I think it is now fair to say that sport will be the key to peaking a hell of a lot of people in general.

But sadly, how many women will miss out on a spot on a team, or a podium, and how many will be told to 'shut up and accept it'. And how many will feel unwelcome or even unsafe in their own sports clubs and teams and changing rooms. And how many will feel that they must take a stand and not compete or even leave the sport - before things change for their benefit and not the males'?

Absolutely right, Mole. Sport really is bringing home the lunacy of gender ideology. Perhaps its' so visual - hulking great blokes towering over much smaller and slighter women - the reality is inescapable. it's a pity the incredible threat to women's safety and hard-won rights wasn't enough to make people think twice. But it was ever thus.

I hope I do not sound crude or base here, but I am sure you will see what I am driving at when I say that in athletics - swimming, rugby, sprinting for example, the bodies are laid bare - to varying degrees. We see the differences in heights and builds for sure, but also the muscle size and sheer 'visible power' of the male athlete in comparison. (With respect, of course - you know what I mean) And it is clear visual information like this that most will take in and start shouting at their TVs... 'IT'S NOT RIGHT'!

Which is of course, a simplistic and perhaps shallow 'methodology', but one which will be effective in the populace, I think.

Yes, there was a tweet not so long ago from some trans idiot saying women should organise their own sport categories if they don't want trans. I think this one's back to front. I am however hopeful that the Bridges too far into women cycling might actually be a start.

Oh, and Ron de Santis (the Guardian don't like it at all) https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/mar/23/ron-desantis-lia-thomas-trans-swimmer-ncaa-title-florida

To be fair, Labour MP Fiona Oluyinka Onasanya for Peterborough ended up with a criminal conviction for perverting the course of justice. She spent 3 months in prison.

Labour expelled her from the party, but the rules are that she could STILL remain as MP, though now would be viewed as an independent.

Only the constituents can remove a sitting MP.

As it happened, Peterborough did do just that. A Recall was permitted which only required 10% of the electorate of Peterborough to sign it (over 26% signed it). This then rendered the the Peterborough seat vacant and that triggered a by-election. However, Fiona was still able to stand in the by-election if she wished. Initially it looked like she would but then last minute decided not to stand. Previous labour candidate Lisa Forbes stood and won the by-election.

It would be nice for the Conservatives to expel Wallis from he party but he would still be MP unless Bridgend did a recall. That takes time and effort to organise.

What would be better is that if any sitting MP has a criminal conviction or is involved in behaviour, or anything that brings Parliament into disrepute, it is an automatic expulsion from party AND the seat is rendered vacant triggering a by-election, which that MP is NOT permitted to stand.

We all know that MPs won't put that kind of legislation/rules in place though.

Hi Felicity. Many thanks for this considered comment. You are right to mention that instance actually, I do remember it. I also agree, of course, with what you say.

My comment was simply a generalised, uninformed rant - I fully admit!

In terms of politics, I am afraid I tend towards a marxian view.

(That isn't true Marxism by the way)

It seems, according to Cashman, his 'bravery', 'courage' and 'honesty' is going to make things better for everyone when his 'searing leadership' qualities are seen and enjoyed by everyone, will obscure his manifest dishonesty and deeply dodgy past. It never existed, it didn't happen.

Have Cashman and co. lost their minds? Are they really so deluded? Or do they simply detest women so much that anything, from any source which undermines and damages them and diminishes their rights and freedoms, is a good thing? These vile men and any women who conspire with them and parrot their bullshit are utterly contemptible.

Graham! I just wanted to say thank you. I'm a young athlete in a sport where sex makes the largest possible difference. I have always been aware that a novice male can do in one month, what took me years of training for hours a day. I am competitive in my sport, but as there is little funding or wider public interest, I am myself spending tens of thousands a year from my 9-5 to train, travel to competitions, cover the cost of federation fees and anti-doping tests etc. (Yes, we have to cover those costs themselves). Via my use of social media, where I have shared my love of my sport, I have attracted other women in and helped them get involved; whether by lending them competition kit, running free group training sessions, inviting them to come train with me, volunteering at competitions in various capacities...

