"Alice laughed: "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll
The White Queen is now online and sharing all six impossible things before breakfast, sometimes in the space of one headline.
Helen Joyce brought my attention to this on Twitter, a site I now haunt like a ghost on a battlefield that’s still in use. In case you don’t like clicking links, Helen points out that “when this photo was taken, in 1976, there was no women’s Olympic decathlon”.
So. This is the kind of jabberwocky respectable publications are now engaging in, where a man wins a man’s race and simultaneously becomes the first woman to do so, at a time when there existed no event of this type for women. Makes total sense!
My faith in the Left was nuked from space when they started indulging in this kind of self-perpetuating, automatic historical revisionism, revisionism that also steals achievements from gay women and gives them to men, as with the disgraceful rewriting of Stormé deLarverie’s history, and claims that The Stonewall riots were essentially an all-trans effort, which only makes sense if you ignore the testimony of the gay men and women who were actually there.
My original title for this piece was “How do they not go mad?” But I suppose the people who are able to say the word ‘cis’ while keeping a straight face have evolved a range of mental defences against levels of cognitive dissonance that would instantly drive me mad. After all, if you’ve already decided that women are actually just a subsection of a larger group that also includes men, then I guess those six impossible things before breakfast might even leave you hungry.
But I have good news for those people, because if they continue along this path, then there are a lot more impossible things lining up behind this one. Holocaust denial, climate change denial, flat earthism, Scientology…every crackpot belief will be due for a revival, and you will be able to fill your bellies with utter shite.
Ah this is brilliant. Really made me laugh. And thank goodness, because if I didn't laugh I'm sure I'd cry! I just don't understand how people can look at this photograph & then tell me I have to accept Caitlyn Jenner is a woman in exactly the same way as I am a woman. He fathered six children for goodness sake.
This is also excellent and made use of the Alice quote before I did https://uncommongroundmedia.com/six-impossible-beliefs-and-the-damage-they-have-done/
