Our cup runneth over with good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Rishi Gets It
Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who has already made clear he knows that a woman is an adult human female, is backing a cross-party initiative to protect women’s rights. He has made his position unequivocally clear, writing in The Daily Express.
“I am pledging my support to Miriam Cates MP and Rosie Duffield MP’s call to protect women’s rights and ensure the dignity of women and girls by preserving single-sex spaces such as women’s refuges and rape crisis centres… When it comes to women’s spaces, women’s prisons, changing rooms, sports, health, I believe that biological sex really matters. I know what a woman is – and I’ll protect women’s rights and women’s spaces.”
Petition Parley
Parliament has decided to debate the petition set up by Sex Matters. MPs will discuss the possibility of amending the Equality Act 2010 to clarify the definition of ‘sex’. It’s happening on 12th June. Save the date!
LGB Alliance On Campus
Exciting news from our friends at the LGB Alliance; they’re launching a nationwide network for lesbian, gay and bisexual students.
There are already LGBA student networks at the University of Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Hull, the University of Central Lancashire and City, University of London.
If you would be interested in setting up a student network at your college or university, please get in touch with the LGB Alliance.
Game Set & Match
Tennis legend and absolute shero, Martina Navratilova, put swimming cheat, Lia Thomas, firmly in his place this week.
When Thomas had the audacity to try and mansplain feminism while simultaneously throwing a mantrum over women defending their sports, Martina responded, “NEWSFLASH Lia- it’s not fair. We shouldn’t have to explain it to you over and over. Also- stop explaining feminism to feminists”. Brava!
And more unwelcome news for Thomas this week; Riley Gaines has filed a $2million lawsuit against him over his participation in women’s swimming events.

Leaving Them Kids Alone
In the US, the Florida House is to issue subpoenas to the state chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Psychological Association over their guidelines supporting the medicalisation of children.
House Speaker, Paul Renner, questioned whether these guidelines were the result of proper scientific research or the capture of the medical profession by ‘radical gender ideology’. He said he wants to examine how such recommendations were arrived at and has directed the House Health and Human Services Committee to conduct an investigation.
Also this week, Montana and North Dakota became the latest US states to pass legislation protecting gender non-conforming children from medicalisation.
In both cases, state laws will criminalise clinicians who prescribe puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones for or perform so-called ‘gender affirming’ surgeries on minors under the age of eighteen.
It’s been a busy week in North Dakota; the House has not only protected vulnerable young people, but also women’s sex based rights. This misleading headline should more accurately read ‘North Dakota defends female-only spaces’.
Governor, Doug Burgum, has just signed into law new legislation which bans males, however they identify, from accessing women’s bathrooms, changing rooms and showers and from being accommodated in female-only dormitories etc in colleges and universities. The legislation also extends to female prisons meaning that males cannot be incarcerated in the female estate.
Women Won’t Wheesht
The redoubtable women of For Women Scotland are continuing their legal battle to protect the definition of the word ‘woman’ in Scottish legislation.
“We are appealing the judicial review decision by Lady Haldane in the Outer House Court of Session which ruled that the protected characteristic of ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010 refers to a person’s sex as recognised in law, and not biological sex… Our legal team are confident in an appeal challenge and have lodged our Grounds of Appeal with the Inner House Court of Session.”
This is a crucial case for the women of Scotland. If you would like to donate to the Crowdjustice fund, you can do so here.
We wish FWS the absolute best of luck in pursuing this case.
The Bigger Picture
Genspect’s first-ever conference was a tremendous success.
Held over three days in Killarney, Ireland, the conference involved experts from many different fields - scientists, researchers, sociologists, psychologists, psychotherapists, lawyers, educators, feminists, trans people and detransitioners - and a packed programme which challenged the evidence base for gender medicine and discussed the damage caused by gender identity ideology.
Glinner Of Hope
Don’t miss Our Graham being brilliant on the Here’s How podcast this week.
And being hilarious on GB News’ Headliners show.
Women are clapping back and it's loud and unequivocal. They can't stop us. The PM is on board, say what you like about him or the Tories, I know where I put all my X's on my ballot sheets for the election later this week. This is an existential fight, not only for women and children, but for humanity and society. Good in Martina putting the toddler in his place, and Riley Gaines, the very best of luck to her. Things are hotting up on both sides of the pond. I do feel a sense of joy and a change in the air. Thank you for all the excellent news. Shame about the Edinburgh Fringe deplatforming people, though. They're a lost cause.
Oh yes a very good news update. Thanks JL needed this one
