Firstly, please enjoy this casually lacerating analysis of Stewart Lee by Simon Evans.
The indie mentality is bad enough, but attach it to a man who is so deeply envious of more successful comedians that he can’t help putting them in his act and you have a recipe for some King Lear type shenanigans. And if you don’t want people to know that Owen Jones is acting as your advisor, don’t put women like Nimco Ali on your shitlist; a WOC who campaigns against violence against women. It’s not a good look.
This is a world where sex offenders are being placed in female prisons alongside the most vulnerable women in our society; where rape victims can no longer trust women’s services; where women’s sports are being decimated in the most insulting, blatant manner…scandals tumbling in so fast we can barely keep up with them in the blog, scandals that men like Stewart—and even more disgracefully, women like Ash Sarkar—are careful to ignore.
I’ll say it loud and clear. By bending the knee to the trans flag, Stewart has failed the great moral and ethical test of his life. He has allowed his politics to turn him into an uninformed, partisan hack, aligning himself with a fashionable backlash against feminism that will age as well as the Cultural Revolution. Maybe now you’ve joined the debate, Stewart, you can explain why left-wing feminist icons like Linda Bellos, Julie Bindel and Helen Steel deserve to be arrested and punched and have drinks poured over their heads.
A whole generation of brilliant, passionate, left-wing female activists potentially alienated by the casual misogyny of wokebros. The betrayal of those women is something the Left should never be allowed to forget—especially high profile, privileged male leftists like Jones and Lee…the oldest teenagers in town, expensively educated men who should know better, with all the time their privilege grants to properly grasp an issue.
They have no excuse.
That last paragraph hits the nail on the head for me. People with the education, the privilege, and the TIME... to think critically... instead blow with the prevailing wind, and rabbit the jaded and false tropes of their woke lefty friends. No excuses...
Hang on, what's he got against Nimco Ali? A woman who campaigns against FGM, a horrific practice, and Lee puts HER in the bin? What is the guy's problem?
I'm afraid I'm not one of those disappointed by Stewart Lee; I've long thought there was an unpleasant streak of nastiness and smug superiority there.
