I had such a good time speaking to Jane Fonda and telling her why wearing nail varnish makes me a special new kind of human like Demi Lovato. (Although Lovato’s thing is that she’s the first woman in the world to have short hair and therefore requires plural pronouns.) But also I’m now making enough from the Substack to get by while waiting to do the Father Ted Musical!
I gotta tell you, it was touch and go there for a while. Three years of steady harassment and defamation takes its toll on the ol’ bank account. but the site is growing and growing, and for every ten people who subscribe, one person takes out a paid sub. So thank you all, whether you’re paying or not. Please keep sharing the blog and tell everyone we are one of the few places who dare even to discuss this current war on women.
And if you have a story to tell, if you’re a teacher, a student, a journalist, an NHS worker, a policeman—whatever captured organisation you work for—please tell us your story. You can be as anonymous or as open as you wish.
I genuinely think things are turning around, by the way, which is a huge relief. My dearest wish for this website is for there to be no longer a reason for it beyond the sharing of Guided By Voices playlists.
Till then, the fight continues. Thank you again.
I don't have enough words to let Graham know how much I appreciate his commitment to this fight for women. This has come at such a high price to his professional and personal life and yet he still does it where others would have folded.
The 1st feminist I met was my father who despite being born in 1930s Ireland championed women's causes which in turn made me a strong confident woman. Graham is the only other genuine male feminist I have come across and I hold him in the same esteem I hold James Connolly and Parnell an absolute hero. Thank you.
Thank god! I'm pleased to hear things are more stable for you now. I was worried for you for a long while. This is great news.
I noticed last week that your subscriber numbers had gone up dramatically since I first looked at them (probably June last year). I'm really grateful for the massive amount of work you do here, and the little team of anonymous folks who help too. It's great how you manage to lay all this stuff out in one place so I can understand it better. Thank you x
