Newcastle: How Wikipedia lies to defame women

Wikipedia is another piece in the puzzle of how media, tech and activists work together to defame those of us who refuse to accept the destruction of fremale-only spaces. My entry is fiercely and maliciously focused on the very worst interpretations of my activism, and Posie’s is exactly the same. Here is an account of how that site smeared one brave woman who stood up to speak at one of Posie’s events.

I’ve had several malicious communications aka threats from TRAs since speaking at a Kellie-Jay Keen 'Let Women Speak' event in Newcastle in January. On KJK’s wiki page, I’ve been described falsely as a nazi sympathiser.  A Hypnosis Practitioner, I study how techniques of persuasion are used to convince people– via emotions rather than rationally. My speech was about the mechanism of the hypnotic Big Lie technique. I explained that The Big Lie was first described by Hitler in Mein Kampf and how the same technique is being used in current times to persuade people of a falsehood - that men can be women and vice versa. I have a written transcript of my speech which I’ll happily send you. Pink News claimed that I quoted Hitler (I didn’t) and then they withdrew the most outrageous of the claims once a couple of people complained on my behalf.

At a Standing For Women rally in Newcastle upon Tyne on 15 January 2023, speaker Lisa Morgan referred to "the big lie", including that it was "first described by Adolf Hitler in Mein Kampf", and said "The big lie is that trans women are women."^[28][29] Queer.de reported Keen appeared "visibly and audibly in a good mood" after the speech, based on a YouTube video of the event posted to Keen's account

Here’s my speech: 

The TRAs jumped on the fact that when in Mein Kampf Hitler described the Big Lie he accused Jews of using it. TRAs claimed that this was proof I supported Hitler in saying that Jews were big liars. I did not. It was Hitler – one of the biggest propagandists of the 20th century – who along with his mate Goebbels were the experts in lies. Some of those making threats claim that I am promoting a ‘holocaust' and deserve to die, just like Adolf. My aim on the contrary is is to show people just how easily we can all be misled by constant repetition of a lie so big that ordinary people would never dream of saying anything quite so outrageous. 

Since my speech, I have had no negative feedback from any Jewish people, though one GC woman complained to me on behalf of Jewish people. Coincidently, I also had a phone call from a former trainee of mine now based in Israel who wanted me to work with one of her clients. I warned her that I had been called a Nazi and a supporter of Hitler because I had spoken about the Big Lie. Her response was to laugh, (have to say that this TR bullying is so insidious I’d even started to doubt myself at that point) and she still laughed after I had sent her my speech and a meme doing the rounds of me waving a swastika. She commented that "everyone knows about the Big Lie" and that her rabbi had been talking about it that Saturday.

Accusing me of being a Nazi was, in hypnosis terms, a ‘misdirection’. It’s known as a ‘dead cat’ strategy – 'throwing a dead cat on the table' diverted the mob's attention towards me rather than to what the implications of a Big Lie might mean for their beliefs. Calling me a Nazi served its purpose – straightaway it stopped any thinking about what I had said.  TRAs avoided having to acknowledge that the trans rights movement might have been sold a Big Lie that ‘men can be women’. TWAW has become so embedded in people’s beliefs through hypnotic repetition and constant reinforcement, it is now hard to shift. Those first promoting this lie may have been just a handful of individuals but the Big Lie, that Trans Women Are Women, has its own momentum now.

Trump (who used to claim that the election was stolen - before the election had been held), along with Boris Johnson and I guess many political propagandists, understand the mechanism of the Big Lie too.
