(Edit: Alison wasn't fired, I've corrected this)

Nothing infuriates me more than a female feeling sorry for a vile male TRA who goes out of his way to get women banned and deplatformed etc - and using 'she'?? where has #BeingKind got us? Fuck off luv..

The narcissism in TRAs trying to take over mammograms is outstanding. They know no bounds.

Going slightly off topic here but just watched Afterlife season 2 which was brilliant (mostly). The final episode has a piece about a 50 year old man identifying as an 8 year old girl and then a conversation between Lenny and Tony about what happened to all the transvestites and transsexuals. I don't recall a twitter storm on this when it first aired but maybe I missed it? Gervais is clearly on board with the GC agenda from his Caitlyn Jenner jokes and support for J K Rowling - what's his secret for not being cancelled?

Expand full comment

Gervais can't be cancelled cause he's so successful but also so much of his comedy takes the piss out of himself - that is a further shield from attack

Expand full comment

Agreed. He's - thankfully - too much for the little shits to take on and they know it. The Office and Extras (which I love) are chock full of one-liners worthy of the Cancel Culture treatment.

If, however, his name was JK Gervais (😉) that would be a different story.

At the risk of being pedantic Stonewall didn't get Allison fired. An employee of Stonewall with no knowledge of employment law and no concept of the limitations of their actual entitlement to influence anyone's employment sent a very stupid and unjustifiable letter to Chambers. The Chambers compounded that stupidity by announcing an investigation ON TWITTER. Allison has suffered a detriment because of this mind-blowing overreach by some people high on their unfounded sense of importance and relevance but she didn't lose her job. I think accuracy is important.

As you well know in precarious and freelance work it is easy for people to stop engaging you if they don't like you for any spurious and irrational reason, and I don't underestimate how destabalising that is, I know from experience. But in a permanent job with employment rights its actually very hard to exit someone just because you don't like them, its expensive and time consuming and employers avoid doing this unless a relationship has irretrievably broken down and the person wanting you out is on balance more value than you are. A tough message, I realise. I think its a good idea to be careful about overstating the risk to people in "normal" jobs as it has the unintended consequence of making people afraid. The well known names that have experienced a severe detriment are invariably those without full employment rights. I don't say that to minimise their experience, only to put it into perspective.

But yes, the morals of an inexperienced charity worker that leads them to believe they have superiority over anyone's employment are completely without a compass.

I yield to your knowledge but Stonewall are bad news. Period.

That numpty has done us all a favour in the long run. The level of stupidity it takes to try to get a barrister fired is astounding. It's now well and truly showing in Court to Stonewall that they never have and never will be again entitled to behave like this.

Its weird how some people decide they're the authority and start to police people's speech. Same thing happened with the Stop Brexit campaign, a certain group on twitter decided they were the ones to set the moral tone (thanks James Felton et al). They got a lot of push back but managed to alienate and upset a lot of people and became vindictive and bullying. We're all capable of making our own moral decisions and don't need anyone to tone police us.

And A.C Grayling is STILL trying to stop Brexit! D'oh! 😂😂😂

"Tread carefully." Is that a warning? A threat? Tread carefully or what exactly, Anastasia? And for the record, the group of people who are safest from breast cancer are TIMs. Not so much bc they're male, but bc they can't keep their freakin hands off of themselves. Have you ever read what TIMs say when they talk about their moobs? I'm surprised they have the time to tweet at all, what with their hands being full. They've got early detection via self-exam covered handily.

Isn't it just so very lovely what good allies some gay men like Aidan are to the likes of Katy? Never transmen, mind. Just the Katies. Wonder why 🤔. Could it be because of same-sex attraction, however the object of their desire "identifies"/dresses? Bit of a gotcha Katy-cock-outta-the-bag if you ask me 😂🤣😂🤣😂

How do you dehumanise someone who struggles to be human in the first place? I guess narcissism counts as a human trait. 🙄

Absolutely right!

Yay! Dehumanised! Their go-to Holocaust connotation. Which, of course, is exactly the fucking point.

They must think we've got shit-for-brains if we can't sniff out their agenda.

What a powerful post! Thank you so much--I am sharing widely! Your voice is so needed. Thank you for being the right person at the right time to make a difference!

Uneasy with this take, myself. I liked the story you shared. It was right to share it, and it told no lies. But ... we can't throw off all accountability ourselves, just because the enemy already has.

This case didn't cross a line, to my eye. But we should all agree there are lines we never cross, particularly when it comes to individuals who may be struggling, mentally.

I agree with you Graham. The Moral Event Horizon passed a long damned time ago. I feel for the women that I know that has lost their breasts to cancer. I feel for the friends that have died or lost loved one to breast cancer. Men being "validated" by the possibility of cancer just pisses me off. They can piss off, over the horizon and keep going.
