Another bumper edition of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Leaving Them Kids Alone in Louisiana
Louisiana’s law-makers have voted to override governor John Bel Edwards’ veto on a bill that will ban ‘sex reassignment’ medical treatment for minors.
The state House of Representatives voted 75-23 to override Edwards’ veto and reinstate House Bill 648, the ‘Stop Harming Our Kids Act’, which could prohibit Louisiana clinicians from prescribing hormones and puberty blockers to and performing so-called ‘gender-reassignment’ surgeries on under-18s.
The bill will now progress to the Senate.
Huge congratulations are due to courageous detransitioner, Chloe Cole, who has been fighting to protect gender-confused children for over a year.
The Sunlight Is Flooding In
Prisha Mosley, another brave detransitioner, is taking legal action against the clinical team which fast-tracked her into medicalisation when she was just seventeen.
“She is just the latest detransitioner to take legal action against her doctors, in lawsuits that could prove pivotal in America's heated debate about transgender rights and medical procedures, especially those on children.”
While their stories are heartbreaking, the voices of detransitioners are growing louder and louder and more difficult to ignore. Furthermore, they are hitting the USA where it really hurts - right in the litigation.
For The Reading List
Out next month and published by Routledge, ‘Sex and Gender: A Contemporary Reader’, is an important new book about the relationship between sex, gender and gender identity.
It is edited by Professor Selina Todd and Professor Alice Sullivan. The book’s 15 chapters are all original contributions and their authors are leading experts in their fields, drawn from the sciences, social sciences, humanities, biology, neuroscience, medicine, law, sociology and English literature.
Trigger Snappy
Don’t miss the brilliant Sharron Davies MBE on the Triggernometry podcast.
“How is everybody so scared when not a single piece of science backs up the inclusion of anyone that’s gone through male puberty into women’s sport as being fair.”
Re-Joyce In The USA
The redoubtable Helen Joyce appeared on Megyn Kelly’s Show this week and told America some cold hard facts.
“If have or ever had a penis, you are not a woman.”
How NOT To Do It
This week the Stonewall Chair, Iain Anderson, was interviewed by Beth Rigby for Sky News. She questioned his position regarding trans activism’s effect on women’s sex-based rights. The result was simultaneously toe-curling and hilarious.
No wonder the gender zealots have screamed “No debate!” for so long. Ask them to defend their position and they collapse quicker than a sand castle in a hurricane.
Do enjoy the brilliant James Dreyfus (quite rightly) taking the rise out of Anderson’s car crash interview with this hilarious impersonation.
F**k Around, Find Out
Trans activism’s own Hanniball Lecter is back behind bars.
Sarah Jane Baker appeared in court this week and was remanded in custody - in a men’s prison, where he belongs.
How Souper!
Kellie Jay Keen is heading back to New Zealand in September and will be holding a Let Women Speak rally in Auckland. She spoke to Sean Plunket on The Platform about her plans.
Her visit will coincide with a court appearance on 20th September by Eli Rubashkyn, the man facing common assault charges arising from the LWS event in March.
And in other news from New Zealand, the actions of the police at the Let Women Speak event in Auckland are to be investigated.
Almost 25,000 people signed a public letter protesting the actions of the police and now the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) is to conduct a review into the police response at that rally.
Flushed With Success
A little story proving what can be achieved when we raise our voices together against gender-addled nonsense. Liverpool Women’s Hospital had repurposed a former female-only toilet, turning it into an ‘all gender’ (ie mixed sex) facility.
When Twitter user, @TheRealPocus, commented on this issue, her tweet had 1.5 million views and was retweeted thousands of times.
In response to the outpouring of criticism, Liverpool Women’s Hospital has decided to reinstate the women’s single-sex toilet and, instead, will move the ‘gender neutral’ loo into the men’s facility.
Well done, everyone. That’s people power.
Watched an interaction of a couple of trans ppl with regular folks who couldn’t wrap their head around it. These ppl were insistent that the medical ppl had told them they changed their sex. The doctor said that I’m female now - one stated. If medical professionals are telling ppl these lies what the fuck is going to happen when they realise they aren’t?
Wooohooo! Thank you JL, thank you, thank you :-)
