If you’ve been following my relationship with this debate for a while, you’ll know that one of the many reasons I cannot accept the phrase ‘tranwomen are women’ is because it opens the door to madness.

Someone once said it to Jane Clare Jones and she replied “How are male people female?”. To those of us who know that male people can’t be female, ‘transwomen are women’ is too destabilising for us to adopt, even as a mantra. It makes us twitch. It doesn’t make any sense and it harms women and children.

We’ll never accept it. I’m surprised anyone thought we would.

Anyway, it turns out it was all just a rehearsal for 2+2=5.
