A jam-packed edition of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Baroness Cass in the House
Dr Hilary Cass, now Baroness Cass, took her seat in the House of Lords this week.
Baroness Cass was appointed to the House of Lords as a crossbench life peer earlier this year and she took her seat this week. We extend her our sincere congratulations.
And the Winner is…
Chief sports writer at The Telegraph, Oliver Brown, won Sports Journalist of the Year at the London Press Club Awards this week.
Oliver Brown has been prodigious in covering the infiltration of trans-identified males in women’s sport and unequivocal in his defence of female sporting categories. We are, therefore, delighted by this richly deserved LPC award and extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Oliver and his editors.
Sisters Doin’ it for Themselves
More female athletes are saying ‘No’ to males invading their sports teams.
Last week we reported on the US women’s college volleyball players who are raising their voices in protest against the San José State University team which includes a trans-identified male player called Blaire Fleming.
The Southern Utah, Boise State, Wyoming and Utah State college teams have all chosen to forfeit games they were scheduled to play rather than compete against San José. And this week the University of Nevada’s team became the fifth team to forfeit its upcoming game rather than play an unfair and unsafe match. The team’s statement read, “We demand that our right to safety and fair competition on the court be upheld. We refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes”.
The University of Nevada threw the players under the bus by issuing a statement that it ‘intends to move forward with the match as scheduled’ and that ‘the players’ decision does not represent the position of the University’. However, the state governor came out swinging for the girls on the Nevada team.
Meanwhile, the players on the Utah State team remain unequivocal in the their resolve not to play against the San José State team. This week they let their t-shirts do the talking.
It’s wholly unfair that female college volleyball players have been put in this position, but it’s so gratifying to see so many of them draw their line in the sand. All power to you, sisters.
And so it Begins…
The state of Texas is pursuing legal action against a paediatric gender doctor.
This week, Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, has filed a law suit against ‘gender activist’ paediatrician, Dr May C Lau, alleging that she violated the state’s ban on prescribing cross-sex hormones to minors.
Dr Lau is a paediatrician at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre in Dallas and has hospital privileges at the Children’s Medical Centre Dallas and the Children’s Medical Centre Plano. She is described in the law suit as ‘a radical gender activist’ and is accused of prescribing testosterone to at least 21 girls as young as 14 and of deceptively prescribing a puberty blocker injection by falsifying billing records.
The suit seeks over $1 million in civil penalties, attorney’s fees, litigation expenses, restitution and costs and to prevent Dr Lau from prescribing any further gender-related drugs to children.
