Jordan Gray, from the first second that I laid eyes and ears on him, struck me as a drag queen. The loudness, the aggressiveness, the over-the-top-ness. It all fairly shouted I AM A MAN IN DRAG. (Not that women are by nature quiet, demure little things, of course; it's just the role that gender-poison tends to force on us.) Why would anyone mistake that sort of behavior/presentation for being a woman? Why, it's downright MANLY.
In fact, that's what strikes me about this supposed "changing gender" business: that it does nothing of the kind. People continue to act, and be treated, according to their traditional (i.e., sex-based) gender role. For men, all that happens, I think, is that the one thing hitherto forbidden to them-- anything gendered "female"-- is now allowed. It's become part of male privilege, in other words. So "trans" = male privilege with the brakes off. Where men can not only tell us who we are-- of course they've always done that-- but tell us that we're only pale shadows of the REAL women: them.

I saw Elton live in Auckland last year and in that show his message was of acceptance of the trans movement but a request to give the rest of us time to adjust to the new normal rather than all the hate.