The point I am making is this: Women's sport is very important for me. It is the way in which I built trust in my body and reclaimed my sense of self after sexual abuse, and also the way in which I have connected with many other women.

This past year, I have been deeply depressed and frustrated over the possibility that a trans athlete could have taken one of the spots available for international competition. To see an athlete who has not put in any of the time or work that others have immediately fly up the rankings; it has been quite shocking. Although I still would probably have beaten them in competition, I could not in good conscience stand on a podium where I was 1st and they 2nd, taking the last international qualification spot, and give credibility to the idea that that was a fair match for whichever woman placed 3rd.

I have struggled with this, with friends arguing that my desire for fair sport is not as important as inclusivity, and that I am 'obsessed' with this. (You will note that one commonality with ALL elite athletes is that they are obsessed with their sport) I realised that nobody else should be expected to care as much about my sport as I do, but I was disheartened by the voices of men and women implying that women's sports is not serious or valuable at all and we should stop taking it so seriously.

It has really been a godsend finding voices like your own, which don't apologise or make me feel I am some sort of villain for continuing to send out research papers and demand decisions from sports federations. And it has been a tough 6 months, but it looks like thanks to my persistence, the rulings will be on the side of biological women for 2022 at least.

So. Thank you. Your words make a difference. I hope I will not have to tell my own daughters in 10 years that they have to 'make space' in sports and that they do not have a right to their own changing rooms.

I am thankful that my boyfriend is as angry as I am that my accomplishments in sport are being threatened and eroded. I am thankful that I have been able to keep most of my close friends whilst staying true to my values. I am thankful that I am living in a country and line of work where speaking out is unlikely to lose me my job and the nice salary that supports my sporting activities. I know you have not been so fortunate. So thank you.

To give Jamie Wallis his due (or as he wants to be known from now on - Jamie Wallis), at least those mothers who brag about having "no boring cis kids" will have to find a new angle. When a suited-and-booted member of Parliament is "trans" (or wants to be, or whatever), your kids are no longer as "interesting" as you need them to be.

Of course they could always stop treating their kids as social media props and find themselves a hobby. Just a thought.

Jamie Wallis was 'diagnosed'? Yet here in Scotland we're told disphoria is not a medical condition, nor is it mental condition. So how on earth can it be diagnosed & by whom? I realise my quest for reason, logic, consistency is in vain, but these instances still jar. As for Women's Equality party, I wrote about a year ago seeking clarity on their position. After long, long delay they stated their position was under review. Since then: silence. But their fawning tweet speaks volumes...

So glad that people complaining about the BBC's woke, woman-erasing language in an article on endometriosos, no less, caused the BEEB to redact said piece so that it reflected reality and respected adult human females. Furious, however, that Twitter banned Milli Hill for, very reasonably, discussing the fact that swimmer Lia Thomas is male. As a woman who was banned from Twitter for saying that Rachel Levine is a man, Hill's ban, even less deserved than my own, makes my blood boil. Is anyone anywhere keeping a list on people banned from Twitter for stating common sense GC facts? There should be such a list...would like to support such a list, if it exists.

And I hope it might show a man taking a role meant and advertised for a woman to be the head of a rape crisis centre in a clearer light.

What legitimate aim were they hoping to achieve? Shutting all women up? Stopping us from accessing services and support when traumatised? Prioritising men over women? Telling us we are all bigots who need to be re-educated was a nice touch. It looks like the EHRC are on a collision course with the SNP and Greens.

It's to do with language. They don't want "male" and "female" to relate to biology/sex any more, but to gender. There was even a transwoman claiming he was actually a "cis" woman, on the grounds that he was a real woman!!! It's absurd. Soon they'll be saying there is no such thing as transitioning, because they reject the idea they were ever the opposite sex/gender to the one they claim.
