I've been a lifelong 'leftie' as are many who are opposed to gender ideology.
This issue has made me think a lot about power and control, government and politics and how we can ensure public institutions serve the public good.
It's challenged many of my own default positions on a great many things - not always a comfortable experience!
Unfortunately our political system encourages polarised attitudes and tribalism which makes it easy for people to blindly adopt positions and easy for the political parties to ignore complexity or anything which they don't immediately recognise as having a political impact.
I agree with you that we have to see the next GE as one of our best opportunities to raise the issue and influence what happens afterwards.
We need to up the quality of the conversations though - pick some pivotal and fundamental points rather than repeatedly asking whether women can have a penis.
My preferred approach road starts definitely with children , then I think it's a toss up between prisons and sport? And need to be measured and not go on and on and on - just thinking of myself here! - need to let others have their sixpennorth.
I agree it is NOT a Left v Right issue. This is an emergency- we need to work with other people to oppose the madness. So if those others don't agree with us on other political issues, well, never mind
Thanks Ms Terfin for the reminder. just signed. I’m ashamed to say that i have friends that i’ve still not had this discussion with because it would just lead to the end of a 30 year friendship. I’ve hinted but never committed to a full discussion because that would be it, and it would just serve to split the group. How pathetic is that? I’ve been vocal to school leaders and politicians and newspapers, and bbc etc. But can’t campaign in my own back yard. Pathetic. Sorry. I guess i’m a hypocrite.
But keep alert - sometimes the perfect opportunity comes along and you can open the conversation without it being controversial or confrontational .Though be prepared for baby steps thereafter!
It's easier one to one rather than in a group and it's different for everyone - I made one person think again by giving them JK Rowling's essay and her 'Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like.' tweet.
'Katie Dolatowski' did it for someone else, followed by SkirtGoSpinny's 'How to be a woman: wrong answers only'.
Thank you Woman on the edge. It did come up maybe 18 months ago and some one asked about me after is …… still obsessed with the trans thing? Which i’m not bothered about. But i can’t understand why people don’t feel an urgency to make sure children are having the best most informed health care and the attack on women’s and girl’s rights? How are people not obsessed by this. Arty puts it beautifully in the mess podcast most recently. I don’t even know if its called a podcast. But you know what i mean.
Ah yes the "obsessed" slur. I suspect many of us are familiar with that one!
I've learned that it's best to just pick one thing, eg how unfairly JKR has been treated or do they think parents should be able to see RHSE lesson plans and resources, and not try to mention every aspect of it. I think people get overwhelmed if you try to show them the whole picture.
I agree with you though - how on earth can people NOT be seriously concerned about every aspect of this?
I agree W on the Edge, I’d done all that and only sent it to people with whom I’d had ‘starter’ conversations, expecting them to do some of their own digging. It’s concerning if none of them could be bothered to investigate.
Don't be discouraged when it seems as though your efforts fall on stony ground; you never know when one of those people will see or hear or encounter something else and suddenly join the dots because of what you told them 2 years before.
And be pragmatic - don't underestimate the effects of apathy - a third of the population can't even be bothered to vote in general elections and Welsh Labour's lunacy is enabled by under 47% turnout!
A good 'in' at the moment is the upcoming UK general election. On two social occasions with friends recently it has come up and presented me with the opportunity to explain exactly why I won't be voting Labour ( albeit previously being a Labour voter).
So far the 'results' are:
1. One woman friend was already a (secret - now no longer secret) raging Terf 😎 I had suspected it already
Thanks JL as always, we so need these. Goodness is this nightmare nearly over yet. After these posts it feels like the end is in sight but then we get the awful posts and we all come crashing down. Its got to be over soon. How long will people just ignore whats happening. Frustrating and upsetting.
Just think of how much progress we've made over the last few years. I really do feel like the tide is turning. We need to stay strong and hopeful, CB. Hang in there! 😊
Well done to the wonderful Countess fighting back against the madness in Ireland. I did a piece in my last update on the National Women's Council Ireland who in 2018 allowed TIMs onto their board. Irish Terfs normally refer to them as the National Willy Council 😂
Loudon County is, of course, where a trans identifying boy previously sexually assaulted a girl in a girls' toilet and the school tried to sweep it all under the carpet. I have previously described this kind of pupils' protest as Rapid Onset Terfing 😎
It’s doubly shocking that people in London County are still pursuing the insanity even after that assault. You’d think they’d at least be afraid of being sued if there were more assaults.
Thank you once again, JL, especially for the story of the school pupils' walk-out; let's hope it will catch on and Loudoun County will be forced to listen to sense.
Great stuff there, thank you so much. Lifted my depressed spirits. Isn't Mr Menno something else? So talented and entertaining. "I see a man" has stuck in my head and I'm singing it all the time. Wonderful. Again, thank you so, so much.
Thank you, JL. Much needed good news indeed. I still struggle to get my head around the fact that we are in this shituation and having these conversations and struggles.
I'm watching how long my stickers stay up in "woke" Brooklyn. I suggest to JL and Graham to put out a call for videos like this, to increase all messaging through stickers, friend group conversations and media posts. We must get the word out that we, the majority, do not believe in "sex change."
you should be able to just click on the link below or above and it takes you there. You don’t have to turn up to the site with a piece of paper and squint at the paper and re write it out again in the you tube search bar!
https://declarationforbiologicalreality.org/
I’m posting a reminder for people to sign the extremely important Declaration for Biological Reality.
Thanks JL for cheering me up. I sent the declaration to a number of my friends and acquaintances… not one of them has replied.
Signed - thanks for posting :-)
I emailed it to a friend who I converted to the cause recently.
I got an email back saying he was worried that the Reclaim Party had signed as he thought it would put some people off signing.
I am getting so fed up with purity spiral, black v white tribalism.
FFS! What they’re saying is let’s carry on allowing children to be mutilated because I can’t stand alongside people with whom I disagree.
You should have heard my rant!
When I'd calmed down I did manage to distill it down to "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good"!
WomanOnTheEdge
I think not a Left or Right issue - doesn't matter which side of the divide you are on
Dusty
I entirely agree Dusty!

I don't think you're alone in this.
I haven't raised it with everyone either.

The 'obsessed' slur
50% of the population are women
There are lots of children
Obsessed?
Dusty
Everyone should be obsessed.
No you’re not, it took all my courage to send it to some of my oldest friends.
Well done Ms Terfin. You may be retired for educating children, but you havent stopped loving them and wanting to protect them.
2. Four friends peaked 😎
3. One on the fence
4. Two remained silent
I don't know how many points this gets me?
Dusty
Lots 😁
I reckon that's a gold star for you!
Gosh a Terf Gold Star 😎
Much sought after 😎
Dusty
Not pathetic , just careful
Signed, and forwarded to others.
Well done, TT I have signed and posted about it 😎
Dusty

I only know what I read elsewhere ?!
Some great news, thank you so much, we needed that after the news from Scotland and Wales.
Mr Menno, as always, does not disappoint.
He's a legend! 😊
I love that the Telegraph thinks it's readers need to be told how to make videos full screen. Made me chuckle.
