Never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for the Daily Mail.

I'm the same, Nancy. Once a Guardian subscriber, now applauding The Times & The Telegraph etc. Strange days indeed.

It does make me think twice, how I am frequently going to news resources that I wouldn't have ordinarily gone to in the past. Another one is GB News. It really ought to be called GB Opinions. Thankfully the Telegraph and the Times are also increasing their coverage.

I never thought I would either, in so many other ways I don't, but on this I do. I have to, and that the information is being put there by the DM is more important than what its motives are. I hope it's overwhelmingly about concern for the rights and freedoms of women, girls, but even if there are other less laudable incentives, people need this information. Consistent exposure is the only way the misogynistic excesses of gender identity ideology are going to be understood in terms of the actual real life consequences for women. Because some people aren't aware, and I think the impact it makes on women's sports is a good way to highlight that, leading to a broader understanding.

And one from our side (I think most of us here are Prog/Lib/Left): the Observer with special shout to the very wonderful Sonia Sodha. I reckon the first P/L/L daily to go GC will clean up, just like the first P/L/L political party to go GC. There are plenty of high quality GC writers putting out some excellent work, but it would be great to see them at one high profile outfit with investigative reporters on the team as well. Not sure how the NS has done, it was staying neutral, though I have a sub to it I haven't had much time to go there. The New European I think would lean GC, but Woo is a bit off their radar. I'm still really disappointed at Byline Times though, I had real hopes for that.

Good news indeed after some really depressing news in your bad news update. I love that our female sports women are not so easily oppressed as those poor swimmers in the States. I like the fact that the government has listened to the warnings about conversion therapy and I am cock-a-hoop that the TRA bodies have thrown their toys out of the pram and caused the cancellation of their conference. I was planning to protest at this conference so that saves me a trip. If the government can't cancel the booking of the facilities, perhaps they can offer them up to women's groups. I am sure we could rustle up a great conference on women and children's rights.

Loving the tweets from terf island about all the Labour and Lib Dem canvasser encounters. Democratic Party canvassers are never going to know what hit them either.

They'll just tell you you're right-wing and the Democrats are better off without you. Besides, they love to lose.

That was a joy to read. Stonewall and the Good Law project getting slapped down is great. Imagine being so convinced that you're the sole arbiters of tolerance and inclusivity, that you'd try to discredit the organisation responsible for basic human rights?

But then what cult never did bad things while at the same time believing they were good people? And not just good people, but so good that they have to teach everyone else how to be good?

Whatever - they got their arses handed to them, so happy days!

A great start into the day. Much obliged for announcing Jane Clare Jones' book. Ordered a copy a right away.

Had I not gotten engaged in the debate about transactivism I very likely never would have learned about her. Which is through no fault of hers, of course. Most scholars and thinkers remain unknown to a wider public. This particularly goes for those who do some serious work rather than flood television with fashionable platitudes.

I got my rather beautiful acknowledgement postcard a couple of days ago. I'm ridiculously excited about it, especially since my son saw it today and wants it on his wall!

Just seen the PM on Sky news! OMG - he spoke about conversion therapy, not allowing men in women's sports and female only spaces. Everything we've been waiting to hear. Hot on the heels of Damian Green on R4 PM yesterday, it looks like the tide is turning. Will be interesting to see how Labour,in Dems, Greens and SNP respond, now they've backed themselves into a corner. This is exactly what those of us on the left said would happen - now the Tories look like the only adults in the room and will clean up at the local elections.

Thanks as always for the pick-me-up, JL! It looks like sport will finally peak people en masse. I know it's been said a lot, but I finally feel like the tide is turning. More people are realising that the Emporer is indeed naked, and it's not a pretty sight.

Given Simon Edge's excellent satirical book it's funny that Colm O'Gorman is going to an organisation with Global in its title 😄

Simon went into my list of favourite authors after "The End of the World is Flat" led seamlessly into all his other books. He is a very clever author!

Dr Jane Clare Jones is indeed wise and is the of the best voices I’ve been introduced to through this movement. I also enjoyed Glinner’s YouTube interviews with her.

Poor 'Emily' Bridges, still looks like a bloke but now wearing a girly blouse. Convinces no one. Anyone remember some aeons-old TV sitcom with Hilda Baker? One of her standard insults for a man was "yer big girls' blouse". I think it's time to resurrect that expression for ones such as 'Emily'.

Brings to mind the late lamented Television Without Pity website's reviews of "The Sopranos". Protagonist Tony Soprano was a big beefy guy, so when his cousin-- also named Tony-- joined the cast, in the person of byword-for-skinny actor Steve Buscemi, TWP promptly dubbed the character "Diet Tony".

E. Bridges is Diet Benny. In drag that's just about as convincing.
