I appreciate that my weekly War on Women round-ups can be a bit demoralising and gloomy sometimes. It seems that every day we lose another piece of precious territory to the unstoppable invading force that is gender identity ideology.
But I only report the bad news. And I don’t want those headlines to overshadow all of the gains and progress being made. We are fighting back and we are gaining ground. Here are just some of the stories from the past week to demonstrate what headway we’re making.
New Head Of EHRC Stands Up For Women’s Rights
Baroness Falkner of Margravine is the incoming chairwoman of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission. In her first interview since taking up this role she has said that women must have the right to question transgender ideology without being abused, stigmatised or risking losing their livelihood.
She added that it was ‘entirely reasonable’ for people to challenge the biological status of transwomen.
“Someone can believe that people who self identify as a different sex are not the different sex that they self identify. A lot of people would find this an entirely reasonable belief.”
Legal Authorities Are Using Sex Over Gender
Both the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board are changing their approach to recording the sex and gender identity of those they regulate.
In its last biennial survey of the profession’s diversity in 2019, the SRA prioritised asking solicitors which gender they identified with rather than making the initial question about their sex. In this year’s survey the first question is simply ‘What is your sex?’. The survey then allows respondents to tick ‘male’, ‘female’, ‘other preferred description’ and ‘prefer not to say’.
The SRA said it changed the wording after considering the research undertaken by the Office for National Statistics in preparation for the 2021 census and ‘listening to a range of voices on the matter’.
Ofsted Are To Investigate School Over Breast-Binding Advice
Earlier this month we reported on Nonsuch High School at which a student newsletter had provided girls with advice on breast-binding and surgery.
Ofsted has confirmed that, following complaints from parents, it will be investigating this matter.
Single Sex Toilets To Be Installed In All New Public Buildings
Following a review last year November, Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick, is going to amend building regulations and planning guidance to ensure separate single sex bathroom facilities are installed in new buildings or those being developed.
Buildings which already have ‘gender neutral’ toilets lavatories may have to make alterations to ensure the privacy of the all the occupants.
The new regulations will apply to buildings such as offices, shops and entertainment venues, as well as publicly funded buildings such as hospitals.
A source close to Jenrick said, “It’s a necessity for women to have access to their own provision of toilets, but too often separate sex toilets are being removed by stealth - causing great distress… These changes will help to maintain safeguards that protect women and the proper provision of separate toilets, which has long been a regulatory requirement, will be retained and improved.”
Double Celebration For JK Rowling
Despite endless accusations of transphobia and actual violence, JK Rowling had two reasons to celebrate this week.
Firstly, her latest children’s book, The Ickabog, sold in such high numbers she was able to donate a six figure sum to charity.
Secondly, her novel, Troubled Blood, won the Crime Fiction Book of the Year.
MPs Who Aren’t Afraid To Stand Up For Women & Girls
Tonia Antoniazzi, MP for Gower, made this blistering speech on the need for disaggregating data by biological sex, especially where violent crime is concerned.
Despite being a constant target for trans activists because she dares to speak up for women’s sex based rights, Rosie Duffield has been re-elected as the Chair of the Women’s Parliamentary Labour Party.
University Of Essex Upholds Free Speech & Stonewall Get An Arse-Kicking
Last year the University of Essex ‘disinvited’ two feminist speakers, Professors Jo Phoenix and Rosa Freeman, amid allegations allegations of transphobia and ‘hate speech’.
On Tuesday the university offered both women a public apology and released the independent review commissioned to report on their cancellation.
This report is scathing about the university’s relationship with Stonewall. It points out examples of policy documents which, under Stonewall’s influence, misrepresent the Equality Act 2010 and hate crime legislation.
“The policy states the law as Stonewall would prefer it to be, rather than the law as it is.”
“If the University considers it appropriate to continue its relationship with Stonewall, it should devise a strategy for countering the drawbacks and potential illegalities"
It’s really not all bad news.
In recent years some incredible campaign and activist groups have formed and they are doing brilliant work. De-transitioners are coming together to tell their stories, the LGB Alliance has been granted charitable status and women of all political hues are joining up to fight the scourge of gender ideology. (Check out the recently formed Lesbian Labour, for example.)
We may not win every battle, but we are winning the war.
Vive la résistance!
Well this was a refreshing read. The tide is definitely turning.
Thank you JL for continuing to wade through the awful shit - which I often read with my jaw on the floor - and collating it for us. It can't be easy and at times it must feel utterly demoralising (it certainly feels like that to read). But lovely to have some positive news.
Vive la resistance <3
Slowly shuffling forwards, and the push-back seems to be gaining momentum. Which I guess is inevitable. People are becoming more aware, and their common sense has been unaffected by the trans movement as they have not been exposed to it so they inevitably see that not only most of it is not right (in fact that it is wrong/downright bloody crazy), but they are shocked by the extent of the take-over. Most people are terfs, they just don't realise it yet.
