A Week in the War on Women: Monday 4th September - Sunday 10th September GOOD NEWS SUPPLEMENT
Another jam-packed edition of good news from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Now Isn’t This Just Lovely?
This week best-selling author, John Boyne, made a heartfelt, heartwarming and very public apology to Our Graham for his previous harsh words.
“Graham, without equivocation, without excuses, and without evasion: you were right, I was wrong, and I apologise.”
This generated some very positive media attention.
The Daily Mail wrote, “Irish novelist John Boyne appears to have buried the hatchet with anti-gender ideology campaigner Graham Linehan and praised the latter's efforts to support women and children as well as same-sex attracted people”.
Writing in The Telegraph, Ella Whelan so very rightly proclaimed, “Graham Linehan deserves his vindication”.
She continued, “Apologies like Boyne’s matter because they prove that chinks of light are being let in to what was previously a sealed-off area of debate”.
Deserving Of Respect
A woman dismissed by her employer for supposedly ‘transphobic’ comments has received an apology and substantial damages ahead of her tribunal clearing.
Editor, Sybil Ruth, was dropped by Cornerstones Literary Consultancy after she responded to a post on Twitter with the comment, “I do believe that people should be allowed to wear what they want etc etc… But what blows my mind is the idea that with heavy five o’clock shadow, a perm and lippy and a bag with gold chains = woman”.
Supported by the Free Speech Union, Ruth took legal action against Cornerstones and her employment tribunal was due to be heard later this month. However, Cornerstones have settled out of court, publicly apologising to Ruth and making a compensation payment described as ‘substantial’.
Karolien Celie, legal officer at the Free Speech Union, commented, “This outcome is a victory not just for Sibyl but for all gender critical feminists - it serves as an important reminder to businesses to treat all staff, no matter their age or beliefs, fairly and with respect”.
Uniting In The States
This week The Economist reported on a seemingly unlikely alliance of people determined to protect Californian children from the harms of gender ideology.
The article focuses on the growing pushback against gender ideology in California - particularly in the state’s schools - which has created “An unusual coalition, including some Democrats, immigrants, evangelicals and gay people”.
It continues, “Americans are conflicted on trans rights. Almost all oppose discrimination. Yet a majority (and rising share) think gender is determined by sex at birth... California’s Democrats should be mindful of this before dismissing their critics as bigots.”
The Super Senator
A few weeks ago, we reported on Gerard Craughwell, an independent senator in the Irish parliament who, horrified by the medical ‘transing’ of children, has well and truly peaked.
He admitted that he ‘made a mistake’ over the 2015 Gender Recognition Act and is now in full support of repealing it.
The Senator has continued to speak out. This week he issued a press release to the media outlets of New South Wales warning of the dangers of gender recognition legislation which is currently being discussed by the NSW government.
He then gave a shout out to this weekend’s Let Women Speak event in Dublin. “You must come out in your thousands and support this rally. We must repeal the current #GRA for you, your sisters, your daughters and mothers.”
Thank you for speaking up for women, Senator Craughwell. Keep raising your voice.
Carry On Up The Charts
When Kids Say They’re Trans is a vital newly published book for the parents of gender-confused children. Despite the best efforts of trans activists leaving one star bogus reviews, the book is already an Amazon bestseller.
Huge congratulations to authors Stella O’Malley, Lisa Marchiano and Sasha Ayad.
Barnes Storming
And speaking of books, Hannah Barnes’ ‘Time to Think’, which details the scandal of the Tavistock gender clinic, has made the long list of the 2023 Baillie Gifford Prize, the UK's leading annual prize for non-fiction.
Many congratulations and best of luck, Hannah!
Congrats to Sybil Ruth and Hannah Barnes.
Fantastic news from California.
Absolutely amazing from Gerard Caughwell.
And totally wonderful to see the Daily Mail call Graham an anti gender ideology campaigner.
Thanks JL for a 🎉 moment amongst all the gloom.
Great stuff, JL, particularly Boyne’s apology to Graham. As the horrors of trans ideology are revealed more and more, people are wakening up to its dangers.
