An entire branch of the Green Party (Bridgwater & West Somerset's officers and active members) has gone on strike, and its secretary has resigned, because the Green Party's leadership has shown it can easily be 'hijacked' by a single issue group, in this case trans activism.
So relieved to read this. I was beginning to think the whole of the Green Party were in agreement regarding trans activism. This has provided some glimmer of hope.
Friday's award for standing up for your principles goes to the Bridgwater and West Somerset Green Party. Respectfully using chosen female name, yet the correct biological pronouns hits a sensible note - not too shouty, but firm and correct.
This is a reminder that small elections matter. Home Owner Associations, school boards, in this case, the leadership of a political party- they are vulnerable to power grabs. Years ago This American Life described how a group of very religious people took over the school board of a small town and voted to close and sell off some of the elementary schools to private, religious education groups. They did it fair and square because no one else was voting.
A biological male being (now) sole head of their women's committee should give pause to anyone with a working brain. What possible experience could Kathryn have had that would be of any use to women's concerns and issues?
The adults have arrived, thank God. I joined the Greens last year solely to vote in the Women's Group elections. Much good that did. I was going to leave in protest but now I may stay as these sterling people have turned up.
So happy to hear this. All the GP members I've known are decent, dedicated people. The Bristow fiasco (amongst others) makes a mockery of everything they stand for. Well done!
Death knell for the Green Party. Makes me glad I'm getting old and won't have to listen to the loony trans fascists much longer. This movement will be seen as a (hopefully brief) period of extremist psychopathy in our history.
Wow slamming in there! Calling that Kathryn geezer, quite correctly, "he"! This has made my flippin' day! :-D

@Angela, I agree. It would be great to see the majority get a handle back on the party to and get their priorities in order.

I don't know what 'Kathryn's' male name is so the only way I can indicate my disbelief is ' - '
This is great! Such stirring stuff!
And very interesting about how few members actually vote....
I'm guessing (hoping) that might actually change now.
I am just reading this now. Dominoes ....

Excellent statement that clearly shows the lack of any integrity in the leadership.
Let's hope it gives them food for thought but I won't hold my breath.
GOOD FOR THEM!!!
Excellent

This is cheering!

Good on them! Big round of applause. Would be nice to see the party leadership showing some common sense. Soon...
