-Jeremy-Vine-Cost-Of-Living-Economy-Money-Salary-Money-UK-VN
