A handful of the good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Leaving Them Kids Alone
Surely the best news of the week. The government has not only renewed the ban on puberty blockers, it has extended it to Northern Ireland.
This week the government issued a statement on the sale and supply of puberty-suppressing hormones:
“The continuation of the ban applies to the sale or supply of these drugs, prescribed by private UK-registered prescribers for gender incongruence or dysphoria to under 18s not already taking them.
It also prevents the sale and supply of the medicines from prescribers registered in the European Economic Area or Switzerland for any purposes to those under 18.
The government has also extended the order to cover Northern Ireland, following agreement from the Northern Ireland Executive, to come into effect from the 27 August.”
Furthermore, the ban has been approved by Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Michelle O'Neill, and Deputy First Minister, Emma Little-Pengelly.
This rather puts the kibosh on Susie Green’s new child-catcher clinic, Anne Health, doesn’t it? The loophole she planned to exploit has now been very tightly closed. She won’t be able to peddle her gender snake oil via Northern Ireland any more.
First, Do No Harm
Scottish GPs are ‘in revolt’ over pressure on them to prescribe cross-sex hormones.
GPs in Scotland are speaking out over new plans under which they would be expected to prescribe cross-sex hormones to trans-identified patients.
One doctor told The Sunday Post, “The General Medical Council is very clear that if you prescribe based on the recommendation of another doctor or specialist, you are responsible for ensuring the prescription is needed, appropriate and within the limits of your competence. I share the concerns of many GPs in believing that transgender care should only be carried out by those with specialist skills… There are many GPs who won’t want to take on that huge responsibility and feel the service should be fully managed in secondary care.”
Without Fear Or Favour
Off duty coppers from Greater Manchester Police did not take an active part in the city’s Pride parade this year.
Reporting ahead of the Pride parade, The Manchester Evening News revealed that the city’s police force was not going to be ‘a presence’ at the event due to ‘operational reasons’. Furthermore, officers on duty at the parade were instructed not to wear any pride-related badges, flags or emblems because of the force’s ‘overall focus on professional standards’ and for the presentation of officers to ‘remain consistent’.

Our friend, Scott Newgent, has a book out.

You can buy both hardback and paperback copies on Amazon.
Thanks for the GNS, JL.
Well done Mr Streeting blocking Susie Green’s nefarious plan. Mr Streeting is the only member of the Cabinet who I trust. Now he needs to make the ban permanent. I want to see what he is going to say about the proposed Conversion Practices Bill!
Very important news re Manchester rozzers.
Scott N ‘s book sounds interesting.
Thanks re Tom Lehrer 😊

I’m having one of those weeks where it is a toss up between indulging in a panic attack and going to bed for a few days and not surfacing. Fortunately my mother didn’t have time to raise shrinking violets so I’m just gritting my teeth and getting on with life. Your Good News JL makes normal life more bearable so thanks for that. We’re getting there bit by bit.
