I genuinely think this is a huge part of the problem People think we’re talking about actual trans people rather than cross-dressers and fetishists. Nothing wrong with being either of those latter groups, but we shouldn’t be forming policy around them that also affects the rights of women and children.

Where I live, trans people had to have had SRS (aka "confirmatory surgery") in order to have their gender marker changed legally until ~2013, and most still assume that's what's referred to by the umbrella term "trans". TRAs are certainly not in the habit of disabusing anyone of this notion.

It blows my mind that anyone who espouses violence is welcome on any statutory body. Would it be considered okay for a member of any other extremist group to sit on a university board?
