BMA Climbs Down
The British Medical Association has reversed its previous policy of opposing the implementation of the Cass Review findings.
In July, BMA Council members voted to ‘publicly disavow’ The Cass Report.
There has now been an about-turn on this policy. As reported by Hannah Barnes in The New Statesman, the BMA’s council members voted earlier this week to “Retain a neutral position on the recommendations of the Cass Review… while a BMA task and finish group undertakes its own evaluation”.
First, Do No Harm
A coalition of US attorneys general has written to the American Academy of Paediatrics, demanding that it retract its endorsement of puberty blockers and threatening to take action if it will not.
A group of 22 state attorneys general, led by Idaho Attorney General, Raúl Labrador, wrote an eight-page letter to the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) this week. Citing the Cass Review and listing the potential harms they cause, the letter demands that the AAP retract its guidance about the prescription of puberty blockers. “The AAP continues to mislead and deceive consumers by maintaining its claim that puberty blockers are 'reversible.' That claim is misleading and deceptive and requires immediate retraction and correction”, it reads.
The correspondence warns the AAP that it could be in violation of consumer protection laws in many states by promoting the supposed safety and reversibility of puberty blockers. It asks the AAP to substantiate its claims and to address the evidence which opposes them. It also requests detailed information from the AAP regarding its communications, data and practices related to youth gender dysphoria.
The letter concludes by giving the AAP until 8th October to respond in writing and comply with the demands made.
“The AAP continues to authoritatively declare that puberty blockers are ‘reversible’. That claim is scientifically unsupported and contradicts what is medically known. And because that claim raises questions under most state consumer protection laws, it has the undersigned alarmed… Most states prohibit making statements to consumers that are false, misleading, or deceptive. Each of us takes our responsibility to protect consumers in our states very seriously.”
Sounds like the gloves are off.
Are Police Scotland Recovering Common Sense?
Men arrested for and convicted of rape and sexual assault in Scotland will no longer be able to claim a trans identity for the recording of their crimes.
We have written previously about Police Scotland’s lunatic policy of recording men accused or convicted of rape and sexual assault as women if that’s they how ‘identify’.
This week, The Times reported that “Police Scotland has committed to working with women’s groups and seeking external advice on how to deal with trans offenders, after a U-turn on a policy that allowed rapists to identify as female”.
Speaking at a meeting of the Scottish Police Authority on Thursday, Jo Farrell, Scotland’s chief constable, assured attendees that trans-identified males accused of serious sex offences will now be recorded as men. “You can only commit that crime as a man”, she said.
Farrell went on to say, “The organisation I lead is wholly committed to tackling violence against women and supporting survivors effectively”. She also promised to engage with women’s groups in addition to seeking ‘formal’ advice as part of a review procedure over the coming months.
It’s a good start.

Great to see the Scottish Police announcing some common sense policy at last. Now for the prisons. Give them their due though - They policed the Let Women Speak event in George Square Glasgow very well. Kept the usual types well away from us.- oor Graham was there!
I hope that we'll be able to report that the ballot initiative in New York state, Proposition 1 will be soundly defeated, but am concerned that "nice, kind" NY state voters will make a grave mistake and vote "yes" to change the wording in the NY state Constitution to replace sex with the word "gender." This would effectively mean that dress-wearing rapists always get named as "females" and it would mean the end of girls and women's sports. It was probably introduced by the ACLU types in response to Nassau County on Long Island outlawing male participants in girls' sports events held in county facilities. If you are a voter in NY state, vote NO on Prop 1!
